I respect the fact that all 4 weren't photographed together and seems made an effort not to be, imagine that would've overshadowed the whole funeral if so, imagine the media frenzy.

The paps have already been so ghoulish getting pictures of Niall today. I hope people don’t pressure Niall or Harry to post if they don’t want to. It’s already a bizarre expectation for them to perform their grief for strangers but the 1d machine already took enough from them.

4 world tours and 5 albums in 5 years is not normal for any singer never mind a bunch of teenagers, it is criminal how much they worked them. Must have been so strange going from being in the biggest band in the world to a much lower level of fame.

They were worked to the bone. No wonder they took a break and never went back to the band. I also think that they had it incredibly tough as they were the big act during the huge rise of social media. The invasion of their privacy by fans and the demand put on them was insane. I know it set them up for life but they had a tough time. I often think about how batshit crazy people were around the whole Larry thing. That ruined Louis’ and Harry’s friendship. The way fans would harass their girlfriend or anyone around them. Not for all the money in the world.

I think Liam in particular found the comedown from that height of fame hard to adjust to. You could tell that he thought he’d be the huge name out of the band, but I just don’t think he worked for the solo career hard enough. Harry worked. Niall worked. I really didn’t think Niall would have the career that he has now considering he hardly sang in the band. I saw him live a few months ago and you could just tell that he really put in the work to become a better singer and is passionate about his own music. Looking back, Liam really was lost from the end of the band onwards. A sad end.

How sad that they can’t even be natural in attending a funeral? Not from them personally, but the fact that the media scrutiny would make an issue if they did. Does that make sense?

Going back to the difference in Harry's statement compared to Louis and Zayn -

To me, Harry's reads as if it was written by a PR manager, or at least written by him but run past a PR lens before posting, whereas Louis, Zayn and Niall's statements feel more raw. But I don't think that's surprising, given Harry's status. It reminds me of when people over analyse Taylor Swift's Instagram captions and I always wanna say... do you actually think she is running her own Instagram page?? I would honestly be surprised if Harry managed his Instagram page at all. That's what social media managers are for.

I think it’s nice that they all had support. Oli has been there for him throughout Louis career and was there when his mum and sister passed. I think it’s nice that he’s obviously a very supportive friend.

Yes it is lovely and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the photo Harry chose. Liam is front and centre, the focus is on him - as it should be at this time.

People like to pick apart the smallest things, one of the downsides of social media, gives everyone including the trolls a platform.

This is really awful to hear. He was clearly not in a good place personally, mentally, career wise etc. Obviously had a lot of demons, and allegations relating to his relationships and so on and drug use etc.

But this is the most awful way to die, just heartbreaking, for his family etc.

I don’t want to push away the Liam topic, but had a thought and talks recently with friends:
I’m a massive Harry fan since day one and especially since he left the bad.
I’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about him and many friends have met him and said he’s lovely in person… however,
He’s friends with James corden, lizzo etc people who most don’t like… I wonder if we only see one side to Harry and he’s more like them than we believe

He obviously doesn’t manage his instagram account because of times like these when people are legitimately calling him ungrateful or unfeeling for a statement about a friend that died less than two days ago. Just really disgusting in my opinion. There was virtually no difference between his statement and Niall’s but people have jumped on his, to prove what exactly? They’re grieving harder and “better” for a man who they didn’t know? Harry’s an awful person for posting a statement of grief and not wanting to commodify it? It’s unbelievable.

The babying of 1d is becoming more apparent the more they age, they’re all 30+ men now, they have every opportunity to seek therapy or treatment. Just because you experience trauma at a young age doesn’t mean you become a violent or childish person in response. All celebrities are a bit mental but there are plenty of cases of child stars who don’t act that way. The fact is 3/5 of them have been accused or convicted of aggressive behaviour and it’s rarely brought up in fan conversations or it’s excused.
