I was just going to say the same 🤣 Someone will post about a vile, toxic, narcissistic mother (for example) and without fail someone else will say ‘at least you still have a mum. Mine’s been dead 5 years and I’d do anything to have them back 😢
That one is on Reddit isn’t she? Every other post is about her dead husband. It’s sad but she kind of dominates everything.

This thread is really sad. A woman has found out her husband has been having an affair and he’s now left her. They were childhood sweethearts so it’s hit her heard. It’s taken about seven posts before some heartless bint has come along and told her that her husband is ‘probably on Tinder as well seeing what is out there’. What are these women on? There is no evidence whatsoever to support that claim, and it’s probably the last thing the OP needs to hear given how upset she obviously is. I wonder do they even think before they spout the tit they come out with?

I think it's time to close this thread.

We could have a discussion about mumsnet the company - report to get it reopened if Justine starts emotive begging or something again.

But I don't think talking about mumsnet posters will yield anything good. It's a site infamous for trolls and winding people up. Best to ignore these people and not give them the attention they crave.

Tend to your own garden springs to mind.

Opening to ask can anyone open this ODS file and see how much mumsnet limited claimed?

It seems to crash excel and google sheets for me although it's "only" 25mb, but I guess that's larger than most spreadsheets

Edit, it finally opened after hanging for 15 mins.

Looks like they stopped claiming in Dec last year, probably because they knew it would become public. Shocking that they claimed for so long for their online buisness as it would have only been slightly affected in the first few weeks of covid before going back to normal and they begged for £5 a month from their millions of members.

I wish they’d put the money to good use and modernise the forum. It’s so dated and the fact you can’t edit posts is ridiculous, considering you’ve been able to do it on Digital Spy and others for years. The excuse is that they like to let the post ‘stand as it is’ whatever that means?

Probably a dumb question but how many real members does it have?

For instance, say if they had 10 million registered members but as you know a lot of people name change a lot for various reasons. Are they counting the same person twice and that pushes up the numbers?

It's just so often l see the same old members dishing it out and a lot of people who are regulars say they have changed their username.

I think name changing is a shocking idea. I could set up a persona over there as a die hard Tory then name change and become a Corbynista, be anti NHS and pro private health care, then decide the NHS is awesome. A lot of trolls become unstuck when they forget to namechange and are rumbled by claiming to be a victim of DV whilst also being a happily married mother of 6.

You’ll get people who joined in 2010, asked a question about what jarred baby food is best then been attacked for not knitting their own lentil stew, so not gone back. Those people will still be counted as members.

It’s literally a troll paradise.

Agree, also it's so judgemental of anyone who doesn't have a 5000k income and doesn't have their breastfeeding child attached at age 6.

Pre Covid, I remember reading a thread, a nice lady who was having a birthday party for their child, but underestimated how many balloons and goody bags she needed, she said she was a single mum and didn't have much cash. And any advice would be appreciated.

The first reply was go to the Pound Shop, quick they have what you need.

But the rest of the thread was members having a go at her, for using balloons and non recycling ♻ products.

Absolutely no help to her just "think of the environment" preaching

If she was a middle class woman who was having a birthday party for little Tarquin and needed to know where to get the same recycled things tat for the party, the replies would have been very different.

Exact same thing on the larger families board! It annoys me and I don't even have any kids.

I bet that was Crumbs, her of the hotel bedroom pictures and sheeps with fairy lights. If you know you know. There are more fantasists on mn than anywhere else online.

People with large families do affect the environment though, surely that’s just fact not Mumsnet nastiness?
I think it's mainly about how it's said though.

I personally used the bereavement and mental health forums. There were some nice posters.

My all time favourite troll. She could probably be my specialist subject on Mastermind.

She’s on her (at least) third name-change now and has reduced the number of (fake) children she has, but her haughty, sneering inaccuracies are so blatant they’re visible from space.

The MN mods know full well that she’s a troll (it’s been proven to them several times), but for some reason they cover for her. No idea why 🤷‍♀️

Someone on their today said they don't consider anyone with 100 million extraordinarily wealthy. I'll try and get a screenshot.
You have to be completely delulu in the head to believe half of the rit that comes out of the mouths of people on Mumsnet.

It’s literally a place for bored housewives who’s husbands have long stopped getting it up and their kid is not as perfect as they thought they’d be so they construct a perfect life in their head on an anonymous board in hopes that other bored housewives will believe them and be envious of them.

Yeah I enjoyed her efforts. I remember the hotel bedroom thread with fondness. I imagine she has had many incarnations over the years, and mumsnet have just given up trying to rid the place of her, at least as this account shes fairly harmless, albeit not completely benign.
