I'm going to come to you lot with my dilemma as posting on mumsnet would not be helpful in any way. What would you plan to wear to a summer wedding where the dress code is 'dress to impress'? I don't know if it means ball gowns, or just don't wear a tracksuit. Of course I could ask the bride but where's the fun in that. I'm a mumsnet certified fatty so maybe a sack dress would be a good idea

I suppose it depends who you’re trying to impress…

I’d say the fact you’re even thinking about it means you’re likely to be fine whatever you choose, I reckon it’s to discourage people being too casual. I wouldn’t go ball gown unless it was black tie…what kind of venue is it at?

That's what I was thinking but then started to think what if I just wear a normal wedding guest dress and everyone else has got their outfit advice from mumsnet, then I would look very unimpressive. It's at a manor house hotel thing

Someone has posted about wanting some advice for what to do with her savings and said she knows how lucky she is to be in a position to have saved £30k. It took about 4 replies for someone to come along and say £30k isn't exactly very much to have saved and could easily be wiped out

Weirdly, someone else also said that if OP got a basal cell carcinoma it would be used up straight away so OP should save it for healthcare costs. What the duck kind of advice is that

I would interpret dress to impress as a nice dress and a pair of heels, but obviously if you’re looking for an excuse to dress as a sister wife, don’t let me stop you

I'm glad you interpret it that way too. When I googled it I was getting people wearing ball gowns and all sorts. I would love to see what mumsnet would suggest I wear

I love this dress of mine from a few years ago. I style it up or down and everyone loves that it still fits. I know I need to lose a couple of kilos here but I love burgers and this is just me! I dress to impress but I eat for me kisses witches

Exactly. The invite literally just says 'dress code: dress to impress' and I read it and thought eh how weird and vague

And my personal favourite of the day, this one where OP didn't realise you had to flip the sticks even though it tells you to do that on the box ("it actually works!!" She says... of course it does, that's why it tells you to bloody do it!) and only remembered they're called reed diffusers 10 minutes after posting. Although, I do quite like changing it from reed diffuser to "little bottle of nice smells with sticks in it" .

This! This is how I see it going down, although it needs a Popsy pocket for your sausage roll.

You want the pursed lips and offended gripes to last longer than the marriage - and if your bank manager personally views your statements you know you’ve made an impression.
