I don't think Simon knows how to be tactful about mental health or the delicate conversation around how shows like X Factor could've been different. He knows money and he talks money, and as far as we know none of the 1D boys were ever financially fleeced like some artists in the industry (S Club, TLC). He made sure they got the name (even if he joked about it now) and they were set up for life. I think people go overboard sometimes making him the villain.

Don’t know if anyone else feels this way but because the 1D boys started out SO young and the work rate and number of albums and tours, it felt like they were much older than they were when they split up? I remember being like 14/15 thinking they were so grown up at 22/23 but that’s really no age at all!
that could be an age thing. I’m 31 so I was their age when they broke up and they seemed like they’d accomplished a lot at a young age. Because my arse was just about managing 9am lectures and they had been touring the world non stop for years 😂

This is all just so… dark. I don’t know, just really really sad. He was clearly unwell and was being made fun of online for the past while. It’s so depressing. Obviously he did bad things but people are complex and addiction and mental illness can turn you into a completely different person.
Totally agree I’ve watched a few of his past interviews on Tik tok where he was in a better place and I was actually shocked at how well he come across and seemed fairly clued on. Which is a far cry from what we had seen recently.

Liam will probably benefit from taking some time off and being away from the public eye. Keep a very low profile. He could probably find work in doing something behind the scenes. The 1D name can only carry him so far, and I think he’s reached the end of that line.

The only way I see him having a solo career is a hard reset. He'd have to do what the rest of the guys did—define his artistic abilities and vision.

There’s a difference between supporting your ex bandmates, and trying to associate yourself with said bandmates.

From the Simon interview I got the impression that they've owned the name since day 1 and he regrets not obtaining it to do more with it
I genuinely think he underestimated how successful they’d be and just let them have it. Let’s face it, they were shite on x-factor so I can understand not putting up a fight to it. But he can absolutely choke he has made SO much money from them already.

it’ll be interesting if they ever do reform for some concerts. If they all have to agree then I can’t see it happening because it seems like only Louis and Liam would actually do it and even Louis I’m not sure about.

It does make you wonder, especially in light of current events with Sean Combs, why Niall and Louis are publicly being seen interacting with and supporting Liam. I wonder if they worry that he’s a ticking time bomb and will divulge things about their behaviours during their time in the band?

Good on Maya for speaking out. It’s obviously true, otherwise he’d be suing her and shutting her down.
---
I find this whole situation icky, and I fear that it could get messy. Maya has the right to share HER story and HER personal experiences of being in a relationship with Liam, but she doesn't have the right to share other people's. Yes, people are siding with Zayn, but it still isn't fair to implicate someone who has distanced themselves from the situation, especially after the comments that Liam has already publicly made about him. It's only recently that Zayn has started doing interviews and performing live again and we don't know what it has taken for him to feel able to, or to want to, do it again. It isn't fair for someone else to bring up what may not be just an isolated event, but a whole period that was potentially very traumatic. If she wasn't there and it's not about her, it's not her story to tell.
Why should these men be protected? It is her story to tell, it’s all linked. I’m sure all the boys have been exploited and have experienced their own trauma, however, that does not excuse their own abusive behaviours.

In the early footage, Harry seemed very young and Louis kind of took him under his wing, a few years in, you can see that Harry is completely different and seemingly much more confident and maybe a bit frustrated by Louis immaturity. Then Zayn leaves, Harry makes his big move, end of 1D.
I can understand the rest of them being upset and angry at Harry for suggesting the break in 2014 (even though it was definitely inevitable and even if Harry had bigger ambitions, the writing was on the wall that they had a shelf life and I’d argue 1d has been preserved well in fans’ minds because they left on a high note and didn’t end with a whimper like most who milk it for too long) but I personally don’t understand why some of them still seem bitter about it now years later. They were overworked and absolutely needed a break. With space and time surely you’d see that.

If she was underage, where were the parents? I guess these are the same parents that sold their kids to reality tv.
Better question is why Liam, a grown man, thought it was acceptable to start dating a 17 year old girl.

The amount of conspiracy theories I’ve heard over the hotel mentioning the balcony. The amount of balcony deaths there are, of course they’re going to be worried that he’s going to fall off or jump off. The fact that people are finding it suspicious baffles me
Someone even linked this to p Diddy… ffs 🤦🏻‍♀️ and people keep talking about what he was posting, when it’s been explained it was all scheduled

Anyone else find it weird how Zayn fans on twitter are like: "you all want Zayn to cancel the tour and flop. Don't tell him what to do". Like no, people want him to cancel if it's too soon to tour after he lost his friend. And it shouldn't be cancelled last minute so people have more notice

I think Simon rejecting Liam during his first X Factor attempt was a blessing in disguise. I wonder where he’d be right now if he’d never attempted a second time. He already came across as an overly sensitive boy back then.

I’m not a directioner at all, so someone correct me I’m wrong, from what I’ve seen before these two have stayed the closest? I think they’ve been spotted together a few times before and Niall was at Harry’s show too.

It's sad how fame has created some distance between most of the boys and their families considering their backgrounds

Eg Niall and Greg. Niall's dad has said fame is the worst thing that could've happened to their family

Zayn and his younger sisters. He said he felt like he missed out on them growing up. Their relationship now is almost non existent and he's closer to his cousin than he is with them. He only really talks to his older sister and parents

Louis has talked about wishing he had more time with his mum because they were like best friends when he was growing up, and how he was missing his younger siblings growing up at the time

And apparently Liam's family hadn't seen him in person in a while, which is sad because he's said him and Ruth were close growing up

I think harry is the only one who I haven't heard stories about in terms of distance between him and his family

I didn’t realise Louis’ hair is basically going grey?

I suppose it shouldn’t be that surprising with how much he smokes/drinks but seeing it going that grey at 32 is quite shocking.
---
I don't think they'd be as popular as they used to be if they got back together so it's all downhill from here for some of them
The reality of a reunion would be very disappointing to 99% of the fans who want one if were to ever happen. They want to copy and paste the band in 2014 when they are grown men now. Harry and Niall wouldn’t want to compromise on an individual artistic vision if all of them tried to write another album together. Could you imagine Louis on stage in trackies needing the lyrics taped to the stage to remember them while Harry is dancing around in a sparkly outfit interacting with the crowd? Or Liam and Zayn wandering around aimlessly contributing a high note here and there?

Yes Harry lost Robin and they were really close 😞 it's not been easy for anyone, and now this. It still feels so surreal. I keep forgetting and then remembering and having a weird uneasy feeling.

Thinking about all the times I saw 1D over the years - I always thought in my heart they would come back. Never thought it would be like this.
