Contrary to most people's opinions on Harry's post I actually liked the picture. It's Liam front and centre in the spotlight which is what Liam wanted. I think it's also a picture Harry took? He used to take them on stage and post them.

They were obviously not that close, which is fine. I imagine Harry taking the role that Liam thought he'd be getting took a toll on that relationship in general, Liam certainly seemed bitter about it in subsequent years.

I'd rather that tribute from Harry than the ones we're seeing from people who hadn't spoken to him in years, with pictures of them together from before Brexit was even dreamed up.

I don’t usually post on this thread and wouldn’t say I’m a 1D fan but I like some of their songs and I rooted for them when they were on the X Factor.
I woke up at about 11:30pm the night before last to have a drink and checked the time on my phone. I couldn’t believe the headline that he’d just died. It really is a shocking death as others have said, the nature of his death is harrowing. His poor, poor son who was sleeping soundly whilst the world found out before he did that his dad was forever gone. I hope he has lots of support around him and I’m sure that Cheryl will protect him from the headlines.

The hotel staff were in an impossible position. Let him swim in the pool and see him probably drown. Take him to his room, knowing he has a balcony and risk falling. That was clear from the transcript of the 911 call that the manager had significant concerns for his welfare. I hope the staff are also supported in light of how the events unfolded. Truly tragic.

Feel so sad for Liam's family. I can't imagine how they must be feeling. I don't know what I would do if I lost my younger brother and had to live 40+ years without him. Part of me thinks they'll never be able to escape this because he was so famous. The minute you think you've come to terms with it, whether it's a year from now or 10 years, there will always be an article or comment that will remind them of it. But then I think the flip side of that is that he was so famous because he was loved by so many people, who will never forget him, and I hope that can bring them some comfort. He lived such an incredible life
Sadly I am 18 years into living the rest of my life without my younger brother and it’s something that haunts me. Every achievement or event you think ‘he should be here’ or ‘what would he have grown up to be.’

I just hope people respect the family and remember that whilst it feels like a hard loss to them as a fan, it’s nothing compared to what they’re feeling and have lost.

Yes, that is very true. On the other hand, I think I would try to help if I cared about the person. But again, some people are beyond help despite everyone’s attempts
You honestly cannot force someone into rehab/therapy or the likes.

you can reach an all time low with them and they will say yes they will get help, you can drive them to the door, get them in and talk with the therapist etc etc and then at the point where they say they don’t have a problem is when it all falls down.

Rehab and therapy only work if the addict is ready for help and freely admits to being out of control. You can shout and scream that they need help and they are ruining their life and yours and killing you. But until they actually ask for help it won’t come.

so then you leave and wait for the next time…

Hotel workers are saying he had an argument in the lobby because they wouldn't let him into the pool. He went upto his room and destroyed it before attempting to jump into the pool from his room on the third floor

Hello 👋 just coming in as I went to see One Direction twice on the X factor tour they were in and felt like an old woman dancing on the seats surrounded by children! Followed them through their careers and enjoyed their music. Absolutely shocked at the news and have been at work listening to the radio, everything has been Liam related and every 3rd song 1D. It’s been a surreal day; takes me back to when Michael Jackson
died. It is such a tragedy, I can’t imagine the pain his family, son, the other boys. Cheryl etc are going through. I was hoping to go to a reunion as a middle aged woman when they finally got back together but that’s never going to happen. Seeing the videos of him chewing his face off when being interviewed, his buccal fat removal, he clearly struggled so much and it is the saddest thing that it’s taken his death for people to see. He was getting ripped to shreds at Nialls concert. I hope he is at peace whether it’s what he intended or not 💔

Oh Zayn 😭 I was not expecting him to be so open and honest in his tribute, that’s what broke my heart. I knew he would be feeling guilt over not reconciling with Liam. Louis post also broke my heart as I knew it would 💔
I also thought that. He will regret not reuniting, but he can’t think like that… god it’s horrendous 😭
---
I went to spend time with my father in law after work today as I didn’t want to go home to an empty house and he had radio 2 on. Scott Mills was on and gave Liam a speech. My god it was heart wrenching. Then he played story of my life. I couldn’t help but cry for this man id never met but had such an impact during some major stages of my life.

I’m almost angry at him for not listening to those around him and getting the help he needed because his son no longer had a daddy. Like the poor poor boy who probably went to bed without a care in the world and his life is forever changed. If it does turn out to be be he was high from crack etc then I just…. I dunno. It’s just terrible.
I know what you mean, I feel like when you become a parent you have a responsibility to get yourself sorted out for their sake. He could’ve given up all the fame and bought a house near his boy and lived a quiet life. But then addiction is an absolute nightmare isn’t it and it’s not so easy to break free even when you have children. It’s normal to feel angry though when it affects a child and will do for the rest of his life. I’d bet Cheryl will have anger as well, as she cycles through the grief.

I do greatly fear the impact this is going to have on Louis and Zayn in particular. The boys all looked broken today. Niall looked like he was crying in one of the photos.

Someone developing an addiction to drugs or alcohol doesn’t make them a bad person, some of the nicest people you meet can be battling those addictions but the addictions can lead someone to do very bad things and they can become a very selfish person and when you have an addiction it’s your responsibility to get better and overcome it because otherwise it’ll affect you and everyone around you lives and that’s not fair. People can be there for support every step of the way and offer you all different options of help but at the end of the day it’s up to the person with the addiction to want to help themselves.

It’s very sad Liam was battling with addictions and his mental health I hate to hear of anybody having those battles because it’s heartbreaking and it’s a shame he wasn’t able to get the help he needed or wasn’t willing to receive that help because his family including his son are all going to be affected by his loss for the rest of their lives but addictions can take over someone’s life to the point they don’t think about how it affects anyone else because they’re in their own world with their addiction. I understand what people are saying about being mad at him for not getting the help he needed that frustration towards him is completely understandable because him seemingly not putting in enough work to get better not just for his sake but for his son and his other family members is a shame.

I think he just was so caught up in wanting fame that it took over everything and everyone else in his life that should of mattered to him more than fame and attention . Sometimes addictions or any mental illness anyone is battling with can be so hard to break free from and it’s sad how many people there are battling addictions who are in denial that they need help or not willing to get help. I just hope Liam can rest in peace now and I pray for his family because I feel so sorry for all of them not only because he’s died but also having someone in your life who’s an addict can be one of the hardest , saddest and most frustrating things to see someone self destruct themselves and there’s only so much you can say or do to help because it’s up to the addict to take action to help themselves and get better. I don’t know yet if it was suicide or a tragic accident that happened in the moment of him being on drugs and alcohol but it’s all very sad no matter what.
Yes absolutely. I work with addicts and have known and loved them. They often are the way they are because the world is too much for them. If he was on something like crack cocaine for instance that can literally change your very essence and personality. However being an addict does not mitigate abuse. As I said there's no conspiracy here. Just a very sad tragic ending.

Such lovely words from Zayn 🥲 If anything I hope this brings the boys a bit closer… we all speculated about some of them not being close now but this words only show how deep of a bond they have/had

As far as I could tell they had stayed friends and her and his family get on extremely well.
Wasn’t it just a couple of days or so before he died that she posted one of those “me and my truth we sit in silence” tiktoks, heavily implying it was related to the Maya Henry story? 🙄🤨

I think Liam really found it hard to live in the shadow of 1D and Harry, whereas the others have all seemingly found peace with it and carved out their own niche. Niall just finished a big tour. Louis sells out venues to the 1D crowd. Even Zayn has his own tour and he's the one known for not touring etc.

I don’t want to push away the Liam topic, but had a thought and talks recently with friends:
I’m a massive Harry fan since day one and especially since he left the bad.
I’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about him and many friends have met him and said he’s lovely in person… however,
He’s friends with James corden, lizzo etc people who most don’t like… I wonder if we only see one side to Harry and he’s more like them than we believe
One of my friends lives in London and has run in to him a few times in the corner shop under his flat. Every time he has been very clearly off his face and looking rough as shit. I definitely think there is more to him that the polished image we are sold!

It's not about being able to pay for the damage though, it's the blatant lack of respect for other people. Cleaners and other staff at the hotel (who are most likely earning minimum wage and working to a tight schedule in an already stressful and thankless job) then have their day at work made even more difficult by having to deal with the mess left by a selfish individual.

In terms of not having teenage freedom, even teenagers know it's piss poor, disrespectful behaviour to damage property.
