Yes they are in my experience. But the parents will find a label to deflect from their poor behviour.

The thread about Jake Daniels has really upset me. How far up your own a do you need to be to think that a professional footballer is coming out as gay. This comment sums up most of the posters attitude nicely.

Agreed. It's really annoying when people say stuff like "no one cares about your sex life, keep it private", because they'll think nothing of talking about their opposite sex partner/spouse - not realising that reveals they're straight to everyone.
Like he said, he didn't want to hide it, always looking over his shoulder and worrying. At least he can be himself now and date a guy if he wants, without someone threatening to out him.
My cousin is a homosexual man and he says it is heterosexuals who bring up his sexuality. He gets homophobic abuse shouted at him in the street by people who have know way of knowing his sexuality. Sadly, if for whatever misguided reason someone suspects someone to be honosexual, the likelyhood is they will be taunted. It seems obvious why Jake decided to speak out. If you read the comments on the articles about it, you will see why it is important. Some of the Mumsnet users strike me as Section 28 championing TERFS who can't and won't have consideration for anyone who is different.
Where on earth do you live where strangers regularly abuse people in the streets? It sounds horrific.
What happened to "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all"? I don't really care. But I can see why things like this would be news. Part of me does hope he's come out to help others in a similar situation.

Imagine the fury if this was a man posting about his wife and commenting time isn't on her side?!
I'm enjoying the thread on there at the minute where the OP is asking but her wealthy friend is taking her on an all expenses paid holiday for the friends birthday. OP is too skint to afford a gift and is asking if it would be OK to not give one despite the free holiday. Cue loads of helpful suggestions for gifts that "only" cost £25-30-Jo Malone candles, nice silk scarves, champagne, Dior eye colour pallate, pick up an antique from a charity shop etc. Someone actually asked what the obsession was with scarves 
they're were some nice ideas like a photo book or something personalised off Etsy but all ignored the fact that the OP was skint.
I suspect it was all a wind up anyway as the OP had a bit of a name change fail halfway through!

I’m going to look for that one! I enjoyed the thread in chat about which Tiffany necklace the op should buy her daughter for her 16th. Not foreign but Gransnet is sometimes good for a wee browse. Unsurprisingly they also have an AIBU forum too.
The food snob one was good…some MN’s can only eat certain French butter/salt etc. Most of them can only eat Burford Brown eggs or Clarence Court (fair enough) but one mum said ‘even my toddler won’t eat the £1 ones unfortunately’ *sigh*
Some of them are quite xenophobic about the UK - according to some the UK is the most hated country in Europe, everyone in Europe thinks this , country is a laughing stock, British people dress badly and stand out a mile out so it's obvious they're British. British people don't try the local culture and just eat all inclusive or chips in Spain or bother to learn another language, which isn't strictly true.

My brother works in a school and one of his students aged 16 came out to him that she was a les so I'm hoping that this does some good with others in a similar situation.
