I love Lush products but absolutely hate their style of customer service.

As soon as you walk through the door they pounce on you with fake-ass smiles and overly friendly high pitched voices. So many times I’ve politely said “I’m just looking thank you”. And they’re just breathing down your neck trying to show you everything and trying to rub soap all over you.

It’s nice that they’re on hand to help and show demonstrations but I just like to shop and browse in peace and if I have a question or need help then I’ll approach them. Not the other way around

Sorry if I sound so negative it’s just such a shame the workers put me off going in when I absolutely love their products and ethos.

I have coeliac disease and also a fair few food allergies and shopping in Lush is the one time it all works to my advantage. When the overly peppy employee bounces up to me I start to tell them everything that could bring me out in a horrific rash at best and land me in hospital at worst then say cheerily ‘but I’m happy to browse and read some labels myself thanks!’ Fear ripples among them and they avoid me like the plague, god love them

I don't go into the shops anymore because I hate the way the employees are told to bother people so so much. I'm autistic and I just really hate people coming up to me when I want to be left alone, and especially when I have already essentially told them politely to please go away, sometimes repeatedly. It's just so uncomfortable.

It must be so draining to work there.

and they have quotas to meet daily of demonstrations and cross selling products.
There are many things that I love from Lush, but a ton I would NEVER trust them with.

Deodorant- It wouldn't make a blind bit of difference-just smell pretty
Sunscreen- nope nope nope
Shampoo/Conditioner- not for colored hair at all. in fact the I Love Juicy was what they used to clean their floors back in the day.

Did you work there? I worked there some time ago and can confirm what you said about the quotas. You are indeed expected to approach EVERY customer. You wouldn't believe the amount of people who give you the 'I'm just browsing' brush-off. The store I worked in was very weird, very cliquey. Almost like school!

I think it's Jack Constantine (Mark's son) running the show now, and he's doing a great job... of running Lush into the ground! I'm not convinced Lush will be around in 10 years' time, the way things are going. They're charging luxury prices for what are basically kids' products.

I love Lush but the pricing of some items I becoming off putting IMO. Some bath bombs are hitting the +£10 mark, I know that they can be split and used for multiple baths but it still seems a lot to me!

I used to love Space Girl bath bomb, it also the first thing I ever got from there. They sometimes do a bath bomb in the same scent for a Limited time.

Daddy-O smells amazing, ocean salt is a must have and the dirty shower gel is always available at my house.

My nearest store is a 30 minute drive and then a walk, I wish they did better online sales for this reason.

Same here!! Just bought the treacle moon frosted candy shower gel from Boots, £1.99 for 500ml and smells exactly like snow fairy.

I can't bring myself pay £7 for a mini shower gel!!

I'll still buy the xmas gift sets as some of them aren't badly priced but the individual items are just ridiculous!!

I can see them struggling a bit over the next few years - their prices were always at a point that made them a treat rather than everyday toiletries, but people just aren't going to pay £6 for a single bath now.

I loved Lush 15-20 years ago but they discontinued most of my favourites and are prohibitively expensive now. I do, however, still buy a tub of Mask of Magnaminty and a bar of Figs and Leaves soap occasionally. If you haven’t had Figs and Leaves before, I would recommend buying some. It has such a beautiful scent and it easily overlooked because it’s not pretty looking.

I absolutely still love Lush products - I was a big fan from years ago and then when my kids were small I worked in one of the stores for 4 years!
The Lush forum was crazy wasn't it? I had the same name on there back then.
For any of the old forumites do you remember Fragolina and "Daddy", The truck of love, The time we didn't meet expectations as customers etc?

A girl I worked with in the Poole shop went on to marry his son Simon Daddy disliked her passionately because she worked in the body shop for a while.

Its really galling. and you know they have reduced the amount of scent they put in things. they dont fill the whole house with scant like they used to either.
I just got my box in the mail. Dont let me do any more damage.

H’Suan Wen Hua hair treatment. I feel like God himself made this stuff. It smells absolutely vile to me but it does wonders to my hair! Absolutely amazing stuff!

And Charity Pot body lotion is also pretty good!

I love Charity Pot, it's my favourite moisturiser.
I also loved 9-5 facial cleansing milk but they discontinued it a good while ago now. They told me, in my local shop, that it's because they can't get one particular ingredient and that loads of people ask if it's ever coming back.
I even emailed Lush to ask about it, it was the best facial cleanser, I miss it!
I agree about the shop assistants approaching customers the minute they step inside, it's annoying and I never know why the management insist on it.

I used to love snow fairy body spray and I’d buy it every Christmas. It would be really strong smelling and I would get so many compliments on it, people could smell it as soon as I walked in the room!

I recently bought a bottle and it’s extremely poor quality, I can barely smell it and it certainly doesn’t last anywhere near as long! Gutted as it was £25

I tried to book a spa treatment both online and over the phone, but when I did it online, I got zero response, and when I tried over the phone, I was met with the rudest person ever.
With online zero response, no email or confirmation, luckily, no money was taken.
So I tried to phone, and I explained to the lady I tried online and got no response, and she huffed and puffed and said quite rudely that there is only one Lush spa in London, and everyone is trying to book. I asked when was the best time to book, and she sighed down the phone and said never a good time as everyone is trying to book. I was going to ask why Lush only got one spa in London and what happened to the ones in Kingston and on King Road, but the last had enough and said she's got to go or something.
So that was that, and I made a mental note not ever to book a Lush spa -which is a shame as they look so good. I didn't complain (or at least I don't think I did - I might have tweeted about it).

Totally agree with this! It is a bit much and I've found it takes a few 'I'm fine thanks' to actually get them yo leave you be. If I want help, I will ask thanks.
