Can’t help but think Harry chose the wrong picture to post 🫣
That’s nothing, Giovanna Fletcher used the words “this news landed with a thud” 😬😬😬😬 now edited after being reminded that wasn’t the best choice of words

I wonder whether he had any staff/security with him and why they didn’t try to restrain him for his own safety when he was acting like that

I don’t think he did? He seemed to relatively travel just with Kate.

I get what everyone is saying about the picture chosen by Harry in terms of it showing Liam performing in his own surrounded by fans but honestly? For me, with the rumours about him diving off the balcony to get into the pool, it just felt a bit off. Idk maybe I’m just feeling a bit over sensitive? The tributes have all been lovely but I agree Harry’s was more polished and professional.
That’s exactly what I meant by the choice of picture I just didn’t want to say it. They should have thought about posting a picture of him high up like that

I don’t know, I don’t think Harry and Liam were ever particularly close. I think it would have been insincere for him to write a gushing message.

Their statements are all appropriate to the level of friendship they had with Liam, and that’s all we can ask for.

I still struggle to understand why anyone is asking for anything from any of them..why are public statements from people we don't know irl about a man who died less than 48 hours ago needed? I don't understand why we demand accessibility to celebrities to such an extent that it's considered acceptable to tear them down for choosing the "wrong" photo of their dead friend to post or choosing not to share the full extent of their feelings in an Instagram post.

(Not really directed at the post I quoted - I get what you mean - but it really baffles me!)

Yes I just meant ‘all we can ask for’ in terms of if they were to release a statement, we shouldn’t expect more than what they feel is appropriate for them. Perhaps I could have worded it better, probably still haven’t worded it very well there haha.

I completely agree though, no one owes anyone their grief. It goes without saying that they will all be devastated, it shouldn’t need a social media post for people to know that.

I find some of 1Ds songs quite eerie to listen to now just because of how they foreshadow what’s happened in a way. E.g. change your ticket “girl don’t leave me all alone in this hotel”, long way down “now I’m falling it’s a long way down” and story of my life “seems to me that when I die these words will be written on my stone”. I’m sure there’s plenty more.

I was re-watching the 1D movie and nearly cried when Liam’s mom was tearing up saying how he was away for so long… if before it felt very nostalgic to listen to their songs and watch videos, now is even heavier 🥲

Any random person behaving like that in a hotel would be restrained by security and taken away it’s a shame no one intervened
Its quite possible they didnt have the man power - restraining some one under the influence of drugs can take a numbef of people. No hotel has security guards their full time for instances like this.

I know theres other staff, but IMO its not for them to get involved her due to potential injuries etc they could receive. Calling the cops is generally the best option

I don't understand the problem with what Harry posted, it was a lovely message and obviously heartfelt. People are weird....

I used to work in hotels and there is no way bog standard staff would be expected to intervene in a situation like that.

Exactly. You wouldn’t be expected as staff to deal with this sort of situation… Perez was saying they should’ve just called the police but probably didn’t because he was a celebrity. But also, by the 911 call it seems like the situation escalated really quickly and they did call for an ambulance before it happened so they tried to help

It definitely seems to have been a situation which spiralled extremely quickly. The images of him on his laptop in the lobby were taken I think 35-40 minutes before he died? I can imagine the hotel staff thinking he was a danger to himself but at no point thinking it would end with him falling or jumping off the balcony. They must be traumatised.

In the 911 call they mention their concerns about the balcony as being the reason they called. I actually thought the hotel dealt with it really well to make that call. People always want someone to blame

I do find it so alarming how the photos paint a different picture to the info we've been given so far. He sounded like a man on the verge but all his movement in the hour before looks calm and normal.

The amount of conspiracy theories I’ve heard over the hotel mentioning the balcony. The amount of balcony deaths there are, of course they’re going to be worried that he’s going to fall off or jump off. The fact that people are finding it suspicious baffles me

I agree and I think a lot of this goes back to the way we’ve made True Crime into entertainment… Nicola Bulley, Gabby Petito spring to mind.. people seem to think tragic deaths and crimes are just up for public speculation now. And people write their conspiracies online as if they’re fact.

People on YouTube and TikTok will use Liams death as a way to make content, and make money off it. It’s so wrong. I used to listen to a lot of true crime podcasts but lately it just sets my teeth on edge.

Only a few days ago I was watching videos of liams most recent behaviour/actions and thinking this man is acting so erratically and you could tell he was abusing drugs. I was literally thinking he will be dead soon but hoping that surely he would get the support he needed again as it was so clear to me, an outsider how bad things had gotten. Obviously im not sure of what was left of his close friends/relationship with family but this is so desperately sad.

I don’t dispute what Maya has alleged but I think Liam has struggled for years with alcoholism and drug use and that had completely changed his personality and caused him to do a lot of things I’m sure sober him would never of dreamed of doing. I don’t think he’s had the healthiest of relationship with women, thinking of the comments Danielle peazer has made over the years and the fact she and Sophia smith are friends now etc

The timeline of events from the hotel are hazy but it does appear something tipped him over the edge very suddenly, and I think ultimately he jumped from the balcony during a drug/alcohol fuelled rage :(
