Starting a thread for the trial of Lucy Letby. Trial due to start on the 4th October. Very Little news coverage so far probably to not prejudice the trial. RIP to those babies.

I remember this case from a while ago but then it totally vanished. It's the one where she looks like the girl next door right? I think that's why it got attention at the time

Really intrigued to find out more about this case and the evidence they have because there's very little known (rightly so for a fair trial!).

Also intrigued to find out what evidence they have against her. They must have substantial evidence to take it to trial and for it to be estimated to last 6 months. It’s going to be emotive I imagine and must be horrific for the parents who have lost babies.

I’m really feeling there is something amiss in this case and that this is a huge cover up. I sort of hope it is because the thought of a human being deliberately letting / causing babies to die is just unfathomable.

I do disagree with her losing her freedom in the run up to trial - I imagine they’ve not had a choice but to do this incase she tried to harm herself and didn’t make it to trial but she’s still innocent until proven otherwise and shouldn’t have spent years of her life locked away for potentially crimes she didn’t commit.

Yeah could be that too. Although I imagine there is ways of keeping people at risk of being victims of hate crime safe? Didn’t they release Shannon Matthews mum and give her a new identity? I guess she wasn’t accused of murder though

Yeah could be that - though didn’t she get arrested a couple of times then released on bail for the same crimes and just wasn’t allowed to have direct contact with patients whilst investigations were pending. Surely with the severity she shouldn’t have been allowed back to the hospital even on admin duties. Its the most bizzare case can’t wait to hear the evidence

Some say the top bosses of the hospital are using her as a scapegoat. I will be very interested to see what evidence they have against her.

My gut. She's a scapegoat for a failing hospital which to this day has very high rates of maternity deaths. I could be wrong and if so I'll admit it. But as it stands I feel she could very well be innocent.

We’ll the alternative is horrific tbh. I just hope the real truth comes out whatever that may be and justice is served. God help the families.

The trial is expected to last up to 6 months!! We are going to get through a lot of threads. I'm another who finds this case very intriguing, interested to see what evidence they have, presumably a lot if it's taking 6 months.

This hospital put a feeding tube into my sister (born at 27 weeks) lungs so every time she was fed it flooded her lungs and causes brain damage.

My cousins meningitis wasn't spotted by hospital until it had destroyed a part of his brain and he has no ability to learn now. Was a record payout by the NHS back then. No quality of life. Took them 9 yrs to admit their failures as well.
