What memory card is everyone using? The SanDisk or Samsung one? (If and when you come to need a memory card)
I got the official Nintendo San disk one, it was on sale an working out the same price as every other brand so thought might as well

I can't believe the new Zelda is out already, I completed the main quest of the last one but still feel like I need to play it a fair bit more before moving on.

I got the dlc stuff and then haven't played in years 😬 (I don't think I understood what it was)

Yeah that makes perfect sense. I did wonder myself about starting a new island, but the idea of doing all that stuff over again when I've got new games to play just filled me with dread. But a friend of mine has started over about 3 times and he loves playing it over and over. Horses for courses!

Kids love the Switch. My niece also has one. She loves it. Her parents have put a limit on how long she can play it each day, otherwise she'd never be off the thing. :D

Ooft I dunno if I could restart over an over haha, I've had my island since day one way back when it launched, but I suppose that might be a good idea to keep it fresh an fun, all my mind keeps doing is going back to "oh but you have this an this" 😆

I never knew you could set times on the switch, I know that it's pretty hard to lock down compared to the others, right now she only really plays when we are together but in time I might need to learn that lol

I've never been to a midnight release for anything. I'm not against the idea, I think I've just always managed to source what I want online before I've known about a midnight opening so then there's no point me going to one.

I guess I'd also have a bit of anxiety about queuing up at midnight and then being told I'm still not gonna get one because I'm too far back. 😂

Happy birthday! Good luck with the delivery.

i was lucky enough to get a Switch at Argos yesterday.
Thank you.
Fantastic to hear you were able to get one. Most places must have had a good number available. I haven’t heard of many people struggling to get them this time around. Seems to have been a really good launch.

Just noticed there's plenty of stock at Amazon and Argos... Which annoys me a bit, as I registered interest with Amazon as soon as I could and, despite being a Prime customer, they told me I wasn't eligible for an invite.

Yet now I see both versions are in stock with Amazon anyway for delivery tomorrow if you place an order within 7 hours. So why have it as invite-only and show it as unavailable over the past month or so?

Oh well, I got it elsewhere anyway. 😂

My personal favs are the Skyrim port and Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I'm a huge Nintendo fangirl in general and can't wait until Animal Crossing comes out next year (y)

I just got super excited as a DPD van pulled up outside. He had 2 boxes in his hand, one was stuff for my OH and the other was for the neighbour 😂
I know that feeling! That said, I understand you can't play it early anyway because the console and Mario Kart World need a day 1 patch which doesn't release till tomorrow anyway. I think it'd be worse having the console and not being able to play it!

I don't think DPD has even picked up my Switch yet as the tracking number doesn't work. But, from experience, it's common for them not to pick up parcels till later in the day, even for next day delivery.

The Royal Mail tracking numbers tell me to check again tomorrow. I wanna say: but tomorrow is ages away! 😂 It's like Christmas Eve when I was a child.

I agree, but at least with Animal Crossing it won’t happen. It’s one of the reasons I still play the older games as the characters have personality.

Do you think it will be hard to buy a Switch 2 at Christmas? Or will there be lots of stock by then.
This was my worry and reasoning for buying it now tbh. I remember how difficult it was to get the PS5 when it first released. I know there were other factors with that and maybe the NS2 won’t have the same issues/hype but I guess it’s always a gamble and it’s the one thing my son has really said he’d like (he’s autistic and we struggle with buying gifts for him every year as he never asks). I’d hate to disappoint him.

Nintendo could make their consoles the equivalent of the latest gen if they really wanted to, but they've never really been about that. They make most of their money from their exclusives like Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, etc etc. So as long as their consoles are good enough to run those, then they're sorted.

I know they do release third party titles as well, but they're never the main focus. That's why I've got a PS5 and a Switch and will always get the PS5 version of multi platform games.

I agree about screen share - wouldn't be surprised if it's laggy. But then I doubt I'll make much use of it anyway!
I agree, their own games play well an are perfect quality an will always be the priority for them which I totally get, I think they must know most people do have another console so it's no big deal to them, really the only games I see struggle are the more realistic ones, the animation type seem fine, but once you go into heavier graphics that's where it starts to cut back on quality to be able to offer the game

I'd like to use screen share just more for fun, am happy it's finally got voice chat because I really could have used that with a few games at times, but if it comes down to having to have screen share off to improve the quality of the chat I'll take the chat over it, I'd rather be able to talk an hear clearly than watch a friend's game

I clocked a criminal amount of hours on it during lockdown, i enjoy it enough now as I have all of the materials and the museum is full so no pressure to complete stuff and just do random stuff now and then.

My little one loves hello kitty island as its similar-ish vibes but a lot more interactive stuff to do
oh i love that game! i’ve pre ordered the deluxe edition for my switch as i currently play on my ipad

I expect they'll be a new 3D mario out as the last one was so long ago.

The switch has partly been so successful as they had the back catalogue of Wii U games that didn't sell well which they could re-release. They're going to need to spend a lot more on development to get the same number of good games for the S2. Mario cart 8 was by far the biggest game and it wasn't even new!

That said there are only a tiny fraction of games that rely on it so I think it’s a fair enough sacrifice.

I doubt anything that isn’t physically ruled out like that won’t be backwards compatible - like the 3DS could play all DS games except those with controllers or accessories that needed the GBA slot.
Ah thanks, yes I expect its a vanishingly small amount of games that won't be compatible and it'll be for hardware stuff. Which is fair enough as no one bought the games on the promise they'd work on the next system.

Still hoping for more fire emblem, was hoping I'd have news with the lady direct

I restarted my animal crossing just to see if it would help going back to it, it's been fine but if there's a new one coming out 😶😶

Pretty sure ours is a Sandisk one too, not a massive one, just one we had floating round the house for something else. We've never bought a downloaded game though, so I'm not sure if it actually stores anything!

I'm still getting used to the game, but I'm enjoying it so far. The new abilities take some learning, though.
I kinda feel like recipes, things breaking and wearing the right clothes for the weather was a bit too complicated for me in the last one.

Any game that talks about crafting I think I don't have the time for this 😬

I wish there was an option for old and no patience and took it took out some of this stuff that doesn't appeal to people who are stuck in the past and loved n64 Zelda.

I think the launch was pretty well timed with the chip shortage long over, and there's no killer game at the moment that made people think they need it day 1. The dripping of games out over the next few months is probably a good strategy.

Mario kart 8 still looks great, and it's half the price of the new one.
