Curry sauce on chips and defintely seen gravy and cheese on chips in London too

It's found occasionally but not common in London though.
Whenever I'm back home in Newcastle visiting my parents I have to go and get my fix on chips and gravy, because I miss it in London.
Had lunch in a pub in North London with some work colleagues some time last year, and I'd asked for some gravy with my fish and chips (it comes with various other meals so I knew it was no trouble for them). Was happily tucking in when the waitress came over and started laughing? She explained that the other waitress had said I wanted gravy for my chips and she didn't believe it so had to come over to see it for herself? Rude cows
no tips were left for them that day.I love a good cheese stottie when in Newcastle as well, another thing that doesn't exist outside of Tyneside
What about chicken parmo?
Yep I love curry on my chip shop chips. And chips and gravy but I think my friends ex introduced me to that and he was from the north!

We love chips and gravy in wales too but I’ve not seen it in any English chippies other than when we’ve been in Lancashire with family. We’re also partial to a good scotch egg here too!
We have Manchester Tart which, I think is similar, it's a pastry case with a layer of jam, then a thick layer of custard with desiccated coconut sprinkled on top. Some people also put bananas in the custard
I’ve been to a Scottish chippy in the past and instead of salt and vinegar on chips it’s salt and sauce?? I can’t even describe what the sauce is I just know it’s incredible and some chippies sell containers of it
I was just about to ask about a parmo! Definitely originated in Boro but I wonder how far it’s travelled.
Other things I've noticed as a Londoner living up North.
- Virtually no one knows what a Savaloy is.
- They have scallops up here. I thought it was a sea creature - its slices of potato, battered.
- Many Northern Chinese take aways serve a chow mein completely different to what I'm accustomed to, its all WET!
- Calzones are popular.
- Mash is served on a roast dinner.
- Northerners think pie, mash and liquor looks revolting.
- Chips are always ordered alongside an Indian.
- Bin lids.
- Pea wet.
- Chicken shops arent for hanging out in.
- breakfast, dinner, tea as opposed to breakfast, lunch, dinner.
- Red sauce for Ketchup.

Chippies in Scotland are a different kettle of fish to chippies in England too. Can’t beat a pizza crunch covered in chippy sauce
