To be fair, their legal name is Amy Gardiner-Gibson, and it is the name they are often referred to by people who have visited them, and it appears to be the name they were using until recently. Also they are on remand in a Women's prison. So unless you are following very specific news sources you would have no idea of their pronouns.

A voter decided that a bunch of Green activists who were too arrogant to close a café door in winter didn't deserve their vote.
Many people consider that omitting those little acts of good manners point to a general contempt for others, but to little OJ, expecting good manners is laughable. Now he's doubling down and complaining that if you think little OJ was rude to laugh at the voter, you must be in favour of war crimes.
Although i wouldn't make a decision based solely on that, she has a point. And Owen then reinforces her point by being disrespectful, rude and exaggerating his reaction for socials.
And if it had been something Reform and or the Conservatives had done Owen would absolutely have jumped on it like she did.
Im so sick of people bringing elections down to one issue. The Green Party stands for much more than just being anti war crimes, and people will make judgements based on those other policies
I totally agree, you can pretend all you wNt about how ethical you are but minor acts like this, which literally cost nothing in time and money, are very telling about how a person is morally imo

I heard the interview but didn't realise it was that twit. Not closing the door is a micro action of arrogance and self centredness showing what they really thing of the community and will resound with a lot of people. Of course he is far too up himself to realise this.

I wouldn't make a voting decision purely on that, but when I was active in politics it was drummed into us that when canvassing you always shut garden gates, respected signs saying things like "don't knock, baby asleep" and generally showed your best face to everyone. Because in the words of Mr Darcy, "[a] good opinion once lost is lost forever".
Voters are less likely to choose the candidate who is rude or thoughtless, or has rude or thoughtless workers. As Gordon Brown discovered when he called a woman a bigot.
I wouldn't vote Green for many more reasons than a random activist's rudeness, but it would certainly factor in to a decision if it came down to a difficult decision between two otherwise good parties or candidates.

Yeh I wouldn't base my vote on something like this either but the arrogance that they feel would really piss me off. I can't believe they don't have enough training not tk realise this. There's a great anecdote in Jon ronsons book Them about this kind of thing

If a candidate is fortunate enough to be elected, they will be representing ALL of the people in their constituency, including those who didn't vote for them, and including the "bigots" who disagree with their ideology or proposed policies. If they dismiss ordinary people with rudeness and arrogance, they will do more harm than good in government.
While I dislike OJ as much as the next person and think he shouldn't be anywhere near people canvassing for by-elections (he does more harm than good), I do think not closing a door behind them is a very strange reason to give for not wanting to for someone, especially given there are actual far right marches happening in Manchester right now.
The small ways in which we do or don’t respect each other mean everything when there’s nothing else we can trust. Spitting, littering, taking up the whole path so nobody else can get past, not offering seats to elderly/mothers with small children etc, shuffling past women* dragging heavy suitcases up the stairs, loud music on public transport, talking loudly on the phone in public etc (I don’t know why it annoys me more when people do this hands free? I suppose instinctively there’s just something quite unsettling about seeing/hearing someone shouting in the street before your brain has that split second to catch up).
We have unspoken rules around all these things because there’s an implicit understanding that life is just that little bit nicer for everyone when we follow them. To denigrate those norms is to denigrate the people. We’ve had enough.
