New housemate struggles…

I love you guys!! So, I’ve been bored at home all day whilst she was at work so I’ve rearranged the house back to how it was and taken all ‘communal’ household items like toilet roll and cleaning stuff out of the bathroom and the kitchen … I realised she’d been using all my stuff then when it runs out replacing it but hiding it and not sharing🤦🏼‍♀️. She’s just got home took one look at the kitchen and went straight to her room without even saying hello … I’m just enjoying a glass of wine in my old front room 😂
Good for you!!

I did write a long reply last week and my bloody phone died on me and it wasn’t saved! I am hoping that she doesn’t do the same to you when you are next out of the property?

I think the way she waded into the place throwing out your belongings and rearranging without asking was out of order and very inconsiderate. She’s trying to be the alpha female and test to see what she can get away with!

I think once the dust settles maybe suggest having a chat about how how you are going to live together, as you know you don’t have to be friends, but you do have to live together. I’m hoping it’s early teething problems and you will be able to live together amicably.

As someone else posted boundaries are really important here. I think she’s gotten away with doing that to others for so long. It would be nice to be able to speak to her without her acting like a child. I’ve shared with a lot of people over the years and every person has their own habits and quirks, but being assertive and setting boundaries is key here.

Good luck 💜

Thanks everyone! There’s nothing really left for her to take … theres not even a bin bag in the communal bin 😂. She hasn’t said more than hello in 2 weeks so I’m going to suggest we have dinner one night this week and break the ice! I love living here and the location is amazing so fingers crossed things will get better!

Scratch all of the above haha I’ve woken up this morning and she’s rearranged the kitchen and the living room, used all of the only toilet roll I left out and 2 of the dining room chairs have disappeared 😂😂😂😂😂

I’ve said something and spoken to the landlord .. they’re coming to sort some stuff out next week so we shall see. I have covid at the moment so I think being stuck in the house is just making me a bit crazy!

Well done on standing up for yourself and saying something to the landlord. I've had some bad/super inconsiderate housemates in my time, but nothing quite as catastrophic as being locked out all night!!

She sounds like a real piece of work. I already said this in my previous post but I really think she's trying to get you out of there so she can move a friend in.

Hopefully the landlord takes your side on this as you've been there longer and she's being a total nightmare.

This makes an insane amount of sense.

Knock on her door and then her when she opens it. Or maybe don't but tell her to buy back your bog roll

I genuinely can’t believe people like this exist. I’m gobsmacked by how weird she is. I hate making things awkward or thinking I’ve annoyed people, so I can’t get my head around her doing exactly that.

It genuinely seems she is trying to get you out of there, just by the way she is getting on. It's like she is playing a game to see how far she can push you before you leave. Don't let her win OP. She seems like a spoilt wee witch tbh.

I remember when I studied abroad I lived with 5 other girls in a halls of residence type flat. Everyone was normal and easy enough to live with, other than this girl who moved in last. She moved everyone’s stuff around in the kitchen, even putting other people’s pots and pans randomly in a draw under the tv!?! She did all this when we were out and didn’t introduce herself for days. Her girlfriend basically lived with her too, so that was extra food and drink space taken up in the fridge. They put their names on everything as well. The first thing they said to us one day was ‘who’s the BACON girl?’ referring to the smell of bacon cooking that they objected to. They then had the cheek to routinely fry fish!

Sorry my notifications for this thread disappeared 🤦🏼‍♀️. No real updates, we just don’t speak AT ALL … literally no more than a hello 😂. She just stays in her room and I text her when the bills are due … such strange vibes! She does makeup on the side and she had people round all weekend doing their faces and I sat on the sofa and drank wine with them … they were way more fun than her but I’m not sure she should be using the living room as a makeup studio 😂

As long as she's stopped mucking you about!
Ironically her clients probably think *she's* amazing because of you! I'd love to get drunk after getting my makeup done! 😂
