We’ve just been abroad and one night there was an adults dance night on. We didn’t go because we didn’t have any childcare so our 10 yo came with us everywhere, which was fine. We got talking to a couple who went to the dance event and openly said they gave their kids calpol and put them to bed so they could go! Their kids were older than MM, think the eldest was 12, but still! Have we not learnt anything from this sad case? I personally wouldn’t risk it.

I often wonder do Kate and Gerry’s other two children (the twins) ever feel anger or resentment or fear towards their mum and dad? For their careless actions and for what then happened Madeline and what could have potentially happened to them too 🤔

The only thing I'm certain about on this case is that the parents were not responsible for her disappearance/murder. There is not a chance they could have successfully done this and got away with it. The media was all over the resort within hours and the McCann's were literally followed everywhere they went.
Like I said earlier, their Guilt lies in the fact they thought it OK to go out for a nice child-free evening leaving three little children alone in their unlocked apartment. Its not as if they couldn't afford the babysitter fees either but thought "Nah we'll just leave them here sleeping..........." then trotted off for a nice evening with their mates without having to chase about after the children.

They are a pair of cold fishes too, especially him, but the one thing that sticks in my mind is them choosing to still take their previously booked and paid for tennis lesson the day after their daughter disappeared! How could any parent even think of that when their child has seemingly been "abducted" from their apartment? The McCanns foiund it pretty easy though

It's the unlocked door that gets me!!!

As a child, I vaguely remember being left in a Butlins Chalet (The Red Coats had a listening service.) This was in the 1960s.

But the door was locked - I couldn't have wandered out and somebody trying to get in would have needed to kick the door in. No such safety for Maddie - free to wander out or for anybody to wander in.

But as I've said before, when this all kicked off, it was obvious from talking to my boss that leaving kids alone in the hotel room was the done thing. She more or less told me they'd left their grandchildren alone in the room while they and the parents went to the bar.

I reckon they didn't do it after Maddie went missing.

Shame a wee girl had to pay for price.
I bet they didn’t leave their cash and passports and valuables lying on the bed of their unlocked apartment in case someone went in and took them…

To add to that theory, the priest himself publicly said ‘I was deceived’. His religion forbids him to speak out but many believe Kate told him what happened during a confession. He refused to give them anymore support after that.

If you haven’t already, read the PJ files and the Gaspar statements. The McCanns sued everyone who even looked at them wrong, yet didn’t even mention the Gaspars. The guy in the states has offered to retest the DNA for free yet they haven’t taken him up on the offer. Why?
If your child had gone missing and 2 of the worlds best cadaver and blood dogs detected scents all over the apartment would you A…go hysterical and be thinking the worst or B…say that the dogs were notoriously unreliable?

This was actually captured 9 days after he was adamant his beautiful little baby daughter had been abducted by peadophiles who could be inflicting all kinds of unspeakable horrors upon her
I believe they will never face justice. They are being protected.

It was the washing her Teddy that most stood out to me. 🤯 my daughter had a special Teddy and if something ever happened to her I would want it to smell like her for forever.
Bleaching the teddy, answering “no comment” to every single question asked by the police, mobile phones being switched off at the same times, calling former prime ministers in the hours after she disappeared…..they are guilty as sin.

I can't believe how they've never faced real consequences for what they've done. Not just to maddy, but all the pensioners who couldn't afford to be giving money to the madeleine funds, or the school kids giving pocket money. The fucking tax payer.
They had the classic beautiful blonde haired, blue eyed little girl, the media have used that in the most disgusting ways, knowing how that will pull on people's heart strings, but nobody has profited more than her parents.
They fucking know what happened to madeline, you can see it ooze from the smarmy fuckers.
I'm not saying it was a ludicrous conspiracy as some will, (wouldn't be shocked though if something transpired) but the dogs, Eddie and keeva (?) I think they were called were the best cadavers in the world, yet were doubted in this case. Yeah OK 🙄🙄
Nothing makes sense about this case unless madeline died or became injured in that apartment.
Sorry for rant, due on and fuming at life 😤

I still cannot believe that an innocent person would refuse to answer that many questions.
I cannot believe that a mother with a missing child would refuse to answer ANY questions.
I’d answer every single question, even if it put me in a bad light, because I’d want them to find my child.

I think it's possible they were drugging the kids so they could go out eating/drinking and they either accidentally gave her an overdose, or she had an accident from being sleepy/walking around.

I don't know the full ins and outs of what you suggest happened there or whether it is indeed fact or not (not doubting you btw). People deal with traumatic situations in all sorts of ways. The things people do in times of stress can appear perplexing to others, we see it all the time in different scenarios.
Your BABY goes missing - trust me, the first thought that comes into a mothers head is not “right, get the bleach out and bleach wash her beloved teddy” you don’t just carry on having a jolly old time playing tennis and going out for a lovely little jog….. Jesus Christ! My boy was in hospital once with a broken arm and I’ve never been so upset/worried in my life and I couldn’t even imagine just cracking on with a frigging tennis lesson.

Would you not, oh I don't know just musing here, NOT go to your tennis lessons and stay with your twins who must have been confused and wondering where their big sister was? As a parent would you not want to watch the twins like a hawk and just hold them? Again, not a parent but that is how I would feel if anything happened to my nieces or nephews.

It still pisses me off that had these two assholes been from a grotty sink estate who had left their kids alone to go out on the razz in some club then they would have been obliterated by the media.

As it is these two paragons of society, doctors no less, can do it and the media leaps to defend them, moreover they back a massive campaign to raise money for these shysters to fund God knows what, pay off their sizeable mortgage etc. Its a lucrative business innit?

However neglectful these parents were (and nobody here is disputing that) until Madeleine (or her body) is found then I'll still keep on the fence. Until the authorities that matter have enough to charge someone with her death, it's still all gossip and speculation.
Its not gossip or speculation that the parents should not be charged with being neglectful parents leaving them alone due to choosing to wine and dine.

That shouldve happened. A lesson to others not to do that.

Its not like they ran out of baby milk or food and went to get it for their kids they made a self indulgent choice to dine and socialise for their benefit.
Thats a fact right? That was established they left them to meet others for the night. They switched off from parenting their babies and toddlers and thats a crime as far as I know it.

Thats WRONG in anyones eyes to do that. As a pstent it is your job to care for your babies or get someone too.

It shouldnt have been overlooked.

Especially since the nightmare consquence which was no fault of a defenseless toddler who could be anywhere dead or alive all because of a selfish parental choice.

Made by BOTH of them!

BOTH in agreement to go out and dine and switch off from patental duties with no plan for a babysitter in place😡

I WILL judge them for that bit. Absolutely.

just because a dog signals correctly in one area, doesn’t mean all signals are correct. As time goes on they are likely to be duds. I’ve worked directly with dogs. Sometimes they signal for no reason at all. In fact, they do so a lot of the time.

They can be a great resource, don’t get me wrong, but they aren’t good evidence, and I’ve never known them to be admissible as evidence in a court of law.

my understanding was that the Portuguese police thought they found blood samples but this was proven to be inconclusive in a lab.

in summary, it’s best to ignore the dogs entirely unless collaborative evidence is found - which there wasn’t.

I’ve never heard anything about Kate and fish, but it’s redundant either way. Expecting the McCanns to answer to these processes and procedures is setting them up for failure anyway and is trial by media. Hence why Gerry got pissy and short tempered. Regardless of whether you have an opinion on the parents being responsible for Maddys death, this still applies. It’s ridiculous to expect someone, suspect or not, to respond or answer to that type of police work.
The parents categorically ARE responsible for her death/disappearance. Wether they killed her or not, wether they were involved in whatever happened to her - the fact remains that THEY LEFT HER AND 2 OTHER INFANTS ALONE IN AN UNLOCKED APARTMENT. And for that they should have been strung up for.

I‘m sure I read the McCanns admitted the twins had asked them if they had done something to Madeleine.

The arrogance of Gerry McCann insisting that what they were doing is like having dinner in your garden still bothers me to this day. That and Lorraine Kelly insisting “ We have all done what they did“ Erm no. I don’t know a single parent who has left their children to go on the piss.

I’ve always thought this interview was extremely odd.

3 weeks after losing their daughter and looking like they have no concerns at all.

In my opinion these are 2 people who are not worried about their daughter. They may be feeling terribly guilty and sad, and Kate’s reaction at 6.37 is completely genuine I think, but they are not worried about where she might be, what she might be going through, how she is suffering.

Guilty as sin the pair of them. The first question - “why did you leave the children alone when the resort offers a FREE babysitting service?” - Gerry takes over and answers like a politician - doesn’t directly answer the question, waffles on, deflects and makes excuses.

This is the resort and the locations of the restaurant and their apartment - this is not even remotely akin to sitting out in your garden at home to eat while your children are upstairs sleeping.

THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO VALID INNOCENT REASON FOR THEM LEAVING THOSE CHILDREN UNATTENDED.

I've used kids clubs, not every day but if there was an activity they were interested in and they wanted to book in, we did. But the McCanns probably should have taken an adult only holiday, it didn't look like they did any family things. We always took ours out in the evening, lots of people did. Honestly when mine were little I would have debated going to the clothes line never mind leaving them alone whilst I went out for dinner. Whatever happened to that child ultimately they're responsible and totally irresponsible. The arrogance of them to blame anyone else is staggering, their child and other children are the victims. It wasn't a different time back then, I have a couple of kids older than Madeline and I'm considerably younger that G and K, it wasn't the done thing and it wasn't typical.
It was in the front of parents minds what happened in Soham and with Sarah Payne, most of us were helicoptering.

If those two and their Me Time had not been so important they would still have three children.

They chose to leave the children ostensibly asleep in the apartment to pursue their Adults Only dinner engagement with their mates - nobody else - if they'd not left their three little ones alone then this would not have happenned. OK it might perhaps have been any of the other children from the group who were left supposedly asleep when abducted (with the McCanns being the unlucky ones that night whom the abductor selected), but it does not alter the FACT that you simply DO NOT go out and leave the kids alone in a strange place in an unlocked apartment!

I'm wondering how different it would have been if it had been Tracy & Gary from some sink estate who went out on the razzle leaving their children alone in their apartment - how different would the reaction have been to them?

I remain resolute that I don't think these two paragons of parenthood killed the child but they sure as hell made it nice and easy for the abductor to walk in and snatch their daughter away leaving too many unanswered questions :( That they most certainly ARE guilty of;
