No, names have to skip a couple of generations before they become trendy. So today’s kids will be naming their children Stephen, Susan, Richard, Linda, Sandra etc in about 20 years

“Needs gone” irritates me too. I don’t know about it being regional. I hear it here in the US. I have a team member at work who says “this needs changed/canceled/removed” etc all the time. And I internally scream when I hear it.

My daughters 3rd child was a boy thank god so his middle name is my husbands name. Had he been a girl her middle name would have been my mother's which is incredibly outing (genuinely!) and really not something you'd burden a 21st century girl with!
I know someone whose mum was called Lavinia which I quite like.
I have a friend called Lavinia and she hates it because people call her Lav
I know someone who has Lavinia as a middle name for every eldest female child in their family.
I knew a Catholic family whose 6 children all had Mary as their first name - even the only boy! The oldest went by Mary, the rest all by their second names.

DH’s best friend had a landmark birthday at the weekend so a group of them had a couple of nights away for a blow out. I’ve since learnt (DH proudly showing me photos) that on one of the nights, they hired a Dwarf to be handcuffed to his mate. Now, I know this is all above board and that he’d have been happily paid. But I just feel this is a bit morally bankrupt and feel sorry for him? Am I being a bit uptight and having a sense of humour failure or would anyone else not like this either?

Someone I know did call their baby Greg after their recently deceased dad. However much you're grieving, you really need to think about your child.
Mine has a sentimental middle name (not english but was my grandparent’s) so he just uses the initial. Which was the plan all along
ETA if his grandad had been called Greg or some other tit name, he wouldn’t have got that either.
To be fair I think Baby Greg sounds quite sweet. Kind of fits in amongst all the Arthurs and Freds.
You can always spot the little kids whose parents have dead parents. I know a Jane, a Kate, and Chris. a friend narrowly avoided being guilted into calling her daughter Angela. Baby Angela in 2025!
