People flapping for no reason. Other countries have this, we’re just behind the times.

Wasn't as loud as I expected, tbh. Made me jump a little, but less than some other things do.

Someone on Twitter last night said that war with Russia is imminent. Okay hun. 🙄
The anti vaxxers are having kittens!
The level of idiocy since the pandemic is frightening especially because these people are breeding and raising children.
Just wondering lol do all conspiracy theorists have a manual or manifesto they sit around the campfire and read together whilst also singing and braiding each other's hair?

Are you still classified as an anti vaxxer if you have had all other vaccines, but not just the Covid one?

I also think they are crazy NOT to trust Pfizer as a company who have previously paid the largest fines in history of over $10.5 billion and admitted to previous cases of fraud and misleading investigators. Oh well as long as it was only 11 Nigerian children that died in one of their drug trials and not white ones means they can be trusted today.

Can someone express anxiety at the state of the world without being labelled a conspiracy theorist? Or are the two always connected. Would someone for example in Taiwan be one automatically if they also said a war China was imminent?

I’m not trying to deny anyone’s right to their thoughts and feelings, but I think the level of conspiracy theories is ridiculous. Covid being an attempt to control us, for example. It doesn’t make any sense to me and it’s really tedious to see that some people have nothing better to do than sit online and try to instill fear in to others. Others who are usually vulnerable too. These days people think that we all have to hear their opinion about everything and we really don’t! I don’t care who did and didn’t get the Covid vaccine or any others. That’s why people have the choice. Although I did care when my mum got mumps when working as a practise nurse because people haven’t vaccinated their children. She still lives with the effects today.
I just think as I have already said that the outrage comes from privilege for the vast majority! The people of Ukraine probably wish they had this system 12 months ago.

I’ve just told someone who didn’t get it that they were being singled out as the first ones to be abducted by aliens 😂
I kind of wouldn't mind being adbucted by aliens at this point. Might be safer than staying here!

My iPhone went off a minute early as did my son’s Android must be the Network .
I think it’s done in batches. Mine (iPhone) went off at 14:59. Husband’s (who was with me) Android went off a minute or 2 later. Then we went into a shop and someone in there’s went off at 15:06. Heard a few go off at different times as we were walking around Leeds city centre. 🤷‍♀️

ETA: Sorry I speed read your comment and jumped in, but you make sense

Seems they’re looking into why there were so many discrepancies in the alert times and people not getting it at all.

I had completely forgotten about this, so when I returned home I heard this horrible screeching sound. For a few moments, it scared and confused me. Then the noise happened again, and I realsed it was coming from my android phone.
I'm completely disgusted, what would have happened if I was elderly and confused person? They would be in a terrible state.
I'm with the tin hat brigade on this one, it is being used as another tactic to keep the population in a continual state of fear.
I was visiting my elderly parents, neither of them knew about it. My mum asked her neighbours and again they were unaware. My dad is early dementia and my mum is exhausted and ill. The neighbours all elderly and various illnesses. These people aren't stupid, far from it. But not everyone lives on sm or rolling news and that doesn't make them anyless important. My dad started to get upset about the government scaring people. It was all a bit upsetting for a while. These people aren't crazy conspiracy theorists, like some ignorant people love to call anyone nowadays who dares to raise concerns about anything. Such a dumb mentality.
The only saving grace was that everyone involved, including me have very basic, UNSMART phones so nothing would have happened anyway 😆.

I definitely think there's a difference between people who don't trust the government and think they want to make people afraid and the group of people who think the alert is going to activate the COVID chip inside your body (🤪)

I didn't get an alert, neither did my husband, mum or sister 🤷🏻‍♀️ I haven't asked anyone else 😂

The sneering, mocking people really would do well to remember that not everyone is as lucky as them to be able to not care about anything.

Sometimes I rue the day I ever got a smart phone.
I did pop over to the CT thread earlier on, and noticed that no one had even mentioned the emergency alert today.

My Tablet buzzed politely about 2.59.
Absolutely nothing on my smartphone! The one I carry with me when outside and would appreciate government warnings.
Bit of a rooster up on the informing the public department. To paraphrase a Reggie Perrin character.

I still have my 12 year old Nokia 100 baby. Bought it from Tesco for £11. Love that it's still going strong.

It’s interesting that the majority expect it for weather, which I’m sure it will, but in the US it’s also used for active shooter situations. So if we are ever unfortunate to have those situations here. I guess similar to what we have had in the past it will be used for that so it really could save people.

If it failed on many phones do you think they'll want to do another big test again?

I was at a West End matinee and we all had to switch our phones off. Was quite excited at 3pm that some people wouldn't have but disappointingly everyone behaved.

I switched my phone on straight after the show (about an hr later) and got the alert at 7.42 when I was in a taxi home 🤣
