These influencers are driving me mad with this obsession with babies sleeping through the night. It has been scientifically proven that babies need comfort from a caregiver. It helps build up strong and positive relationships. A baby’s only form of communication is to cry, so they’ll cry if they’re hungry, sore, sad, scared etc. A baby needs to feel secure and by letting out a cry and a caregiver responding builds up that love, trust and bond. They should never be promoting a “cry it out” technique!

A baby should not sleep through the night at least until fully weaned
Tbf my baby can go from 11.00pm-9.00am without waking (at the moment) and I feel very lucky as it enables me to function!!! But I haven't trained her like a dog, she just does....!!

Its not as simple or as callous as not wanting to look after them. I admit to doing CC with my son (he was about 8/9m old). I had horrific PND, I was pregnant unexpectedly (the pill didnt work!) and he was still waking every 2 hours. The lack of sleep was causing even more harm to my mental health. I couldnt leave either to just cry alone, but CC did help.
I meant just in general. As a lot of insta mums moan about everything children and baby’s do. But it comes with the nature of having a child. If they can’t handle it dont have them. We all have days where we struggle but moaning about them when they are 6 weeks old etc I just think it isn’t maternal. Surely sleepless nights and long days are kind of a given when it comes to having a baby. Lucy and Lydia just moan about little things. Well it kind of comes with the job of being a parent 🥴

Definitely a given!! But it is still a shock to the system, isnt it? Its a different kind of sleep deprived, and especially for these influencers who are used to being in their own bubbles. Moaning about it doesng mean youre not maternal; i think its great that mums can tell the truth that its not all roses and we dont have to be grateful all the time, you know? Because sometimes it is tit lol, sometimes you are exhausted.

I definitely agree these accounts shouldnt be advertising sleep training though!!

I agree, if others don’t share the bad moments, or what feels bad to them, then this could have the opposite effect to those who are sitting at home struggling or don’t have a support network, then they think they are doing something wrong. Being a parent is hard work but it is a shock to the system with new borne for many, I felt awful when my first one was born and felt so alone, especially the first of our friends groups having kids. If it wasn’t for people reaching out to me I would of been a lot worse. I always thought I was maternal before kids, I am still but we all have our struggles. Sleep deprivation is an absolute Biatch!!!

I had my 3rd baby in Feb and still found the lack of sleep a shock to the system haha. I don't agree with the sleep training but it's nice to see that other mums are struggling with similar things. IMO it's nice to see others having a bit of a moan about it, it's bloody hard work especially during lockdown.

Congrats on your baby ❤ Parenting is hard work at the best of times, but 24/7 with my kids, homeschooling and wfh has been a nightmare 🤪. For those of you that have just had babies before and through all this must be hard, I guess for Lucy as well she never had the support network on hand either at the beginning. Yes the phone but sometimes you just want your mum or a friend who’s gone through it to come round and reassure you. Whilst I’m not a fan of CC, I guess you want to try anything for some decent sleep.

Today's post and story. That HAS to be a Pandora ad, undeclared. As organic content it's very strange.

When I saw the story of her buying her sister a present I though oh that’s nice, then I saw paid partnership at the top, i should have known 🙄

Could the paid partnership bit be any smaller?! I thought ads had to be transparent 🤦‍♀️

That's what bugs me about the likes of Lucy, the people most able to afford something get it for free!!

I must say Roman must be a good baby, second date night in as many weeks! My baby is a few weeks younger than him and I don't know if I could leave her just yet, id worry for the poor baby sitter - my mum!!

This is probably what she thought having a baby would be like - being able to leave him with babysitters whilst she goes out and does what she likes! Only it’s taken this long for her to be able to do it.

It’s why she pumps so much. There’s no way now things are open that she’ll continue to stay with her baby so she can feed him.

I personally think it’s acceptable to leave baby one night a week for date night. Maybe I’m just heartless I don’t know 😂
