To go anywhere near an ikea and only spend £7 is a major victory.

I’m trying to expand the amount and terrain Mr Darvos can walk (long covid). Made the mistake of trying out a new hill today by walking with him to the garden centre (I needed a birthday card and had a £1 member voucher on its last breath). Ended up in the cafe where we spent over £30 on food that wasn’t great. Still, MrD had pie, peas, and a sense of hill victory. Next time we’ll take a butty and a bottle of water.
Very good point! Probably the smallest amount of money I have ever spent in there, I even resisted the food hall!
Well done mr Darvos, long COVID is no joke 👏

There was an app mentioned on here or maybe another forum where you could log all income and expenditure daily. Anyone know the name? It was free. Thanks.

There’s Snoop but you don’t log it manually, it’s connected to your bank account(s) and you can categorise all money coming in and going out and set budgets in the different categories which can be handy!

So far spent £4.35 today - got Starbucks for me and M

Was out on the first and had lunch out as it was the hubs birthday but managed to get our two meals on a deal and the kids shared a meal so was less than £20. We did am activity at our local museum which was free and parking was free too. No spend yesterday 😊 Popped to the shops today as the cupboards were bare! Reminded why I go grocery shopping without my kids 😫 Only bought the essentials as thankfully OH was too distracted to browse 😂 Cashed in a £5 voucher with some survey points and used JamDoughnut for the rest to get some cashback.

Speaking of cashback does anyone use Sprive at all?

People raved about You Need A budget but I don’t think it’s 100% free. There are newer ones now like MyMoney.

i do monthly expenses and that on Fudget (it’s v similar to an automated spreadsheet but I like keeping the lists of cash in its own app) very simple and basic - and free

Today: walked to the High St and returned approx £90 worth of orders. Including two sets of expensive Xmas lights that my husband promised to put up and, suprise suprise, didn't. Every cloud.

I bought:
£8 - dog treats and food from pet store, plastic free
£8.40 - large pack of fresh beigels from the Jewish deli. My son lives on these and I like to support an independent business and avoid all the preservatives in the supermarket stuff. Should last 2 weeks
£0 - big body lotion from Boots, used my Advantage Card points
£4.40 - Newspaper (I really love this every weekend and I want to support long form journalism)

Managed not to spend any money on my card - all the money I spent was in cash, which I drew out weeks ago so feels like it doesn't count in terms of my bank balance.

I also still have £50 in cash which I'm going to try to use solely for the next 1-2 weeks (apart from my big food delivery shop next week).

Feeling super down atm, quite a few things making me sad, but at least this is something I can control.

Just returned c.£200 of goods to Amazon.
Also not drinking alcohol in January (maybe longer) so saving money there...
Fridge and freezer is jammed, so minimum food shopping.

Definitely doing no (as little as possible) spend January

Went out for a walk today with friends, they all got coffees from Costa beforehand, I took my own in a flask 😇 and I've resisted two dresses I've seen advertised!

Day 3 - £9.25 on snacks from the petrol station and £3.80 on crisps in the pub this evening. Could do better 🫣 I did pack snacks for our day out but my partner wanted a sandwich and sausage roll so then so did the child…ah well!

First few days haven't gone terribly but not as well as hoped. Grocery shopping on the 1st which I'm not too bothered by, a snack and uber from train station on the 2nd (snack accompanied by a free hot chocolate, woop), something for work and a new toiletry bag on the 3rd (vinted rather than new). Hoping this year to pass my driving test and buy a car - not sure how much I should be saving up for that though. 2k/3k?

We didn’t actually set which “two weeks” we are focussing on yet.
Im doing this week and next because I get paid on the 15th.

I don’t know what the original plan for two weeks of no-spend was?
But obviously, you can’t do a whole no-spend month because you will need to buy things!
I think necessary groceries never count as spending. Things like household bills can’t count either.

Yes agree I'm not counting the food shopping! And I'm less focusing on the 2 week thing and just taking it day by day.

I'm trying to stop the ... "oh I'll just have a £4.50 coffee" and "I'll just nip in to Boots as I need a clear nail polish" and then you've spent £30 type of spending.

One of my worst things is rushing out for an appointment without eating breakfast or lunch first, and then being so ravenous I end up buying a sandwich or a Greggs sausage roll etc. And I never just buy one.. I buy 4 to take some home etc. It all adds up! So I'm trying to be really organised and take water, snacks with me everywhere, plus make sure I eat first before I go anywhere.

Also shopping within my own wardrobe or bathroom. I have enough clothes, makeup, skincare to last me a long time! I properly sorted out my knicker drawer the other day and realised I have an embarassing amount of knickers. Probably 30+ pairs. It's silly. And just the other day (before I did the tidy up) I was browsing the M&S website and considering getting more! It's a mental illness I swear....

No, just busy with life.
I love Marie Kondo but it’s not for everyone. A key thing she does is the “categories” you put everything of one type all in one place and go through it. For example - knickers! Or underwear. Chuck it all on the bed and see how much of it you own, is it all still decent, get rid of any that’s broken/damaged and wear the stuff you forgot you owned!
it takes time, most people just don’t have enough.

Just spent £12 on Shein that’s on the credit card 😡

Day 4 - £16.29 on dog food. Should have been more but they didn’t have the puppy stuff I needed. Obviously this is necessary, I can’t starve the hounds!
£17.43 in home bargains although my partner did give me a tenner to cover his stuff…I stuck to my necessary items (milk, some medicine and a bag of jelly tots 😆).
He bought the greggs for lunch so I’m not counting that in my spend for today 🫣🤪

Just goes to show how easily off track you can go when it’s a slow Sunday 🙃 however i did fully do our dinner from the freezer/cupboards.
