I agree. She seems so oblivious to the fact that she does actually have choices. Her financial position means she could pay for more childcare and household support. So that she doesn’t feel like she has to beg her mum for a night at the pub. Rob could take on less work so he could help out more. They could reduce the extra-curricular activities the children do. They don’t have to do the fancy birthday parties that cause stress. They could cut out the very fancy holidays to make some of these choices more possible and to free up time and money. If these choices don’t appeal to her, then she should accept the choices she has made.

It is also ridiculous to whine that she feels like people can’t be honest about how hard parenting is when her husband has a very successful and £ making podcast doing exactly that.
And if she doesn’t want to be known as only his wife, then don’t put in your blog bio “wife to Rob Beckett”.

She has so many choices available to her compared to millions of people (although I recognise the medical issues do limit some) and doesn’t seem to see this at all.

I haven't read the blog post, and maybe I should before commenting, but I could afford to pay for childcare while my husband works offshore for a month at a time, however that doesn't mean its the best choice for us all. I would love to have parents (on both sides) who would support us, but that is not the case. Sometimes being with your kids the whole time they aren't in school/nursery is the best option for everyone even if it takes a toll on the mother's mental health (and trust me, it really does )

There was a mention of Strictly in a recent episode, and a little sort of "oh, Strictly eh?" comment was made that makes me think you might be onto something.

Exactly! His book is dedicated to them by name , that’s how I found them out . And he asked Jimmy Carr his opinion on their names when he was a guest ! Josh just doesn’t name them on the pod usually because I guess he respects Rob’s decision not to and doesn’t want to name his kids and draw attention to the fact Rob doesn’t !

For me, the ‘I love it, but…’ moment is when Josh needs childcare to pack or unpack. He said recently it had taken him the full day to unpack as the kids were around. I am genuinely perplexed.

I am perplexed by this, mine are similar ages and they can play safely in thier rooms for a little bit or happy watching a movie if I need them out my hair.

I was disappointed with today’s episode. I get that Josh has a story to tell about him being missed off the SmartTV show photo on Sky but it felt like they had been told to push the show on the podcast and thats not what the podcast is about. Moan over

Wasn’t bothered by this but absolutely disgusted that Rob wants to be mates with Rio Ferdinand! Especially as he’s always saying he doesn’t want any new friends!

I’ve thought about it some more and think I was actually reading it with too harsh a lens so it has been good to see other people’s opinions. I do agree that no matter how privileged she is, if she feels a certain way then that is still valid and think it was really brave to share a story about going for a job and not getting it.

I'm Scottish and a Scotland fan (obviously), so I generally fall under the "hope England get beat" umbrella, but not because I'm unsportsmanlike but because the English media and English fans are SO unbearable.

Scotland kicked off the campaign this year, yet on coverage an hour before there were interviews with Gareth Southgate etc.

So I can take the Beckett going to Germany thing as a bit of a laugh all while in the back of my head REALLY wanting England to lose because they're all so sure they're going to win it that they're shutting shops early, comedians are moving their tour times (John Bishop), events are cancelling performers to change set times (Richard Ashcrofts) and people are leaving their holidays for a night. And for that cockiness is why other countries want them to lose spectacularly.

But equally the whole thing is ridiculous, a 6am flight back if they win is one thing, but if they lose? That's a depressing flight and you then go "was it worth it" kind of thing.

That all being said though, Robs stories are funny today which is part of what him going is all about I guess

Also, topless napping with Lloyd amused me greatly.

I don’t really think many people expect them to win…surely if people did they would have moved their dates for tours/performances from the off, as soon as they new the dates for the final?
I think the fact that they’ve even made the final is a big enough deal for a lot of fans.

Maybe I need to relisten to that bit - all I heard was her saying that people were telling her to breastfeed but she said no, it made her absolutely miserable. And as someone who also didn’t feel any kind of connection at all to their children until they stopped breastfeeding, it was quite nice to hear that from someone else.
She did also say that when she was telling her friend to stop as it wouldn’t work for her that it actually did work for her, so she admitted her way isn’t the right way.

Interesting, I absolutely support the message of a fed child is best and that breastfeeding isn’t the right thing for every mother/child combo. However, I found her main issue to be that it’s somehow disgusting and that she was shaming her friend for what breastfeeding had done to her boobs. I think that narrative and a fear of what it could do to their body is likely to put women off who otherwise would want to try and see if it’s the right choice for them and their family.

I get that her schtick is being outspoken and controversial, I’m just surprised Rob and Josh let it go pretty much unchallenged.

I was really shocked to find out that miquita is 39!! She comes across so young and kind of like someone who never grew up? I tried to google if she has a partner and I can’t find any info whatsoever, like not a single person she’s been romantically linked to, bit unusual for someone her age. I do want to listen to her new podcast though but I’m not sure if her and lily will just sound like a pair of annoying teenagers despite being practically middle aged.

It felt like they got her on because they like her and get on with her. But it did feel a bit awkward. I think Suzie Dent is fab and I actually enjoyed her stuff about what lexicographers do but the parenting things didn’t flow that well. Still far better than George Foreman though!

I'm a massive Rob apologist, often going as far as to say I'd make a great second wife for him. But his look at the moment is a bit "east end market trader" for my liking. But I'm maybe just getting trauma from my ex going through that phase during / post lockdown and them having a similar hair and beard colour

I liked his French crop when he had it! But never been a fan of longer hair on men so I'm probably very boring.

Am I right in thinking that Josh stayed for the men's eliminator, but not the women's? Could he have been at Rob's recording, given that it was both Rob and Joel Dommett? And obviously Josh's daughter knows who Joel is because of masked singer?

I don't think Josh was at Rob's one. Rob says earlier in the episode that he's filming something in a couple of days he can't talk about which I'm pretty certain was Gladiators as his ep filmed the middle of last week I think and that would tally up with them usually recording the pod earlier on in the week
