Reporter, writer, podcaster. 50k followers on Twitter and has a sub stack. Writes about the media.
Has anyone been following him lately? I generally like him and his views but he’s been relentless lately and constant drama since he reported on the republican demo group arrests on the coronation weekend.

the allegations Marie Le Conte (another journo) have come up again but this time he’s threatening legal action, fallen out with his podcast co-hosts, threatening Harry Cole from the sun (lol), posting AFK before tweeting again five mins later.

Is anyone managing to keep up with him?

I knew him IRL many years ago. He kept himself to himself a bit but always had stories about how he knew this or that famous person. Think he has a history of being a bit unstable, that was the impression I got though I only knew him on am acquaintance level.

I used to follow him on Twitter but got fed up with his tweets taking over my timeline. He’s got a Discord group now which seems to be where his fans congregate.

Having had another look at his Twitter again, it’s all way too much drahmz. He makes a big song and dance about disrupting the media and targeting people but he’s super thin skinned and throws a strop the minute someone gives it back. I remember now that he wrote a whole newsletter slagging off Hadley Freeman then got angst because Sarah Ditum called him a failure on Twitter and there was a load of late night introspection about whyyyyy did she say I was a failure. Erm… possibly because you slagged off a friend of hers?

oh man, I used to really rate him, but his recent need to insert himself into everything is just real main character syndrome

Mic was one of the first people I followed on ‘left twitter’ who openly called Jack Monroe a grifter, at a time when no one would hear a bad word about her. Unfortunately he also seems like a bit of a crank. He’s got a very “don’t you know who I am?” attitude and is always getting into Twitter spats over nothing and spamming up peoples timelines with it.

I think he’s probably a nice guy and he means well but he’s very self important. He and his fans act like he’s a threat to the establishment, but his output mostly consists of things like “a photo of the front page of a newspaper where I have highlighted everything that isn’t a neutral statement of fact” or “a 3,000 word blog post in which I argue against an opinion column I disagree with”, he basically states the obvious and gets loads of praise for it from people who think they’re uniquely intelligent for figuring out that media outlets have an agenda to push.

i don’t even dislike him really, just find him a bit irritating. I think he needs to log off of twitter for a bit and have some time offline for his own mental health. Twitter isn’t real life. Go for a nice walk or something idk.

Mic is someone whose tweets have not infrequently come on my radar since the pandemic (I think that must have been when he started to get a following?) Anyway he comes across as very arrogant and unpleasant, one of those 'if you don't share my very left wing politics you are a Bad Person' types. I do agree with some of his media criticisms but he ruins it with his pomposity. I think he's just bitter he didn't really get anywhere as a journalist.

Sadly, I'm not entirely surprised by these allegations. A lot of these 'woke blokes' seem to turn out the same way. Almost like they deliberately act that way to hide something(!)

He definitely came across as arrogant IRL. Thought he was something special and above other people.

He went to Cambridge, did you know that?😁 Even on Twitter he would constantly get that in, so god only knows how he would have been about that IRL. Some socialist hero!

His ongoing response to the Sun over the Huw Edwards story is looking a bit unhinged now. I don't like the Sun at all and think Murdoch is a malevolent wart on humanity. but I am fairly certain that it is was GB news presenter who was married and was texting a 17 year old and paying for dirty pictures Mic would be less inclined to be demanding the Sun answer 19 questions or whatever he is up to now

He’s desperate for attention but he’s just not getting any. I might feel sorry for him if he weren’t so pathetic. For all his bluster he’s really no better than the tabloids he rails against.

Two questions I'm wondering about:
- Is his career plan to write obsessively nitpicky blogposts about EVERYONE on a legacy media publication that might commission him in future?
- WHO is actually paying for that Substack?

He's an entitled, talentless manbaby who sponges off his (much more successful) wife and is angry with the whole world that he's seen as a red string crank weaving together webs of delusions rather than an insightful political journalist speaking truth to power.
Oh, and what @Livia Fantasy said
