The kid just walked out of the holiday club?? Imagine if you hadn't been there.

right? and this was a super busy resort with tonnes of families and people around. I was paranoid the child would try and go in the pool by themselves for example. a 5 year old, same as my daughter. I can not imagine leaving the door to my apt open, where anyone could get in, the kids could come out, they could fall in the pool or wander off, they could have an accident. It just does not compute.

EDIT: if you want to know which hotel's kids club to avoid it was the Protur Sacoma Playa hotel and spa in Majorca - 4* - you would expect better!

I do feel for them, it must be weird as hell growing up with a sibling you don't remember who has probably suffered the most horrendous of fates.

I'd wonder how they feel about their parents leaving all three of them alone like that but I'm sure they'd be very defensive of it, the wider McCann family certainly have been.

I can't believe next year will be the 20th anniversary of that day. I wonder if it will be a huge deal with a media take over? They've got friends in the right places if the want that. But it sounds like they have been through a lot with wackos like the I AM MADDIE girl, they might be less keen to be in front of a camera nowadays.

I think the McCanns were uncooperative with the investigation for the same reasons they left the kids in the first place. Arrogance, entitlement and self-interest.

They definitely had a holier than thou attitude. How dare you quizz them on certain things and did not do anything wrong by leaving 2 babies and a 3yo alone. No it wasn't the "done thing". This makes me so angry, that they got away with this decision and also how she refused to answer so many questions.

I think it's obscenely disgusting the tax payer is still footing the bill for this and I'm kind of hoping the 20th anniversary might be thought of as a time to draw a line in the sand but it does seem that people in high places refuse to admit defeat. If they couldn't get CB before he was released from prison, what makes them think they can get him now?

ETA - A google search tells me OG had it's budget "slashed" to around 86K for 2026-2027. Maybe there has indeed been talk of winding things down and people are panicking?

Haven't seen that yet but Martin Frizell and Prof David Wilson have flown out to Praia de luz to deep dive it all.

They're doing like a birds eye view perspective, standing in the exact spot of where they Tapas seven ate to get the same view as the McCanns had that night, walking the walk to the apartment in real time, tracing the quick route from the apartment to the beach where they believe the scene of crime and deposition likely happened, think its going to be in multiple parts on their chanel (the first one is already up)

Frizell broke the story and talks about his decision to do so Prof Wilson asks would he of done that for a random working class family

Yes it was. He lost a lot of credibility for that IMO.

Personally I’m not interested in whether the case would have got less publicity if it had happened to a working class family. I’m also uninterested in going over and over whether they were wrong to leave the children (of course they were). Or whether the McCanns are unlikeable.

The question is what happened to her. My money is on her waking up and wandering off and being picked off by a predator in the same way as Sarah Payne. Anything else is wild fantasy from people who fancy themselves as great thinkers/sleuths. See also the wild theories about Jay Slater. Morons like that Hayley Comet woman pretending to have a brain cell.

I don't think the McCann's were simply "unlikeable", they seemed to be bizarrely unhelpful in the investigation of their own daughter being missing. Refusing to do a reeactment was particularly strange to me, as was jetting off on a world tour when it was still very early days and they would have surely done better to stay closer to the scene, etc.

Oh, and basically silencing a nation for quite a long time. They even got a film pulled from cinemas because it was about a girl going missing on a beach. They sued everyone they could. They really abused the power they had, imho. If it was simply 'unlikeable' discussion about them would have wound down years ago.

It is tricky because in trying to find out what happened to her everything has to be explored surely, I wouldn't personally say if you don't believe in one specific theory (predator happening to find a lost wandering child) that everything else is a fantasy or a wild theory
