I was discussing this exact thing today, even though I really only watch a couple of other influencers I was getting the impression they were getting back to normal and wondering why Lydiot doesn't seem to be. I am wondering if all the poor me, strong me, people picking on me, etc isn't about haters but in fact is about 'brands ignoring her'. I have absolutely no real understanding how any of it works, how they make money BUT things are seeming very quiet on the luxury brand front lately. We saw a couple of affordable (and a bit ugly) H and M dresses the other day, I can't remember the last time we saw any real luxury stuff.
She definitely feels sorry for herself, and she thinks she's brilliant and doesn't understand it when other influencers get jobs that are not offered to her. I believe that is a real problem for her, hence her desperation to become a Dior whore a while ago!!!!
Regarding how it works, we know they make money from adsense, affiliate links, paid partnerships, integrated advertorials/ads, paid for instagram photos, insta stories, mentions in vlogs, brand ambassadors etc. And we know she is extremely lazy and thinks the world owes her a living. She is not prepared to work her arse off anymore to get somewhere. Her laziness has cost her big time as well, one example was the amazingly lavish Nars trip she went on, and didn't vlog anything about it for at least six months!
Also, i think brands look at the influencers they are considering using, and see who else they partner with, have worked for, what their instagram feed looks like, what their ethics are, what their core market is, their strengths etc. Their instagram/youtube is a bit like a CV really, showing all their jobs. Lydia puts nothing into her work, for example Aerin are always sending her perfumes and she does a few promotional shots for them, each time it's been the same thing, in her house or garden, with a pack shot, minimum effort made.
I think this is why a lot of brands don't come back to her, or only use her for the smaller jobs, like sending her some free makeup to review on her channel, or to put on and promote, ie By Terry, rather than like Amelia who did a sit down with Terry herself on her channel.
People aren't stupid, if we can see what a lazy self entitled cow she is, i'm sure brands don't find her particularly nice or easy to deal with, or accommodating or flexible. And for all her annoying faults, someone like Josie for example has worked really hard over lockdown, she has had constant free stuff to review, and she does take the time to comment on every single item that is sent to her i think, she's had so many free gifts from brands that she works with too, as has Victoria.
Lydia's vlogs are another thing in question, how long can she sustain these day in the life vlogs at home. Trips to the garden centre, walk round the house discussing work to be done, slapping on makeup, and a few hauls here and there. It is the same stuff re-hashed every week. Lock down has eased dramatically in the UK, we've not seen her go get her nails or hair done, go shopping in London, go to any meetings, it's just the same shit different day.
And of course there is the epic fail that is Globy. Re-selling tat from Ali Express/Alibaba/China with your name on it, makes you look bad, and will for sure put brands such as Dior, Bulgari, Aerin etc off working with you.
