May and Mae (actually a legitimate spelling) would be fine as a first name, but so overdone as a middle name.Up until this thread I really liked Mae... now I am not so sure.

My friends son is an Aidan, spelt the traditional Irish way, I really like it, he is 17 & I think it’s become more popular over the yrs, I hate the alternative spellings Aiden, Ayden, Aydan, Aeden etc....Whats wrong with Aiden!? I like it but hate that its getting so popular
Haha! I’ve never heard Hugh become Hughie only Shug. In Scotland Hugh aka Shug is a man in his 50s with a strong West coast accent, no hair and a beer bellyHughie/Hewie
You just know anyone with this name is gonna grow up to be a pompous duck.
I have an Aiden (we're an irish&scottish family), i prefer how it looks as en, but i had always seen both spellings anyway. These extra ways of ayden? My Gran is Scottish and pronounces KARL as CAROL. Always bugs me.Haha! I’ve never heard Hugh become Hughie only Shug. In Scotland Hugh aka Shug is a man in his 50s with a strong West coast accent, no hair and a beer bellyNot a name I jump to for a child. Or Hugo
Speaking of Scottishness...
KARL.
Scottish accents, all of them, cannot and I mean CANNOT say this name. There will be an extra “u” sound in there to become karUUUUl.
bear that in mind when naming your sons![]()
every amy I know is a bleep.Double barrelled names so lexi-mae etc
For some reason I really dislike Amy. It’s the way it sounds. To me just doesn’t sound nice.
Dislike any names with made up spellings.
Boys names I would say things like Jayden, Kayden, Kyle.
But then I have classic boring names for my children and people might think how unoriginal and dull. So each to their own
I kinda wanted to name my kid Reggie after Elton John (I’m a big fan don’t judgeSomeone on my Facebook named their baby BRIAN! Like he’s a 70 year old man
Also hate Ronnie & Reggie. Why would you want to name your child after a gangsta.
And Freddie & Frankie
People have no imagination now days.
I’m from Glasgow, I literally cannot say “Karl” without it sounding, as you say, like “Carol.” I’ve tried it so many times. My Gran is Scottish and pronounces KARL as CAROL. Always bugs me.
Oh gosh, yes! I haven't heard it in years but I knew someone who referred to their child as "sexy little man". Weird IMOAwful names aside, and off-topic, but I cannot bear it when mums refer to their young children as 'sexy'. I have an old school friend on Facebook who constantly refers to her 4 year old son as 'my sexy widdle boy'I hear it quite often where I am (rough Northern town). Makes my skin crawl.
Hahah!! I’m the same! And it’s even worse if any of my Central Scotland family say it. The “u” goes in and it’s Car-UUUUL.I’m from Glasgow, I literally cannot say “Karl” without it sounding, as you say, like “Carol.” I’ve tried it so many times.![]()
