Oh is he? I thought he was but he seems to have a lot more free time than any consultants I know!

This may be WILDLY wrong but I always thought that with consultancy there’s a lot of freedom of where/when you work so that could be why he seems to always be around?
My dad’s potentially going back to consultancy after retirement (aka he’s bored already 😂) and that’s how he’s sold it to my mum

Seen in the comments, the visa and jobs are the hold up on the move. So who needs the visas? Caroline to gain re-entry? Or Kyle to leave?

I would assume Kyle will need a work visa...and somewhere to work!
"If you are a US national and would like to work in the UK, you will need to secure a work visa before you travel here. In most cases, to secure a UK work permit, you will need a suitable job offer from a UK employer with a sponsor licence granted by the UK Home Office."
Then they'll need to find somewhere to live....not so easy with rental prices going through the roof!
I don't think she has a clue how much U.K. has changed for the worse and how expensive everything now is, since she last lived here

Yeah no you are right, my husband works for an American company as a business consultant and they are very flexible. They don’t care as long as you get the work completed

I brought this up previously and another comment said that she had said they had his work visa etc arranged. I did think it would be difficult. I've worked in America and have heard the struggles some Americans have had trying to get work Visa's over here. Definitely not as easy as some may think. If he was to come over on a spousa visa instead, she'd need to be working over £18.5k which is easy enough but not when you're currently living in America.

Would he need a work visa? Could he not get a spousal visa?

I don’t know the ins and outs as I stopped listening 🤣 but my UK passport sister moved back home after years of living in the US with my BiL - she had to be earning over a certain amount with a guaranteed job, and they needed to prove that they had the money to support my BiL (which my parents put up, it had to be in my sister’s account for a certain about of time)
---
K would either need to give up his US passport or pay tax in the US on any income he gets here

Oh yeah I forgot about the income requirements.
I'm a US citizen and I don't pay tax, I just have to file a return. The first $100k earned here is excluded.

Why does it even matter how much she paid for her holiday?! Good luck getting a week AI for a family of 4 at a luxury resort for anything close to 10k in Europe over school holidays! It’s minimum 2 k for 3 nights in a small lodge at centre parcs SC at Penrith 🤣
