Anyone's nails start splitting? Several of mine have started doing it recently. I don't think I've done anything to cause them to break

👋 So I'm 45 and experiencing:

Night sweats (have to sleep with towels under me because of the amount of sweat)

Hot most of the time, I feel like I'm going to spontaneously combust from the internal heat I generate.

Brain fog.

An overwhelming feeling of being useless, being really tit at everything, total hopelessness, a complete failure and generally crap at everything for about three days before my period, to the point I almost ring my boss and tell them I'm quitting.

Feeling like I just want to lock myself away from all human contact.

Massive anxiety, again worsening around three days before period. Also really tearful and depressed.

Raging indigestion and stomach acid.

Rosecea.

Insomnia /disturbed sleep.

Awful crabbiness, one minute I'm OK, next I'm full of rage.

The one thing which seems to have helped a bit is not drinking any alcohol. My periods are still like clockwork, extremely painful though.

Such fun!

My last period was November 2021 and I can honestly say I'm improving everyday, if it's any consulation. I was at my worst when I was still having periods, I stayed away from alcohol so no hot flashes and I tried HRT but it triggered vertigo and I came off it.
It was a tough few years and there were moments I felt very, very desperate but as I say I feel I've turned a corner and my hormones are finally going to sleep 😴

Has anyone struggled with migraines when they're perimenopausal? Just had the 3rd migraine in 18 months never had them before. My head aches and then I'm violently sick and I can't move just need to lay down. My GP has told me at 44 I am too young (!!) but they will do another blood test but I cannot continue with these and the other symptoms, nighttime anxiety, insomnia which leads to hallucinations, general disinterest, no libido, acne on jaw line and awful periods and PMS to name a few. I'm literally at my wits end
Yes I had migraines all the time when I was in peri but now I'm full blown menopause they've disappeared.

I've just discovered this thread! Hurrah!

I'm 50 👀, still having periods like clockwork but duck me the rage that comes just before them. It's not pleasant for me or anyone around me. I've also gained three stone and my face appears to me melting. I've so far not been near the doctors. I've not had hot flush, but as I say, my mood oscillates in the most unpleasant way.

Hiya. Has anyone experienced teeth pain in perimenopause. It’s come out of the blue for me. Also terrible insomnia
Yes I have teeth pain. It’s like a dull ache. At first I thought it was my crowns acting up but I realised that it’s all part of a surge of hormonal activity that happens every few months. Starts with the teeth pain, followed by headache, bad stomach cramps, low mood and eventually a really heavy period. The tooth pain is bizzare but it’s my first indication that I’m about to get another hormonal episode. I’m peri by the way and no major symptoms in between these episodes. I’m not in hrt I’m continuing to take cerazette contraceptive which means I don’t get periods as you take it every day. Only the bleeds after those episodes.

Oh the rage I almost can’t bear myself at times. I just turn into a raging banshee I’m sure the neighbors must think I’m psychotic. And the slightest thing can trigger me. I only discovered this thread after reading the Nicola Bulley thread. Didn’t even think of good old tattle for the best advice and support 😍

It's al these little things that are important to diarise to see the pattern. It's my 1 piece of advice, diarise everything, no matter how ridiculous it appears. Hormones control everything.
I'd personally advocate for all women and girls to do this, particularly girls entering puberty as it really gives an insight into how much hormones actually impact.

yes, mine have become paper thin and every time they grow even the tinniest amount they bend and peel like crazy, I look like a nail biter yet have never bitten them once, I've bought a nail hardener but not seen much improvement yet

Just parking my bum here.
After being back and forth to the quacks for the last 2 years with any array of symtoms, it’s finally hit me that this is peri.

First was high cholesterol
Then aches and pains everywhere but especially in my hips when I lay on either side.
I sweat for England during the night.
Irritability.
No motivation at all.
Weight gain.
Restless legs
Skin has been awful the past few months.
Itching
Wanting to be left alone, can’t even be arsed answering calls and texts from friends.
No libido at all.
Fatigue. Could literally sleep for 20 hours
I’ve had the mirena fitted so just waiting on GP to choose which HRT is bet for me, as I’m already on citalopram, naproxen, lansoprazole and Atorvastatin.

There are more symtoms I have but I can’t be arsed thinking of them right now, ppffftt 🙄

Has anyone found anything that helps with this bleeding? I'm at the end of my tether with it.
3 weeks on, 1 off if I'm lucky. Having to double pad, wear the lovely period pants and if I don't change them hourly I am leaking through. 30 years of periods and I've never leaked through...its mortifying 🙈🙈🙈

Me friend had this, she had to go to a&e in the end they put her on the contraceptive pill and it calmed down.
Definitely see if you can see a gp to discuss

I’ve came across this thread through Charlotte Dawson page, so glad I’ve found this. There’s so many symptoms that GPS don’t know about or are afraid to say so this will be a blessing. I’m peri periods can be be anything from 2wks to 4wks or even 8wks then back to being normal, had bloods done last year and came back normal 🙄it’s the brain fog that I’m struggling with, does anyone have suggestions?

When you say normal was it the FSH test that was done and are you over 45. If you are over 45 and did have an FSH test then I suggest oyu go back to your GP and ask them why they feel women's health is of so little interest to them that they can't be arsed to read the NICE guidelines for menopause treatment!! I am bleeping tired of hearing about GP's that continue to do FSH tests on women over 45 when guidelines clearly state not to. I am also tired of hearing that women have been fobbed off with anti depressants

I’ve had insomnia for decades but through the pandemic I developed anxiety and palpations plus my insomnia reared its head. I got ecg which was fine. So put it down to anxiety due to lack of sleep/working through the pandemic.

Anyway after a bad episode I started taking Kalms night. I don’t take every day but 3/4 times a week. They’ve helped so much. They are made with valerian root and help with anxiety too. I tried lots previously for insomnia but nothing ever worked. So I was surprised they did.

Fast forward two years im defo in peri so I think that was the start. I’m currently managing symptoms with diet and exercise: proper heart raising cardio couple of times a week, yoga, bit of strength, supplements and so on. I’ve no qualms to go on HRT and will if I need to but currently what I’m doing is helping. Looking at menopace supplement anyone tried?
