I think the reason its nicer here is because we are are meeting like-minded people. Whether on a rave thread or thinking critically about someone we are talking to people about something we have in common.

Can anyone briefly explain the David thing from mumsnet I've not heard of that?

So do I, I asked some thicko parents to stop letting their toddler chase a duck who was so exhausted it couldn’t get back over the wall to the river. They were feeding the ducks to encourage them and then letting their child chase them.

Horrible ,respect for birds/animals starts from the early years.
But if the duck had have attacked the child...can they do that?.....then the parents would be up in arms and demand it be destroyed when their little brat was being a cunt to it in the first place!

The feral kids round my way chase all the cats. One ran into a hedge whilst two urchins prodded sticks into the hedge. No wonder when you see a cat round here it goes star shaped and fucks off!

I read a really sad thread yesterday about a woman who’s son was forcibly adopted a decade ago because of an abusive partner, and the amount of people who were blaming her or not believing her because ‘social services don’t do that’ was actually sickening.. victim blaming at its finest. I have never read such a sad thread and the amount of people purposefully still putting the boot in was so awful 😞 i will definitely be taking a break
I saw that as well. It was horrible wasn’t it? Social Services absolutely do make mistakes, its true that they only remove children as a last resort but that’s not always gospel and the OP was clearly very distressed.

Just signed up tonight due to the AF business, what a bunch of sycophants on mumsnet and it was the final straw for loss of critical thinking on that site.

My dad used to be a taxi driver so I always tip! I always feel like a lazy bitch when I cba walking 10 mins from the pub to our house, the fare only comes to like £2.80 so I always say to keep the change from a fiver :ROFLMAO:

Also in my pub days I was once absolutely fuming when I spent hours waiting on this family table of 12 in the restaurant when there was a big football match on, if I was behind the bar I would have been raking it in in tips, the bill came to over £200 and when they had paid the dad ushered me over and pressed 50p into my hand! I would rather have had nothing 😂

Tipping is another thing that starts a war anyway on Mumsnet. 'Oh I never tip my hairdresser and it costs £££££' I'm surprised she doesn't leave your peroxide on too long so your hair snaps off love!
Yeah I was a thread about tipping and I tip my hairdressers, I thought everybody did and yes, WW3 came on..I started a war when I said “doesn’t every women below age 40 shave their vagina”, jeez 🤣🤣🤣 I was told I think I’m a porn star and lots of other shit!!

Im all for anyone having any kind of wedding they want, but hate how the members on mumsnet automatically assume anyone who has spent more than £1k on their wedding is grabby or their relationship is obviously lacking something.

a bigger wedding doesn’t make you better but neither does a quickie with no fuss

Also god forbid the topic of money gifting comes up on one the wedding threads!

people have actually said even though bride and groom have requested money (because you know its 2021 and people have already built their homelife and don’t need 5 kettles), just to spite them they have given them a gift! i mean wtf!? You’re literally wasting your money to make your petty point.

I think i had a few of those at our wedding.

i have 18 champagne flutes which I have no use for sitting in my cupboards gathering dust.

The cup of tea/dinner tea is such a source of debate on MN yet I can’t imagine a scenario where this would ever occur for it to be such an issue. Presumably, unless you are at a family or a friends house or have gone there specifically to eat, it’s unlikely that someone you hardly know is going to ask you to sit down and have an evening meal with them. And if it’s someone you do know then surely it’s just along the lines of:

“Do you want some tea?”
“I’m not really hungry, thanks.”
“I meant a cup of tea.”
“Oh, haha! Go on then, I wouldn’t say no.”

Tbh MN is the worst and I think it’s because lots of clueless MC folks use it, whereas this site has younger women I think but pathetic folks aren’t exclusive to MN, I’ve seen some questionable posts on here being hysterical about folks breaking the rules...and god forbid anyone has fun during this time *eyeroll*

This has (for the most part) been my experience in real life too. The working class/downright poor people that I know (including myself here!) have more empathy to those less fortunate as we understand just how easy it is to get in those positions. The less money people have the more generous they have been with it too in my experience. And also us working class know how to throw a decent party 😂 I think the less 'real life' problems you have the more time you have to get in a flap about absolute bollocks. I would love to worry about letting a gardener use my toilet (a real aibu I have just picked up on there for an example! 🙄) but I'm too busy worrying about whether I should pay my rent or feed my children on my laughable wage.
Sorry I’m a bit late to the party here. It always stuck out to me how many people on MN had cleaners, not that there’s anything wrong with that if you can afford one, but they were constantly accusing them of stealing, it was awful! The final straw for me was when someone posted saying a brand new bottle of pink gin had suddenly become half empty and it HAD to be the cleaner, not her teenage son or husband who she later disclosed had previously been an alcoholic 🤦‍♀️

People from a working class background are as a rule the most kind and generous and give you the shirt off their back. Back in my barmaid days I would get tipped every drink off working class men/women, then your high day and holiday middle class customer would order a ton of drinks, talk to you like you’re a moron, not say please or thank you and not leave any tip!

I could also never get over how naive some people on MN come across, like they have never lived in the real world, dealt with normal folk or ever been in any kind of real life sketchy situation (not that that’s a bad thing!) oh and you’re an alcoholic if you have a drink any other time than on Christmas and no more than a glass of champagne then at that 😂

I'm always utterly shocked and appalled at how vicious they all are on there. I've rarely seen a more toxic platform.

What's wrong with them? I don't get why anyone would want to spent their time being so horrible every day, or why they sit and take it from each other either.

Where I’m from it’s called Markies, nobody calls it anything else.

The poster who immediately told the OP to fuck off seems like an absolute peach. That poster completely sums up Mumsnetters to me.

I hate the passive aggressive confused faces that get posted on mumsnet. Usually followed by ‘this won’t end well’ by the posters who think they are the absolute oracle on mumsnet.
Sure as night turns to day they arrive with their wisdom. And they never namechange as they are not trolls (so they say).
And the flower and cake emojis 😂

I think those threads should be banned. Often, it's people desperately trying to conceive, and, as you say, posters give them false hope by telling them 'YES!! I can see a line, congratulations!' I also think pregnancy testing kits should come with advice telling people not to test until their period is at least one week overdue. Sensitive pregnancy tests pick up chemical pregnancies, which again gives false hope - and also grief at the pregnancy loss when menstruation arrives bang on time.

What do you all think about the rash of threads recently, where the poster has either felt something move in her stomach, or leaked colostrum, and subsequently finds out they are 30+ weeks pregnant? There were at least 4 separate threads by different posters, over the last few months.
I found out i was pregnant at 10.5 weeks and that was shocking enough. I'm still in shock 4 years later!! Agree with everything said about MN. A hateful bunch. Wish i could quit

Do you ever post on there or just read? I’ve only ever posted once when I had a problem with my radiators!!! There’s a plumber on there and ( I think it’s a he) is really helpful! Saved me calling out someone to look when one of them didn’t work 😂. Apart from that have never posted, it seems like it’s stuck in rut.
That was piglet John or something 🤔

I was a serious mumsnetter but usually stuck to the light hearted threads but I also loved a good troll thread. There was one prolific troll who kept name changing every time she got called out, I didn't like her at all. I must admit I went a bit crazy over her, I had her various user names written down on the back of an envelope 😆 🤣 .I didn't think she was harmless, she was building up to baby loss.
Some horrendous trolls flock to that site, I'm not sure why, fascinates me tbh.
