Some very old and luke warm tea on Simon mayo. I met him as a 13 year old backstage at a radio one roadshow. I either asked him a question or for a photo and he completely blanked me and I’ve not liked him ever since. I listened today with an open mind but the irony in him saying someone was rude to his child! 🤣

I rolled my eyes so much reading it to be honest. It’s hard to read about how overwhelmed a millionaires’ wife with two kids, lots of family support, money, and the odd weekend / night away thrown in is. It was like listening to Rob complain about how the seats were heating at the soccer. Ok, bring your daughter to see the match with her cousins then! Also, why could he not connect his crying about his daughter scoring a goal with him being proud of her? Is that feeling of pride so alien to him? I’m tired of hearing about how difficult he finds his status as a successful comedian. It is neither sexy nor relatable. It’s ok, Im un - watching the thread after posting this. I’ll see myself out.
@foxwarren you may not see this but I agree with you…we need a non rave thread whatever that is 😂

Yes I was pleased Josh said something! I also find Rob a bit annoying with parenting, he seems to almost lecture Josh. The cooking thing (as if no one had made sausage rolls with shop bought pastry before 😅), the mother in law story (which was actually just an opportunity to say how he’d made his kids laugh). I still love the pod but I’d say one in three eps I find Rob a little annoying.
I love listening, and find them both hilarious, but I often think "I'm glad I'm not parenting with either of these two!" 😂😂

I can’t bring myself to listen 😂
I mean, it was fine overall, but I found myself rolling my eyes and getting annoyed at her speaking over her dad at times and felt like she answered questions that he was directly asked. Not the worst episode, but equally I'm definitely not going to be listening to their podcast 😂

Also, haven't mentioned this yet but how awful is that whippet ornament Lou bought 😂😂😂 I need to know how much she spent (from the joint account)!

Yeah, the fixating on the comments long after Josh was ready to move the convo on… really not doing a great job of making anyone believe you’re not bothered.

Do we think they have quietly done away with guest episodes, or just taking a break while scheduling becomes tricky for parents in particular over the summer? I suppose in a lot of cases when the guest does it for promo, they aren’t necessarily going to be able to release that ep at the right time to maximise the return on whatever they’re shilling.

Same, I think they made the best of it but she was giving mean girl vibes like she didn't want to be there. Not a fan
She didn’t know if they had kids, boys, girls, how many, how old. She hated being pregnant, hated giving birth. Absolute drainer!

Finding Rob quite disingenuous at the moment. “The kids have had six weeks off” - his children are at private school. They’ve had 8. He should come out and say it and be honest imo and own that privilege. That’s why they were out in Halkidiki (read: Ikos/sani) mid July, before prices are peak holiday disgusting. Own it!
But why does it matter? I genuinely don't understand why you say he's being disingenuous. There's probably a fair few listeners with kids at private school so it's not a dirty secret (why should it be?).

What did everyone think to the discussion about which age is the hardest on Fridays episode? I was totally team Josh and agreed with all his points. I think Rob has been out the trenches too long!
As the parent of ages 11,18,20 and 20 (step siblings, not twins) I actually found it quite patronising from Josh that he thinks he has it the worst. I could see what Rob was trying to say but I don't think he got his point across very well.

Give me sleepless nights with a newborn over the horrendous time I had with my school-refusing, traumatised eldest aged 11-17.

Basically, each age has its hardships. In my experience ages 4-10 were joyous. I hated being pregnant (severe sickness) but loved the newborn stage each time. I had PND with my youngest and still that wasn't as hard as dealing with my eldest during her teenage years.

I just found Josh a bit "my kids are so hard and I've got it worse than you" shtick a bit annoying if I'm honest.

As my other contributions to this thread show, I'm not one for slating the joys generally.
---
I've just realised my PND and my eldest being tough were actually the same time 😂 funtimes! PND had to come second to her needs! Can laugh about it now.... 🤔

Can't stand her on Buzzcocks or Insta but enjoy her actual TV shows. It wasn't a bad listen, IMO. Lots of chat about school friendship dynamics and a bit about her new paranormal book. She didn't annoy me in this episode 😂

Loved today’s with Miquita Oliver, and as a result I’ll listen to her podcast with Lilly Allen (looking forward to her as guest next week!)

I remember watching miquita on tv as she was a couple of years older than me-however I have never ever heard of her mother Andi or seen her in anything!

They made that little comment about Russell Kane at the beginning, Louisa is mates with him and they’re always on holiday together!

What is a nonsense degree please?

I have no issues at all with childcare when needed. I just would like the podcast to be about parenting.

It is obvious that the life of the spouse of a busy touring/filming comedian is quite lonely too.

Did anyone find Rob a bit insufferable in todays episode?! The replying to the Daily Mail comments felt particularly self indulgent. A couple would have been funny but it just went on a bit.. Josh kept trying to move on and stop him!
I haven’t listened to today‘s yet but sadly I have found Rob a bit grating. The going on about Josh living in London and he’s moved to the country is boring now 🙈

I don't have any kids, so can't really comment.

Just wondering about the thoughts on Tuesday's episode when Josh said he wouldn't be able to do the car journey alone.
As someone who has done a 26hr flight on my own with a toddler, I eyerolled

I really enjoyed today's interview with Cush Jumbo! Never heard of her, had to google her and yet she was interesting and funny. Great episode.

It's so weird that the guests I think I'll like don't always interview well and then the guests I've never heard of pull it out of the bag!

Renting it out I think/holiday home, typical faux socialists that pretend to care about issues such as the housing crisis but own multiple properties contributing to the crisis. Good luck to them as I'd do it if I could afford to, but it just doesn't sit well to hear Josh preaching socialism (particularly on The Last Leg, rather than the podcast) when really they're the ones who live as capitalists.

I don't usually enjoy the guest episodes and usually give them a swerve, but enjoyed the episode with Tom Kerridge.

Have they? I got into the habit of skipping the intro because it was so annoying. Noticed there hasn't been as many adverts as usual, feel blessed! Ha!
Lucky you, I had 3 ads for different podcasts between 2 episodes, then the "welcome to the podcast" bit, then 4 adverts that started "this episode is brought to you by..." before the actual talking started.
Thank God for the skip button. I know they've got to make their money, but jesus.
