his mum is rotten!! They actually could have had a chance together if it wasn’t for his family. I blame Carole for what’s happened to Lauren.Lauren really was beautiful then, it’s such a shame that her self esteem is so low now. Although the model bit at the end was weird,you can genuinely see that he was completely in love with Lauren.

If not there should have been. Danny from Hearsay was another one. Was having two hits really a fair swap for the tabloids exposing his mother as a hooker? Or having the nation notice he looked a bit like Shrek? Bloke is only 41 now, imagine most of your adult life involving that sort of baggage, horrible
That clip is sad to watch, engagement speech and he still managed to put Lauren down, top models in Miami! Almost as if he is paying her a compliment!
Mark and Lauren were the real deal, it wasnt a showmance, they were together for years before Towie, they were each others first love, that crying WAS genuine, but the appeal of fame and Mark's big ego put an end to it all, he thought he was better than it all, his mother thought he was better than it all and that's what destroyed them and left Lauren a wreck, in her head it had always been Mark and his family, his family were the family she never had then suddenly it all disappeared and she was left with no support system, add to that the complete bashing she got in the media and on social media, is it any wonder she is the way she is now?

Well the poor girl didn't have a mother of her own so I guess she was easier to bully, no doubt Carol would offer her crumbs of comfort and security at times but on the whole she bullied her. Michelle has a secure family behind her so she is less needy.
It’s what I have always thought, I think Lauren must look back at herself from 2010 and think she is weird, maybe she thought if she looked better in Marks eyes that he would like her more, sad.
See it’s always mother’s with sons that are like this, my mother would happily admit my faults in a heartbeat to any boyfriend of mine that complained about me yet, if my brothers partner complained about him to her, then omg that would be a whole other story, you could say my mother is quite misogynistic, I am too at times when I think of it, so many of us are without realising it!
Looking back I think that speech was an F YOU to his family. They were childhood sweethearts and 10/11 years is a long time, and he genuinely loved her. I think his family and their controlling ways kept them apart. I also think Mummy’s boy Mark would run back and tell them what Lauren had said to him, but not all the vile things he said and did to her
Yes this is exactly it, he turned the family against her on bad days then was suprised they didn't tolerate her on the good days.
I think you’re 100% correct. His emotion there was completely real and Carole just cannot stand the fact that he could possibly have that much emotion about Lauren and their relationship.
it’s really sad. They will have had so many memories basically growing up together and it’s been left so bitter. I’m sure they both still think about each other now because you can’t erase 10 years of your life.

You could have a good point there, I remember my friend's new husband doing a very pointed FYOU speech to his family at the reception because they disliked her so much. Mind you , they ended up divorced...….

It's interesting where Arg comes into this. When has Mark even mentioned Arg over the last 5 years? I can count on one hand the number of times. Supposedly best friends, yet he's offered zero support for someone who has clearly had major mental health and addiction issues. Even Carol and Jess have managed to offer some words of encouragement. I think he's embarrassed of him. I listened to the MW episode of runpod (Jenni falconer's podcast). He basically says he is the fittest person of all his friendship group (apart from his brother) and that he looks down on people who can't run without getting out of breath. Also how much value he places on looks.

Yes it's my favourite ever towie moment! Because Chloe Sims was dating Elliot and so got an invite and then told everyone how Carol got drunk and had a pop at the bride on her wedding day. And then Jess tried to defend her mother. Like why not just admit you made a mistake and apologise? Typical Carol, she's clearly a big drinker. I suspect she causes a fair bit of trouble when she's been on the sherry. Yeah Leah is Elliots sister. Carole wanted Jess to sing and I think Args band were the wedding bank. MArk took mummies side and chaos ensued.
