Usually they don't, I've always known them to have early releases like I got my Xbox at 8am when it launched, they will sometimes open at either 7am or 8am as well to preorder, but I can't remember the last console that actually had a midnight release, maybe the PS2? So it's surprising they are doing it for this one especially when I'd say PS an Xbox are bigger names an had more demand
It’s strange. Like I’d say a midnight launch to hype it up and drive up demand but the pre orders were selling out in minutes so it’s not like it needed it. Although saying that, it didn’t sell out in Ireland all that fast. I think up until about a week ago or so you could still pre order one. Still I’m really wondering how many people will go. And what’s in the goodie bags. If it’s good stuff I’m gonna be more annoyed. If it’s a load of stickers, I’ll be fine 😂

Not a recommendation, but I was wondering how much Nintendo charged and expected to be outraged at £50, but it's £119.99 . Wow! there's barely anything to it. I almost binned mine as for the first year or so didn;t play docked.

I paid £260 for a switch and Mario Odyssey when it came out.

animal crossing, i’m addicted and it’s a problem seriously, had to force myself to turn it off today because otherwise i spend all day and night on it
You're not really selling it to me. Reminds me of clash of clans and all the time wasted on something so barely enjoyable but hugely manipulative.

I've started playing LA Noir, really enjoying it if not a bit tedious but love driving around a 1940's LA and there's not going to be a GTA6 anytime soon.

Ohh let me know what you do, for me personally I've been enjoying starting again, pretty much have everything back again, got nooks, got ables getting built an ready tomorrow, got I think 6 villagers now (although some of them getting kicked the hell off soon 😅) I think all I really need now is for nooks to upgrade an to unlock terraforming

But it has been fun catching all the bugs an fish again an getting the fossils
I kept the existing one for now but I might start over if I get bored.

I was talking to my sister about it and she joked ‘what if it gets to the end of the Direct and there’s just a couple of seconds of an outline of Isabelle and then nothing else?’
And I really think she could be right 😭
i bet that’s what will happen😭 i just want a new animal crossing so bad and i want them to put more effort in because new horizons got so boring so quick unfortunately 💔💔💔

Getting excited haha.

I'll be getting the Mario Kart World bundle and, apparently in the UK, that means it comes with a code to download the game, rather than it being pre-installed on the console. So hopefully the eShop won't be slow on day one...

Are you guys planning on doing a full system transfer from your original Switch to your Switch 2, or keeping them as separate units? I have a NSO account, hence my save data is backed up in the cloud, so I'm hoping I can start my Switch 2 as a fresh console and then just access save data for each game when I put it in (eg BotW and TotK).

Looks really nice, mines is getting on now as well, have they mentioned anything about a new one? Apart from the oled which is the present gen
Not yet, but they don't tend to announce new consoles in advance, they usually just spring them on us at the Nintendo Directs.

Nintendo repairs are awful in my experience. They sent back joycons "fixed" but didn't package them very well and one of them was smashed by the time I got it back. It was many many weeks with no joycons. Should have just bought some new ones then returned the drifting ones.

People seem outraged by the switch expansion pack to play n64 games, but it's "only" £15 extra. With how high Nintendo price things I expected more quite frankly. Yes it is expensive to rent to play 20 year old games but if you get a couple of hours of entertainment a year then it's not that much.

This has me sold to be fair, off to charge my Switch, been trying to get my sister's old N64 for the past ten years but she refuses despite it gathering dust in her bedroom at my parents where she doesn't even live.

So this seems a far better alternative. Looks like they do Mega Drive games too which throws me having lived through the console wars of the early 90s.

Has anyone else been playing skyward sword?

I just want to finish it now, but the final boss stuff is too difficult to me no matter how much I watch guides that say just jump back. :( Don't think I can go and find any more hearts and each time I want to try it I need to go right back to the top inside the temple to sit down to refill the hearts
I haven't sorry, is there no way to change difficulty settings? Maybe just set it as easy just for the one battle?

I think the magnets will be great, they're known for making durable lasting products. I think they released the teaser now as production is ramping up and they're worried about leaks.

The events to let people try it out runs until June, I was thinking it would be a Q3 or even Q4 release. I think they'll want to have loads of units made and release, then have enough of a gap that they get a second holidays surge.

Nintendo Switch 2 Experience host cities and schedule. All dates are local.
North America:

  • New York, April 4-6, 2025
  • Los Angeles, April 11-13, 2025
  • Dallas, April 25-27, 2025
  • Toronto, April 25-27, 2025
Europe:
  • Paris, April 4-6, 2025
  • London, April 11-13, 2025
  • Milan, April 25-27, 2025
  • Berlin, April 25-27, 2025
  • Madrid, May 9-11, 2025
  • Amsterdam, May 9-11, 2025
Oceania:
  • Melbourne, May 10-11, 2025
Asia:
  • Tokyo (Makuhari), April 26-27, 2025
  • Seoul, May 31-June 1, 2025
  • Hong Kong, To be announced
  • Taipei, To be announced
The release date that has been milling about for a while is September and I reckon that could be bang on, enough time to get the experiences complete while also releasing far enough ahead of Christmas they’ll likely be able to deliver all preorders and have (perhaps limited) stock getting to shops.

The GameCube was a great console. I loved the mini discs. I got one of those fairly soon after launch. I remember using an online store stocker to find an Argos about 40 miles away had one. So I quickly ordered it for click and collect and hopped on the train. When I got there, I realised the Argos was at least 2 miles away from the station and there didn't seem to be any buses, so I walked there and back! The things we do for gaming. 😂
Damn that’s commitment. I don’t think we got GameCube anywhere near launch. Actually the Switch 2 is the first console I’ll be getting on launch.
But the biggest mystery of our childhood is ‘what the hell happened to the GameCube?’ That thing just vanished. Not the games. Just the console. Everyone claims they don’t know anything. Thank god the Wii was backwards compatible.

Yeah I'm an old school Zelda fan, so the weapon durability annoyed me too at the start. But in the end I got used to it and, once you know where most weapons can be obtained, you don't mind so much about them breaking. If they'd made it so you got to permanently keep one of every weapon in the game, your inventory would need to be massive.

Also, regarding potions, apart from some specific parts, you can largely ignore them. For example the 'speed up' potion is only really needed if you want to go a bit quicker, but you don't have to. Defence/attack potions help if you're struggling with certain enemies or bosses, but aren't required, and so on.

I do get the objections, as I had them myself, but I ended up playing the game so much that they ended up being second nature. I've never been one for PC gaming, so my 'to play' list is small. :D

I hope the next Zelda game (which, let's face it, will be for the next generation Nintendo console) is a bit more like traditional Zelda, though. By that I mean the return of proper dungeons with big keys/compasses, plus a different Hyrule with weapons you get to keep. I miss it when dungeons gave you a new item (like the hookshot) that you needed to complete the dungeon and kill the boss, plus it meant you could suddenly explore more of the map.

We have a Zelda 3DS XL and when I got together with my OH he had a Goldeneye N64, it was pretty cool.

Yeah voice chat is good. I saw lots complaining about it saying "you can just use discord for chat!" or "why add it now and act like it's revolutionary?"

But I've come to realise there are lots of gamers who seem to criticise Nintendo regardless. 😂 I don't mean you btw!
Yeah I've seen discord mentioned so many times an personally am not keen on it, like I have it but I'd rather not use it for voice chat, an really that could be used for everything like why use PS chat or Xbox chat when there's discord, so makes no sense people bring it up for Nintendo lol

I've always found it funny when people shit on one system then praise another, like they don't all have their flaws lol, like I enjoy the Nintendo games an is why I'll be getting my switch 2, an a lot of the Nintendo games you don't get on other systems as well, but Nintendo as a company themselves are crap, same with Microsoft an Sony as companies, I like Xbox an PS games but the companies suck, I really don't like this whole idea they are putting out that you won't ever "own" your game an its just the license your paying for which means it can be shut down at any time (thanks Sony) an the fact they are trying to make £80 normal for games (thanks Nintendo) but I'll still support studios especially the indie studios an buy games whenever I can while hating their overlords 😂
