I’m another who loves Benidorm! Yes it’s tacky and rowdy in places, but you don’t have to have that if you don’t want. It’s quieter further out. It’s got lovely clean beaches and the old town is gorgeous. I also really liked Torerremolinos. I’m a complete chav in the eye of mumsnet!

I like Benalmadena and Mijas further along the road and enjoy day trips to Torremolinos.

It's an old fashioned term really, stems from the Middle Ages - certain towns would be given permission with a royal charter to hold their weekly market.

These days for sure a Mumsnet middle class term to use (see also: Emma Bridgewater does a 'Market Town' collection, of course).

My mum was a big evangelical Christian when I was growing up. I was bought up that Santa was evil. When I had my son, I really went too town about how magical Santa was. Probably too much as at the age of 13 he still believed!

Thinking about it, though, imagine any other scenario where some old man gained access to your house without being invited and let in, on the pretext of bringing gifts for your children...

I always look for presents for my Mum from Mint Velvet. It usually results in me getting told I spend too much but Mum’s worth it and they always seem to have some really nice clothes and jewellery in the collection,

I read that too. I didn't particularly like that dress, but I do like others from that brand.

Has anyone seen the thread about drag queens? MN getting their big knickers in a twist about drag queens being grotesque, scary and against womanhood.
Absolutely certain none of them have ever met or seen a drag queen in person.
If you're scared of a drag queen it shows you haven't got enough to do in your life.

I've seen that quite a bit on there. Drag Queens and Pantomime Dames.

They say they are just another way for men to mock women by having them dressed as gaudy and ugly looking as possible (panto dames) and drag queens with thick make up and bitchy names and personalities and what they deem to be negative about women is magnified

OK, so disclaimer, I haven’t seen the thread, but weaponised incompetence is real.

Would a man at work (especially a white collar six figure salary job that all MN husbands do ) get away with half arsing everything all the time? Not being bothered to address a letter to the correct person?

That’s probably why the thread blew up. All these posters projecting about their own husbands who resent having to do wifework and so do a deliberately shitty job of it.

Now me personally, I wouldn't assume my Husband is abusing me or showing abusive behaviour because he didn't put a name on the envelope. Neither would I be "furious" and start a post about it on a random parenting site.

The reason the poster didnt do it herself is because she is on maternity and couldn't go out because of the storms last week. She also says that her Husband was in trouble with his Boss last week because he never posted a letter for him because no one in the office had a stamp so he definitely doesn't have an important job if he is posting letters for his boss, unless he is a Secretary or PA etc. (I'm not saying those jobs arent important btw I'm saying I wouldn't expect 6 figure salary workers to be dealing with their Bosses mail)

Replies include, he is training you to expect less of him and put up with it and does he have adhd or similar which is why he can't carry out tasks.

But then it's Mumsnet. They love an abusive man or convincing posters that their husbands are abusive. Ironic really

Used to work in nursery but got herself a criminal conviction. She now just stays at home despite her children being adults. I think she told BIL to stay home as the government would pay. Then shit her pants when they were entitled to nothing.
She told me I was too old to work with children I’m not even mid 40’s.

I'm in my 40's and work with children, one of my work pals is 60 and still works too!

Admittedly I'll be done by the time I'm 55 because my knees are on their way out after 25 years of looking after children plus I do private nannying and bar work too.

You are definitely not too old!!

I just saw that. Apparently it was ‘bleach the skirting boards’ which I’ve never heard anyone mention before. My money was on logging something with 101 or cancelling a cheque (the bantz!).
