Madeleine McCann #8

There was also the deliberate confusion the McCanns created, if people believed their initial lies then yes some might agree they had done something similar. The McCanns had everyone believing it was akin to dining in your own garden, the apartment had been left secure, regular checks, Kate’s brazen lie about it being a max 30 second walk away etc.
The true circumstances of how they left those children is unfathomably risky to any sane person.

Thousands of messages saying they’ve done the same thing,
What’s done is done.
The guilt in the first few days was difficult.
At worst they were naive. 🙄
I switched off after 3 minutes as I couldn’t stomach anymore.

Look at their faces, it is all very measured but they know what they've done - they were careless and neglectful and their daughter paid the ultimate price, and they have to hold their hands up to that in front of everyone.

Truely a million apologies would not be enough, what happened cannot be undone.

Hard agree with this post! The only reason "everything did it" was cus everyone thought they were talking about sitting in the garden whilst the kids were in bed.
I was a teenager and even I knew you don't leave kids alone. I don't know a single person my age who was left alone (80s baby, 90s kid).

Is anyone following the Gus Lamont case? The grandparent under suspicion has given an interview and it is straight from the McCann playbook:

“To be accused of doing something like this… you could not wish a more horrible experience on anyone”

Poor little Gus - your grandchild who has tragically had his life cut short maybe?

That case is dodgy as duck

@Dotty Merton my parents used to do the same when we were 8 and 9! With the promise of a coca cola and packet of crisps when they got back providing we were very quiet and stayed in bed. So of course we were like church mice until they got back

I’m not usually on this thread but I came to see if anyone had posted about the Mail’s seemingly daily articles about Sean. I know there will be public interest because of who he is but it seems odd to be reporting on him every day. I am suspicious it’s being pushed by the McCann PR team and wondered if anyone else felt the same or whether I’m just a cynical old boot?

I suppose that for right or wrong reasons, there will be media/public interest and curiosity about this family - but that was my thought too.

That's why I came here! Just seen an article about him in the NY times! It's all very much pushing how brilliant the parents are for encouraging his talent ect. Trying to make their kid famous is creepy af.

I felt that it was an 'inside job' from pretty much the start.

Must be pretty weird for him to be associated with someone who he will never even remember.

Another article

The parents attention seeking and soft launching the daughter in this too. Doesn't sit well with me
It does feel like she is gently gearing up to be an influencer - she has been getting her face out their steadily the last year or two in a way that is feeling calculated.

This is SO unexpected for me. I would have sworn, they will keep absolutely private their whole life. Also it seems a bit disrespectful to Maddie, gaining advantage from the fame around her disappearance, no?

I think next year will be key - 2027, the big 20 year anniversary.

It will go either of two ways in my mind, the McCann's will make a huge deal out of it, media takeover and everything... or there will be relative quiet on the matter except some minor activity on their Find Madeleine site to mark the big date.

After this would be maybe seen as the right timing to launch Amelia as her own person, because most young girls of her age do want to be influencers and if she does they've probably planned for it. She's got the 'famous' brother connection now too if he sticks with sport.

I anticipate Amelia being the one who publicly talks about Madeleine/sticks up for her parents in the future.

Given that they have already had to go through a court case for someone who stalked and harassed them claiming to be Madeleine, which included turning up at their house and contacting Amelie on social media, you'd think they might want to keep their heads down a bit.

makes you wonder why they felt the need to hide behind a curtain while giving their evidence at said court case!
