It’s my face for me. I look in the mirror and just see my mum instead of me.
oh my goodness yes. i bought a new dress a few weeks ago and felt good in it when i wore it out. i took a wee selfie, though didn't do anything with it - i don't post selfies on social media, i hate them, but i digress...

it was in my deleted folder and i knew my sparks card was in there too. i looked at it (the selfie) today in the queue for M&S and honestly just nearly died. i didn't realise how old i look.

I have put on weight during meno but I don’t eat many bad foods. My parents both have/had high cholesterol though. I haven’t been given the reading yet but hoping they just advise me to diet. I have actually being dieting for 5 weeks and eating a lot of apples!

Having looked it up, it does say peri can elevate it due to drop in estrogen.
Is there anything shit that peri DOESN’T bring ffs!

I can recommend brown noise for helping to drift back to sleep. It’s like white noise but a different frequency, it’s good for stopping your mind wondering off and opening 15 new thought tabs when your trying to get back to sleep 🤪

The anxiety is shit, everything is heightened. I now have a foot ball sized knot in my stomach at times compared to the usual tennis ball

I find myself worrying if I'm not worrying 😕
I have been like this lately, albeit I've had a shit load of stress personally. I'm normally quite balanced, but I've had This awful knot in my stomach (anxiety) and just felt totally out of control. Not a nice feeling. Has anyone experienced loss of appetite as well? I find myself Feeling sick cos I must be hungry (not hunger as such), then having to force myself to eat something ! I'm going crazy aren't I 🤣🙈

I watched the Panorama documentary and LN’s practice doesn’t come off well. However the bigger issue not touched on is why HRT is so fucking expensive when half of the population goes through a natural ageing process and may need this treatment at some point. It’s all well and good that peri/menopause is being discussed but this area of women’s health is still so woefully under researched and women are often left to figure out how to navigate it themselves with next to no science-based support. All celebs jumping on the bandwagon of selling shit under a pre-text of supporting women is sickening.

Thought provoking post Nurseali, thank you. It is making me reflect on how I am not engaging with things then feeling stifled or confined (by my own choices!)

Yes. I'm 42, quite often I just don't fancy eating. I don't seem to get hungry. BUT when I was talking to my friend about this, she's also 42, she said that she thinks I'm not eating enough which is why I'm gaining weight or struggling to lose it. I then tracked what I ate for about a week and she's right, I'm barely having 1000 calories some days, and it's been mainly carbs, nowhere near enough protein. I try to do weight-bearing exercises at home and go for walks, clearly not doing enough - but do any of you have suggestions on how to increase my protein intake? I can't face eating chicken or other meats all the time, I do have eggs almost every day, so any of you use any protein powders or other protein foods?
Sorry but it’s scientifically impossible that you are gaining weight by not eating enough. This is a very old myth (also things like “starvation mode”). If you are genuinely every single day without fail only eating 1000 calories and not losing weight, you need to go to the dr because something is very wrong. More likely, some days you are eating that and others you are eating at maintenance or over. And moving less than you used to when younger.

Sorry I’m late to the Louise Newsom panorama chat, but I have really gone off her. She did an interview after with the Mail and it was such a manipulative PR piece. A huge sob story talking about things like how her dad died when she was 9 - what has that got to do with anything?! Then saying things like asking if people want her dead or in an asylum, and “My husband worries a lot about me,' she says. 'He feels very helpless. He'll text the girls to say, 'Check on your mum'.”
All implying she is going to hurt herself because she is being questioned rather than arguing back logically or with facts.
Major ‘off’ vibes from it all.

I had to reschedule my drs appointment to discuss my menopause stuff and it’s another months wait for an appointment 😩 (I cancelled with four days notice btw, not wasting appointments by cancelling last minute and was beyond my control). I feel so down.

I sympathise! It does sound like you could talk to your GP about HRT. Maybe try a probiotic tablet for the bloating and a few of us on here have mentioned magnesium supplements helping. I can’t remember what they’re supposed to specifically help with now though!
I have magnesium to help with my leg cramps at night. Also helps with constipation which I seem to be obsessed with at the moment.
I even have a poo diary which if you had told me I would have 10 years ago I would have laughed. A Fecking stool chart ...literally shit getting old.

Has anybody taken FabU shrooms supplements? I’m taking them a few months and am finding a big difference in my mood especially. I was thinking am I just in better form these days although I can’t have gone more chilled for no good reason.
I totally identify what other posters saying about not feeling right in your skin. I do loads of exercise, keep active and lately everything I have feels blah on me. My waist is thicker and my legs are thicker. 🫢 Feel like I’m losing my little spark or part of my self confidence is messed up. Never had this feeling before.

Perimenopause can absolutley start in your thirties i think they reckon 35. Whilst it’s not common as such we are all different:

Don’t forget some people have early menopause so their peri will be earlier too. It’s around ten years before the actual full menopause.

Some of my subtle symptoms started in my very early 40s. I’m 45 now. Luckily nothing has gotten terrible and is manageable currently but my sister was on HRT before 50 as she couldn’t cope anymore with the mental health/emotional side. So we shall see!

I think I know what you mean. I currently overthink every interaction (and ones on here) in case people think I’m a twat. I hate how I look, which is impacting pretty much everything else. I don’t trust my body or me to do the things I once thought I could. It feels like everything is slowly crumbling but I see Davina all fit and strong and looking fab and wonder where on earth I’m going wrong.

(I lift weights or at least try to so it’s not that 😂)
Feeling you there for sure
