My god. Its savage isn't it?
I could honestly itch my scalp off, I keep smelling burning...I regularly turn into a screaming psychopath and I cry over the smallest of things.

I feel like I'm falling apart 🙈

I've had minimal hot sweats though, so that's something to be thankful for. I've had them at night but not during the day *touch wood*
Better than the Fish I 1st started smelling which morphed into dogshit:D
No hot flushes for me either. At worst I've felt like somebody slapped my right cheek a couple of times but that is it.

I’ve never had hot sweats during the day either thankfully but night sweats were horrendous. Too many GPs think that meno just equals hot sweats and ignore the 30 odd other symptoms

Hahahaha oh that's hilarious. The smell of fish actually makes me gag so I'd be having a real bad time 😂🤢

I think oh I can smell burning. Then my brain kicks in, it's just the peri, the smoke alarms all work and it's all fine. But i just can't settle and have to do a full check.

My poor hubby asked me last week how long this stage of life lasts 😭😭 I didn't have the heart to tell him ot could be years, bless him 😂

I was put on Norethisterone to stop my bleeding. It’s a progesterone pill used and I felt amazing on it. I had none of the other peri symptoms. I felt normal. However I’ve had a really bad time with my doctor. My bleeding went on for 6 weeks and this started at the end of March. I’ve not seen, or been examined with any doctor once. The most I’ve had is a telephone call at 17.55 when I know they’re just about to rush off out of the door.

I’ve had blood tests that I’m assuming were fine and now I’ve been referred to gyne. The radiographer said they’ll normally do an endometrial ablation………..or something like that. My doctors have truly been dreadful and that’s caused my anxiety.

I’m 42.
My god MrsM that is awful for you. Might be the obvious question but are you able to change surgeries? Sending love to you 😘

Yes. I felt like a walked in a perimenopausal wreck and walked out with an appointment for a blood test, a scan and a bloody blood pressure monitor. Total disregard to the problems that are affecting me NOW and overwhelming me completely.

I had this a while ago but it got better when I wasn’t working but now I’m back at work I overthink everything and get really sensitive about small things like how an email is worded and feel like I haven’t done my job properly or I overthink conversations I’ve had with colleagues and then can’t switch off when I get home and think about work stuff and possible errors I’ve made for days 🙈

Luckily I only work part time. I imagine if I worked full time I’d have to give up work as it drives me mad! It’s definitely only happened in peri.

Has anyone else experienced skin issues, in particular the stomach and breasts. It’s like sunburn very hot to touch and then it peels?

Been to the Dr today with hormone/peri symptoms after waiting almost 4 weeks for my apt.
I told her I had a list of symptoms and she said she only wanted to hear my main 1-2 issues. I persevered and I said I think they are all related so wanted to mention them.
Anyway she doesn't think I'm peri at 39 (typical response from a GP i'm guessing) but I don't know how she came to that conclusion cos I tick nearly every box.
Anyway she is sending me for a blood test to check a few key things - thyroid, hormones inc testosterone, blood sugar etc.
She's also sending me for a pelvic ultrasound.
So it's a start.
Trying to book the blood test was an issue as receptionist said they have nothing for a month, yet GP is calling me in 1 month to discuss my results...ok here we go again.
Anyway I persevered AGAIN and reception booked me in for 10 days time.
Dr said blood pressure is a bit high and book in for a second reading for next week but low and behold - no appointments available. So thats booked in for a month's time.
Dr also prescribed cream for down below but when I got to the pharmacy....no stock. So waiting for a text about that.
I am glad things are starting to get moving but it's such a struggle to be A. Listened to in the first place and B. Be actually seen

Wow that is a wait. I had a moan last week because I just didn't feel listened to at all but I must give credit where its due, my appointment was 8th (made same day), my bloodtest at the same surgery was 12th June (today) and I have an ultrasound next Monday and a vaginal scan (🤢) on Friday.

Hope you get sorted soon 😘

Thank you! TBH my Dr's surgery used to be great until Covid. Now there's just no appointments at all unless you tell them it's an emergency/you are bleeding uncontrollably. It's stressful! I am thinking of changing surgeries but now i'm in the system for this so got to keep with them for now.

I had a TV Ultrasound a good few years ago - honestly that one is absolutely fine, you feel nothing. Fingers crossed yours will be the same.x

The one I am dreading if it ever gets to it is a hysteroscopy... :/
---
You know you can go to hospital to get blood tests
Where I used to live, you would see the GP and could then go straight to a clinic attached to the local hospital for a blood test the same day.

The way the receptionist was talking today was as if everywhere is fully booked indefinitely. So I don't know how it works here with going to a hospital for bloods if you need an appointment or what but it sounded like it.

Ahh thank you, that's reassuring, it needs to be done so I shall do as I'm told!

I'd not heard of a hysteroscopy so just had a look on the NHS website, hmm yup, that doesn't sound overly pleasant.

Oh it's hard being a woman isn't it ladies?!

Absolutely. Most men don't know how easy they have it. Well my other half doesn't! I had a boob scan last year, now hormones are out of whack. smear test last month, ageing and all the fun with that. Urgh!

AT my hospital, I take the blood request form, hann it over and wait my turn, no appointment necessary. Call your GP and ask if you can do that.

So I've bitten the bullet and spoke to the Dr's earlier this week and talked about my anxiety. Decided to try Beta Blockers. Anyone had any experience with this?

Are betablockers proven to help with hormonal imbalance? Never heard of them being prescribed for that

Yeah I got prescribed them years ago but actually not taken any since I've been having peri so I must give them a go again. I keep getting this tight feeling of anxiety in my chest.

I got prescribed them purely for my anxiety leaving the house not for hormonal reasons

Sorry should've said. Since I started perimenopause, my anxiety is so bad. That's why Dr has prescribed Beta Blockers.
Anxiety can be a peri symptom (it was one of my worst) and, in my case, was definitely hormone driven. Took quite a while but gradually improved when I started taking HRT thankfully

Has anyone started to get more nervous about certain things ?
I’ve started to freak out at the dentist and also flying when I never really had a problem with the dentist before maybe a little bit of of anxiety but this year I had to abort having a filling cos I felt so panicky.
