Current AIBU where they're already arguing amongst themselves/being snarky to the OP.

DH’s best friend had a landmark birthday at the weekend so a group of them had a couple of nights away for a blow out. I’ve since learnt (DH proudly showing me photos) that on one of the nights, they hired a Dwarf to be handcuffed to his mate. Now, I know this is all above board and that he’d have been happily paid. But I just feel this is a bit morally bankrupt and feel sorry for him? Am I being a bit uptight and having a sense of humour failure or would anyone else not like this either?

I hate the term 'nork(s)'. Especially in the phrase 'large of nork' <shudder>

Also hate that they omit 'got' or 'have'. It reads so unnaturally. "I've a large pair of norks (think DD40)."

“Needs gone” irritates me too. I don’t know about it being regional. I hear it here in the US. I have a team member at work who says “this needs changed/canceled/removed” etc all the time. And I internally scream when I hear it.

This is normal Scottish vernacular. I learnt to speak like this - then was made to change at school in the south.

Someone I know did call their baby Greg after their recently deceased dad. However much you're grieving, you really need to think about your child.

Mine has a sentimental middle name (not english but was my grandparent’s) so he just uses the initial. Which was the plan all along

ETA if his grandad had been called Greg or some other tit name, he wouldn’t have got that either.

I've got a cousin Gregor - he's maybe 20 now, and don't think anyone has ever considered Greg as an outstandingly bad name choice.

I tried to read The Salt Path and gave up after about 2 pages (and I think it was sent to me in error by Amazon anyway). My neighbour (lovely) is a treehugger, hippy dippy free spirit yoga etc etc type. I offered the book to her and she said 'omg it's unreadable!' so that was another one for the chazza

Lady at church forced lent it to me. I gave it back after a couple of pages because I "hadn't got time to read it."

She's pretty annoyed that they are a pair of grifters, as she was so taken with their story she bought the second book as well (but not the third - apparently the second was boring).

I did read The Salt Path quite recently and enjoyed it for what it appeared to be at face value though I did raise an eyebrow at her very fuzzy explanation of how they lost their house (I worked in finance for 20 years). I suppose what grabbed me about it was not so much them but how prevalent true poverty is these days.

I've been reading it.

Another pair of grifters, the thread would fit in well on here. (And Tattlehas even been mentioned a few times on the threads without people declaring it's awful here!)
So she embezzled money from her employer, which was how they ended up losing their house. Their nephew called them pathological liars on LinkedIn. They may have exaggerated how ill "Moth" is. They told the landlord of the place they were staying he wasn't expected to live more than a few months, then went off on a 1000 mile hike, and wrote another book saying he's made a miraculous recovery! Yay for walking curing all ills!

He was probably doing a yoga while walking, everyone knows that's the cure for whatever ails ye.

I knew a Catholic family whose 6 children all had Mary as their first name - even the only boy! The oldest went by Mary, the rest all by their second names.

It's super common in catholic families, and in Latino culture to use Maria. My grandma and all of her sisters are Maria and they go by their second name, and the boys are all José and go by their second name. So Maria Francisca, Maria Veronica, Maria Guadelupe? Maria Julia, Maria Josefina, José Javier, José Ignacio, José Esteban, I'm forgetting a few. Makes paperwork a bleeping nightmare but I've heard stories that it made buying stuff underage a breeze.

I've a patient named Kent and I'm assuming it's a family name, but it does my head in when I'm calculating his dosages and wondering why a man in his fifties weighs 10 kilos, then I look and see he's bleeping two years old. Every time, it trips me up.
