Very unpopular opinion. But if I was godforbid to go missing… I earn £500 a week in my bank nhs job. I would instantly not be being paid, as it’s bank. My husband would not be working, because of the obvious. We would instantly be financially fucked. So if the money is paying for bills and food on the table while they go through this horrendous time I have no issue with that. Missing or not bills need to be paid, and food on the table. She’s a mortgage broker, same as my hubby. No work is no money. Add in possible existing financial issues (which I wish everyone would stop judging them for!)…. Not everyone has savings. We don’t currently. What the family are going through is the worst of the worst. If financial burdens can be eased in this time for the sake of a load of people donating a fiver, why not? If you can’t afford to donate? Don’t.

also. As and when Nicola is found…. Whether drowned, murdered. Whatever you believe… if the money means the husband can spend the next year being with his girls every minute of the day to ease their mental suffering then I’m all for it. And if the money is put Away for the girls one day, it’s a small compensation fortheir mum being taken away that May one day make their life easier which will be bloody well deserved after the suffering they will go through.

And if they use it to pay for private investigations, speciality searches then good for them. If my family member was missing I’d leave absolutely no stone unturned and if I had to beg borrow and steal to do it then too bloody right I would.

You don’t have to donate. Yes some people can’t afford to heat their homes etc like ive seen people saying on twitter, but that will be the case go fund me or no go fund me. It’s not taking away from those people.
Sorry I’ll get off my soap box now…

Genuine question and I don't mean this bluntly or intend to upset anyone. I'll pop it behind a spoiler so as not to cause offence.

If the police are adamant she entered the river and there are no other lines of enquiry, when does the search end? As dreadful as this is for her poor family and friends, they can't put these resources into the investigation forever. The police seem pretty certain, so what next?

Still praying for Nicola and her loved ones.
I mentioned in a previous thread that my husband had drowned. Once they were certain he had entered the water the search was called off and we just had to wait for his body to surface. It took 7 weeks.

Can anyone start a GFM?
Yep. And you don’t even have to spend the money on what you say you are going to spend the money on. You have to be so careful who you donate to and be prepared they may use the money for something else instead. I very rarely donate to GFM now.

The Ashely Cain thread is a good example of this! Over £1m unaccounted for that they said would go to children with cancer.

That GFM being created has left a bad taste in my mouth and I am beginning to think of unlikely and ridiculous scenarios. £100k? When people are offering their services and volunteers searching for Nicola with their own free time at no charge? Taking the piss. If it does turn out to be a friend or family member there’s something off about the entire thing. Shannon Matthews springs to mind

In the next recap, in massive bold letters, any objections to

the dog was dry but that does not matter

the conference call was on mute and camera was off so no one saw or heard anything

three people saw her on the walk

her husband is not a suspect

I detest GFMs, sickening that this situation is being monetised. It’s also sickening that Nicolas friend who appears on interviews is done up to the nines every. Single. Time.
I’m not expecting her to be looking as rough as arseholes but come on now
This is in such bad taste.

To be honest, the friends and family members comments to the public stating X,Y and Z as facts and now thisGFM makes me very uneasy about the whole thing. They would really be best to step back and let the experts do their jobs. This just seems so crass. 100K! 🤢

Sorry but she’s been missing for two weeks not months, they absolutely do not need money at this stage. Fair enough if she’s found and they need funeral costs but this is a disgrace.

Continuing from previous thread.

SGI began to assist in searches on Monday, they haven’t had any success as yet and now say it may take 3 - 4 days to complete their searches.

No further Police updates on Monday.

Late on Monday night there was Police and Coastguard activity at Shard Bridge which is around 7 miles from where Nicola’s phone was found, towards the sea. Unconfirmed (Twitter and FB) reports are that it was usual search activity and/or a cyclist having been knocked off his bike.

Previous thread recap of what we know from police statements and news updates:
  • It was normal for Nicola to park at school, drop her daughters off, and start the walk from there.
  • The map shows location of sightings of Nicola.
  • The photo of the river bank shows the drop down to the water. The police diver had to be helped out by 2 people.
  • Nicola’s phone, along with her dog Willow’s harness and lead, were found on or near the bench shown in top left of the photo.
  • Willow was dry when found so hadn’t been in the water - any dog owners will know that this does not mean that she did or didn’t see Nicola in the water. It simply means that the dog did not go in.
  • Willow wasn’t wearing her harness and that was normal on a walk, it was usually removed along with the lead for that part of the walk.
  • They didn’t usually take a ball but it’s not certain that they didn’t on this day.
  • Willow was found agitated, running between the bench and gate to the field.
  • A family friend has shared a post on Facebook clarifying that Nicola’s partner was working from home, where they have CCTV, which rules him out in any suspicion of foul play. The fact he answered his phone at home would also be able to be used as proof of his location, if necessary.
  • Nicola’s partner has never been a suspect and the Police have been clear from the beginning that this is a missing person enquiry.
  • Nicola’s family are keeping all possibilities open in the hope of Nicola’s safe return, which is absolutely understandable.
  • This link summarises all known information https://www.lancs.live/news/lancashire-news/everything-know-nicola-bulley-desperate-26150457
The police have stated that the most likely situation is that Nicola has sadly somehow entered the water.

Nicola was wearing a coat, long gilet, and wellies, which would quickly weigh you down in water and be extremely difficult to remove.

If this is the case, it is likely to be some time until her body is found. The undercurrents are strong, the water there is dangerous, and the depth reaches ~18ft at high tide.

It’s easy to get carried away when posting online, so please let’s all remember that there is a missing person in the middle of this.
A daughter. A partner. A sister. A mum.

My old best mate was an Emma White. I could’ve been struck by lightening in the middle of town and she’d have made it about her. Nothing but self absorbed winnets wanting some attention. Hopefully if everyone ignored her she’ll go away

Its something my brain just flagged. I have a journo degree and NVQ I write well when I write novels
social media or texts I am happily sloppy as I am only focused on expressing me verbally

and its something that was instinctive about the writing.
It didnt require me thinking it just stood out
Reminding its the morning twice
Start of day and later morning
Spooky

It just made me think a lot of details there but written there picturing out alone
Setting up the scenario for a future event of so called random attack. Its spooky. I wouldve started with that word at least.

Now you say that
l remember reading a comment somewhere that on the date of post something in her life happened financialIy and they found it online publically perhaps companies house?

That could also be a little clue again

Its minor but I see an angle here.
Sorry but I don’t understand why you’re projecting your sloppy writing onto Nicola? Just because you don’t write in coherent sentences on social media doesn’t mean that’s true for absolutely everyone else.

Just adding my two cents.
I've been dipping in and out of these threads (so sorry if I'm repeating things already said), her disappearance has been on my mind. I guess it's because of the the short time-frame she disappeared in. I think she fell in the water, whether it be an accident, crime, or suicide (I believe accident).
I do think people underestimate how easy it is to drown. I grew up near the sea, and an estuary. I love water, swimming and the beauty of it.
But I also know the dangers. It was drilled into me as a child.
In my late teens I volunteered as a beach lifeguard, in my mid 20s I went on to join the RNLI for a few years. I'm only writing all of this to tell you that I know how treacherous wild bodies of water can be, also drowning isn't like in the movies or tv shows. It's mostly silent. An arm in the air, a head bobbing above and then going under the water.
The fact the water would be ice cold, and that she was wearing winter clothes also adds to her inability to save herself, and even if someone had seen her, they also probably wouldn't have been able to save her.
Her dog, is not an issue in the case for me, dogs are not like Lassie, they don't always alert others to trouble, or heroically try to save their owners (even if they love them) they are animals, and will act in line to their nature.

Emma White needs to settle herself down I think
It’s such an ignorant thing for her to have done. She knows full well people are looking at members of the family suspiciously (I’m not one of them) and now she’s giving people more reason. If they didn’t have a bean I could understand, or even further down the line and I‘ve defended them all the way through this but it doesn’t sit well with me either. Not because I think they’re involved in any way I just think it’s inappropriate, especially at the moment.

I don't think the family have anything to do with this GFM, it's probably an over-zealous friend who wants to broadcast how great a friend (and therefore) a person they are. You get it all the time on Facebook: Someone will do a good deed and instead of being humble they'll make a post to make sure everyone knows how humble they are.
I’d be mortified if anyone ever did that for me or my family.
E.g. I’d prefer to have a no frills council funeral than expect other people to pay for a more lavish one.
I hate the whole GFM mentality.
Sadly money won’t bring her back. 😣
