No Spend, Two Weeks at a Time

Day 4 - £16.29 on dog food. Should have been more but they didn’t have the puppy stuff I needed. Obviously this is necessary, I can’t starve the hounds!
£17.43 in home bargains although my partner did give me a tenner to cover his stuff…I stuck to my necessary items (milk, some medicine and a bag of jelly tots 😆).
He bought the greggs for lunch so I’m not counting that in my spend for today 🫣🤪

Just goes to show how easily off track you can go when it’s a slow Sunday 🙃 however i did fully do our dinner from the freezer/cupboards.
We are here planning cupboard and freezer dinners so that we can enjoy spending a little bit on treats once in a while guilt-free! And sometimes you do need jelly tots.

So far i have managed two non spend days this month. Was hoping for another tomo but need cereal although out the food budget so not really counted and i need to pick up the free items with lidl plus before they end anyway. Key thing will be to stick to what i need only. Back to work tomo so got to be organised with taking food.

No spend day today. Took my kids to a local park this morning and they played in the snow (which we had for all of two seconds) this afternoon. Entertained the kiddos and it was free, happy days. Also managed to convince OH not to buy food for lunch or dinner on the way home from the park as we only bought groceries yesterday. Unsurprisingly we had plenty of food in 🙄

First few days have been okay, we ended up going to Cheshire oaks and I got the planned purchases (kids party presents) but also spent in next getting my son some new clothes (which where needed as he's shot up/needs hoodies!). Didn't spend on yesterday and working today so hopefully no spend today too!

No spend here as well, just catching up on this thread.

I don’t count groceries but i find it easy to give in to the temptation of impulse purchases under the “grocery” bill, but really it could be things like candles or kitchen towels or whatever else they may also be selling alongside the food. So I have a set budget per week/month for groceries.

Also, I track my spending on a spreadsheet once a month but for a few months now, I have been writing daily purchases by hand in a notebook. It’s such drudgery that when I have a no spend day, I’m rewarded by not having to record anything lol

Anyway. Good luck and happy new year all.

Day 5 and i spent £21 somthing in lidl all things were food items needed i am trying to go when i need things rather than must do big shop once a week as think i buy too much or rubbish then. Plus got a couple free items with lidl plus. I was very tempted with the windowscreen covers in there for all of us in the freezing weather but no that would have been £15 and in a week they would likely end up on the car floor in my sons car lol. We will defrost them. Fingers crossed for a total no spend day tomo. Was also back at work and took breakfast and lunch with me all healthy food as well something i want to continue.

OH went to the shop to buy cornflour, which we forgot to get at the weekend, he spent £13 on groceries 🫠 It is all stuff we'll eat but at the same time, we didn't need it.

My house has now been listed for sale so I really need to focus on selling the remaining stuff we've been decluttering. Hopefully rather than spending we'll have extra money coming in!

Ordered £50 shopping.
This is the problem I have, and it’s fairly unique to being house/bed bound.

I need a thing I can only find in Tesco. I can’t make it out to Tesco nor do I have anyone willing to go to big Tesco to pick up. I’m not willing to wait a week or two.

I’m not well enough to do without/cook something else. So in order to meet the minimum delivery I need to spend £50 which I can do, hence why I’m always well stocked, you always need spare loo roll etc.
so £50 on the credit card,I’m spending next months money. But this is the cheapest way to get soup!

What is the item can you get it on a smaller whoosh order ?

I’ve actually spent nothing (minus essentials) this year until today. I’ve returned an £80 gymshark order from December, but spent £160 at M&S replacing my work clothes and gym kits which have seen better days. I feel like it is kind of essential but also not 😳 also made £13 on Vinted this week to offset it slightly

Day 6 - £15 on some coffee and bleach. Very happy that I put a bedding set back on the shelf in Dunelm. It was reduced to £18 and lovely but I don’t need it so back on the shelf it went!!

What is the best budgeting app that people have used? I downloaded snoop but I couldn't make heads nor tails of it. I'm wanting to stop all the takeaway hot chocolates and just buying general rit I don't need. Id ideally like to meal plan and know what I'm going to be making so I can start saving up as got a holiday at the end of the year

I use snoop but only because it will pop up and tell me my bank balance every morning and usually that's enough to deter me from spending anything 😂😂

Day 7 fail today - £19 TK Maxx on storage and handwash

£34 River Island black trousers
I still had £70 Christmas money left so the trousers come out of that.
Why can’t I stop buying tit that I don’t need!

There was an app mentioned on here or maybe another forum where you could log all income and expenditure daily. Anyone know the name? It was free. Thanks.
Hi I use one called Spending Tracker. It's extremely easy to use. Free but only £2.99 to get rid of the adverts. It's a picture of a little wallet with money sticking out the top. It's not attached to your bank account.
