Some of the posters are treated like royalty despite being really nasty pieces of work. All posters are equal but some are more equal than others.

Another thing that pissed me off is some threads/forums are completely closed to new posters. They treat it like a private member's club and either ignore you or bully you until you go away. It's horrible and allowed to happen by the so-called mods.

Whereas whenever a new poster joins a thread here I've only seen lovely, welcoming messages, apart from when the new poster is obviously only joining to troll us.

I used to be a regular contributor to MN and gave a lot of my specialist knowledge gratis. No longer after Justine's begging email, though. Not paying when I provided your content, you numpty.

This link isn't working for me ☹
I don’t think cliqueyness is anywhere near as bad as it used to be though. I know when I first joined MN, there were some very well known members on there who’d been there since it’s inception. Someone would start a thread, get a few answers then one of the MN royalty would rock up and disagree and so everyone would start agreeing with them. And then it would pages of *waves to ‘MN Royalty Poster’* *waves to so and so* *sits on bench next to MN Royalty*. It was bleeping tedious in the extreme.
Tbh, it’s getting a bit like that on here on some threads. There’s some cracking derailing going on one particular thread, but it seems a bit mean to report it. I know you get to know certain posters, but stick to the topic in hand, for gawds sake.

Justine has completely overestimated the goodwill that most posters have for MN. I think it used to be there but the inconsistent modding, the fact that individual posters in FWR were targeted and picked off by people who weren't even on the forum and the sheer number of idiotic name-changing to troll the place have been its downfall.

Oh and the fact that they promoted AIBU so heavily so it has become somewhere to go when you’re in a bad mood to give some random person a good kicking

Hilarious title to the round robin email today - ‘what’s the most expensive thing you’ve ruined in the shortest period of time’, which in justine’s case is her business this week!

I’ve come to all this back to front as per usual! I saw a thread over on MN pointing to mums.chat then popped over to here. So mums.chat is deffo an offshoot of Tattle? Will join if so. Mumsnet is a ridiculous place, most of the posters over there are full of tit and so nasty, you literally can’t have a conversation or ask for simple advice about anything.

i came to tattle when a certain ‘influencer’ told me to using her #hashtag and it’s such a breath of fresh air where people interact with each other and actually read what is written in a post.

anyone remember Handbag.com? That exploded overnight when they messed around with the site, albeit they weren’t asking for cash but it shows how quickly it can all go wrong.

I was a ‘Bagger.

They spectacularly fucked up when they tried to separate the mums from the herd. The disdain Handbag treated the mums on there back then is quite reminiscent of how Justine & co behave now.

Handbag also spawned quite a few breakaway forums.

Yes it did didn’t it? Tattle is the only other ,one since where I’ve felt like I could be part of it all. I used to be on Damsels but never really ‘got it’ , I can’t recall the others now!

Damsels went the same way after a few years. Damsella wanted to make money from the site and it went tits up. She did a reasonably good job up until that point though. I suppose at the time she looked at how Mumsnet and Netmums were growing exponentially and wanted a piece of the action. Damsels probably pre-dated Mumsnet but Justine was the one who got lucky.

I don’t understand how they can charge £4.99 a month for a promise of an edit button for 10 seconds after you post when I can do that here for free.

I was originally on digital spy when someone recommended AIBU for laughs and I stuck round mainly lurking but my goodness it’s so nasty especially the stepparents section. I’m sure people just hang around there to be nasty.

I’ve been on digital spy, the old Waterloo road fourms and gg and tattle is the only place where I feel welcomed and part of something and not shut out of a crappy little cliche and made to feel like an outsider.

I’ve only recently joined Tattle this week, after I was directed here when the Jack Monroe thread was deleted twice - despite it a) not being bullying and b) you can say what you want about Meghan Markle, but saying Jack Monroe is an attention seeker and that’s it, thread is gone.

I only really look at AIBU, but as soon as coronavirus broke out the place turned into a total shitshow. There’s always the stock answers as said previously, and it’s like people get off on tearing people down who are genuinely looking for help and that puts me of. On a couple of occasions I’ve challenged the trolls on there, and when I did that more and more people came out agreeing with what I’d said, so it leads me to think people are scared to say what they really think because of the trolls and how they dominate every conversation.

I read a post today about the schools going back, and some idiot said it would be January 2021, cue a whole load of people disagreeing. This virus is what most of them have been waiting for, a chance to curtain twitch, spy on their neighbours and call 101 to their hearts content. There’s some posters on there and I’ll look at their name and immediately not read their posts as I know it’s going to be horrid to the original poster.

The site really is past its sell by, and not worth paying for in the slightest.

It’s so strange how some topics are completely off limits on mn (Jack Monroe, the McCanns) but others are a free for all. At least here you get consistency and can tit talk who ever you like 🤣

I mean....

posts like this one? What the hell. I’m pretty sure most of Mumsnet wants you to sit in a darkened room in the corner having no fun whatsoever during lockdown. Eating basic rice or pasta. No bread or milk as they aren’t essential items.
What a miserable woman. Maybe their hob/oven broke and they fancied a full English.

Hi, can you point me in the direction of the link you saw, I got there too late and it was already deleted. I think it might be time for me to find a new virtual home 😀

How nasty- you seem to get that on the internet and I heard that there are some spin off mumsnet groups that are heavily in to doxxing too, apparently passing round addresses and names. People were finding out where people live from the old Christmas appeals info swaps.

I was blissfully unaware until then how deranged some people are.

Did you say anything before you left?
The only time I've heard of doxxing happening is, there was one poster who would constantly post bragging about her fabulous lifestyle and perfect family and it was suspected trolling - on a thread where posters were asked to post a photo of their bedroom, she posted a photo of a hotel room some 5* place in Paris 😂 After this, she still insisted that everything she said was true and I saw some posters looking at exif data on other photos she'd posted etc

Then when some started the Reddit MNTrolls this continued over there.

They are frothing at the mouth, ready for any picture to come online that they can be outraged by.

Don’t get me wrong, large groups of people yes, be disgusted. But two people doing a dance, in a park without anyone at all around isnt the worst example we’ve seen. People on Mumsnet will find absolutely anything to complain about on there. By 10pm it’ll be 200 comments about how these people should be locked up for life.

Gosh yes, however they still posted her real name and her son’s name there. You can’t claim the higher ground after doing that. The trouble is that some mods are scared of the bully girls and won’t put their foot down.
Shocking.

Is it me or is Mumsnet viscous? I’ve posted a few times on there, nothing unreasonable, and the commenters just attack! And they have the cheek to moan about Tattle being “bullying”
I know this is a very old post but i agree they are vicous. Me and hubs cant get pregnant but of course were trying a few years ago and we were just wondering about money, certain types of benefits that we may be able to claim. I cant remember what i put but it was a nice enough post, simply explaining our current financial situation, affording mat leave etc...what might we be able to claim whilst off work......OMG you would think i was trying to diddle the benefits system the answers i got!
Anyway deleted my account after telling them all to calm their tits 🤣🤣🤣

Nodding away at this! Years ago while TTC 2008 I think, mumsnet was a great lifeline. Also gave me the strength to leave the bastard in 2011. It’s nothing like it was, I haven’t ventured in there for years now. Waitrose this, France holiday home that. Not relatable at all.
