Totally agree. I also enjoy some of his music, his lyrics and his recording vocal. Live he is terrible! No stage presence and he doesn’t let go (as you said). I manage talent, and there are so many notes I want to give him and tips! He could be so much better! His management must be really poor. His stage presence and ability to let go were a lot better in early One D, nowhere near as strong as Harry, but better than now. Something is blocked in him; he’s not being his authentic self.

I agree that there’s a very real block. He has worked with a vocal coach and he has improved but not as much as I would have expected. It’s like he doesn’t believe in himself. From 1D live recordings, he was reserved on stage then as well. He moves constantly in interviews but on stage he represses that unless he’s running around being silly. I wish he’d stop sticking his fingers up. He’s quite considered and gentle when he’s engaged in interviews but hides behind this awful ‘lad’ persona which doesn’t do him any favours.

I think his team have probably worked very hard behind the scenes, but when the industry isn’t receptive, their hands are tied.

I think good on him for taking the opportunities afforded to him. Madonna has always been pretty dreadful live vocally and look at her career.

He's a fantastic songwriter and so supportive of the new bands, agree something is missing. I agree his persona doesn't match what seems quite a sensitive soul.

Is he though? I completely agree he must’ve been softened by the terrible amount of grief he’s had in his life but I don’t think there’s really much indication he’s a soft soul or anything? When the band was active he was known for being mouthy and “bullying” (I say that lightly, not as an accusation) the other boys because he was the oldest and loudest. Probably to compensate for not having as much attention as the rest of them. That seems to have continued into his solo career with the lad stuff, the pranks he seems proud of when he was throwing water on his crew members while they were sleeping, the alcoholism etc. There’s been more than once when someone involved in the entertainment industry has said he’s pissed people off with how he acts.

Liam will clutch onto anything 1d related for a bit of relevancy. Harry and Zayn are too wrapped up in their own worlds to acknowledge him publicly but he knows Louis will

I'm a bit behind on hearing the new music from Liam and Zayn. What do you lot think of it? Teardrops wasn't great at first but it's growing on me tbh. Don't like Zayn's latest stuff at all though.

Zayns basically made the same album 3 times but just progressively drowsier. The forced 'country' twang is odd sounding to me. I don't think he is going to suit the "raw" thing he wants to go for according to his interviews. I think he's conflating raw with lazy production and flawed singing. I could end up being wrong but I'm doubtful.

The only time I've seen Louis live is with 1d when they were playing small venues (UAN tour). I don't know if it was the sound or something but every time one of the other four sang, I could hear them clearly. When Louis sang it was very squeaky sounding. It was awful. I couldn't make out what he was saying

Glad I'm not the only one who thought so! Funny that it didn't happen during group choruses. Maybe he wasn't allowed to sing those parts?

Both Liam and Zayn’s singles have flopped it looks like. I wouldn’t be surprised if Zayn got dropped by his label again after his new album release. I think next year will look quite different for most of them.

I suppose it shouldn’t be that surprising with how much he smokes/drinks but seeing it going that grey at 32 is quite shocking.

The reality of a reunion would be very disappointing to 99% of the fans who want one if were to ever happen. They want to copy and paste the band in 2014 when they are grown men now. Harry and Niall wouldn’t want to compromise on an individual artistic vision if all of them tried to write another album together. Could you imagine Louis on stage in trackies needing the lyrics taped to the stage to remember them while Harry is dancing around in a sparkly outfit interacting with the crowd? Or Liam and Zayn wandering around aimlessly contributing a high note here and there?

I know a lot of people who start going grey in their late 20s or early 30s, it's not really that shocking is it? A friend of mine went grey in high school.

I think mid 30’s is the average for men to start, I just didn’t realise he had before seeing that video… so I didn’t know if it was new.

Being honest I don’t really regularly check in on any of them, I just see what comes across my socials and this is the first time I’ve seen him in ages

That’s basically what they were all doing in 2014!

I had to google the effects of alcohol consumption and smoking on hair and it can, in fact, cause premature greying. Wow, who knew!

Louis says he does a shot of vodka before a performance. That’s very telling.
