I have a love/hate relationship with it. So many coins but so many legends…God sake. Based on what? Maybe it was mutually agreed they wouldn't mention it on the show until John was ready. Or maybe they really didn't notice. But guess what... alcoholics hide things. John lives alone. They don't always record together and what can they deduce from an afternoon together a week.

no more Johnny JR on TMUW. I feel like this is a long time coming but I’m no less gutted to lose my favourite pod. I really feel for the lovely Robin too. What a shame. Obviously I understand that an alcoholic running a pub podcast was never going to continue long term, but for some reason given that John had managed for 8 months I thought somehow it would defy my cynicism.

Ah bless him, but it just didn't work. Al Murray saying how good Johnny JRs relationship with alcohol is was intensely awkward.
The Adam Kay episode was the first TMUW I'd listened to in a while and even though it was still good, it was very different and you could tell it must be tough for John - just the way he swiftly moved on to the next question with really delving deep anymore (understandably)
On a a less sad note, how brilliant in HDYC still. They are both such fantastic interviewers (amazing considering neither has a background in journalism) - just such good listeners and genuinely interested in people

It's a shame but unsurprising, as you say. A few weeks ago, there was an insta post and he made a very passing comment about the pub closing soon so I did wonder if an announcement was imminent.

Started listening to the Iain Lee Ep of HDYC last night and I imagine that, had he spoken about c the way he did when John was drinking, it would have helped John kick the booze sooner... the same way TMUQ Barry ep did. Does anyone else feel like Elis hardly speaks during HDYC? I'm a massive Robins apologist so might be skewed but it feels like John could do the show alone.
