I'm glad that the person who commented with a meme from Twitter of Cheryl Cole contacting Liam via a seance has either deleted or had their post deleted. You can comment on my posts with a sick emoji as l did yours but I saw what what you did. A little boy has lost his father.

I feel so sorry for his little boy. I know he didn’t seem to see him very much, so his day to day life probably won’t change much but it’s still a huge life altering thing to go through at that age. I also think 7 is tough because they’re still so young, yet they understand a lot so it’s hard to protect them. It’s sad that he didn’t get the chance to better himself and be there for his child more as he grows up.

I won’t be surprised if more comes out about Liam now. I think there was a lot, lot more going on there with him that was starting to bubble to the surface. I know some people will try the whole be kind thing again but two things can be true at once, it’s sad for someone to die in such circumstances, but doesn’t give them a free pass for their actions in life.

I didn’t see the news about Liam last night. I haven’t followed what was going on with him in recent times but reading back on this thread it’s all so incredibly sad.

Tbh I think there has been a very dark shadow around him for a while now. If he is to be buried in his home town I hope fans that live in the local area are at the very least considerate to his family and leave the grave alone.

He has been downward spiralling for a while. I remember hearing his podcast episode on the diary of a CEO and thinking that it sounded like he was doing better after some dark times but then again, that was the time he was with Maya and we now know what was happening. And then he was clearly drinking again…It’s shocking that his current gf would leave him alone in Argentina in that situation… but maybe they had argument and she had enough or something. As someone said, it’s hard to help someone who doesn’t want to be helped. It seems like he was having a really though time by the 911 call. Truly heartbreaking

I expected this at some point but just not so soon which I think is why I’m shocked. I’m sure it was discussed on one of these threads once that we could see it ending this way but I can’t find where. I remember at the time Matthew Perry passed that I could see Liam’s fate being the same.
I can't remember which exact thread but I was reading one last night and yes in 2023 posters were literally predicting this, so so sad they were right felt a bit eerie 😞💔

Sorry but I find these kind of takes so poor, responsibility for someone’s mental health should never be placed at the partners doorstep.

He was clearly off the rails, why should she put herself in danger to look after him?

I haven't followed One Direction in a long time but it is truly sad for someone so young to be lost in this way. Is Naill considered to be clean and on a good path? He always seems to be when I'm seen him in the media in recent years.

Yes, that is very true. On the other hand, I think I would try to help if I cared about the person. But again, some people are beyond help despite everyone’s attempts

There’s also plenty of other reasons why a partner might travel back before hand. For all we know they split / she had a commitment back home to go to / he asked her… etc.

I’m sure she probably did try to help many times over the course of their relationship but she’s one person and not qualified in mental health care. She was never going to be able to ‘fix’ or help years and years of mental suffering that was clearly very extreme.

TBF, no one knows what she has done to help, both on this trip and otherwise.

THIS. I was never really a 1D fan but all morning I have just been thinking about Cheryl and Bear. Maybe because I have a kid the same age.

Whether Liam was present or not, parents are the centre of the world for young kids. I can't imagine having to break it to your child that their parent has died - and then you can't even turn on a TV or go outside because there will be photos and news stories of him everywhere. Also the paparazzi will probably be lurking nearby to get the first "sombre Cheryl steps out after news of ex Liam's death" photos.

Posted this on the secret gossip thread but seems more suited to here.

Grew up watching X Factor and I remember 1D getting put together. I absolutely loved them. Gutted to hear about Liam's death but I'm not shocked. He was very troubled and its so sad. You only have to watch the Niall Horan concert videos on Liam's Snapchat; they are uncomfortable and awkward. Poor guy, he just did not have the help or support, or maybe he did and he just didn't want it. Either way, a life has been taken too young. 31 is no age :(

You honestly cannot force someone into rehab/therapy or the likes.

you can reach an all time low with them and they will say yes they will get help, you can drive them to the door, get them in and talk with the therapist etc etc and then at the point where they say they don’t have a problem is when it all falls down.

Rehab and therapy only work if the addict is ready for help and freely admits to being out of control. You can shout and scream that they need help and they are ruining their life and yours and killing you. But until they actually ask for help it won’t come.

so then you leave and wait for the next time…

100% this. My dad has been going into rehab for most of life for alcohol addiction and 9/10 he falls off the wagon again, because as much as he does want the help there and then, it doesn't last. It happens time and time again. It's sad. You can have all the money in the world, all the resources there to help you but ultimately it is down to the person that is needing the help to actually want it because otherwise the cycle continues.
