My cousins meningitis wasn't spotted by hospital until it had destroyed a part of his brain and he has no ability to learn now. Was a record payout by the NHS back then. No quality of life. Took them 9 yrs to admit their failures as well.
Took them years to admit their failures for us as well. My sister now has brain damage she will never live independently or be able to work. It’s a shocking hospital and I don’t know anyone that goes there to have their babies we all go to Arrowe park.

Intrigued to see the evidence on this case. I will be watching with interest. Very sad for all of the families who lost their babies :(

There are no words foe this case at all. Nobody would want to accept that a nurse could do this, or anyone in charge of the care of babies.

BUT... the amount of failings at that hospital. They had people overworking didn't they? And people not clocking their shift right? I really do think she's a scapegoat also. Not a chance would the hospital have let her back on admin duties if she was actually guilty surely?

It's difficult though, because she's never been innocent until proven guilty. She's been guilty from the moment this case was published.

How did her name and identity even get to be made public?

If she's guilty, then she's a disgrace but I really cannot help but think there's something amiss with all this.

Do the CPS need concrete and substantial evidence that she's done this? Or can it jusy be 'she was working at the time?'

The links below say it all. I had a cord prolapse with my eldest. Nobody's fault and he's absolutely fine, no issues whatsoever. But there was a massive investigation, 11 staff members before they could conclude that it was just one of those things that can happen. So how have they, after all these failings, found just one person?

This one is heartbreaking.
I'm going to be very invested in this and hope those babies and their families are given justice.
I suspect she did it and this isn't a hosptial cover up if I'm honest, but I really hope I'm wrong cos nobody wants to imagine anyone is capable of this.

The thing is, nobody can say 'she DID do it' and nobody can say 'she DID NOT do it' because we have absolutely no clue what the evidence is, and rightly so. It's all suspicion at the moment based on the little info we've see.

People are so quick to jump on the 'guilty' train based of nothing. BUT at the same time, they've not charged her from nowhere. They've got something on her that's allowed them to charge her.

It's the attempted murder charges that sway me, there's just so many. But again, could be a massive cover up for ineptitude.
We really don't know duck all until its reported.
But what an atrocious case.
Those poor parents.
Beverly Allit (sorry if I've got her name wrong) was known to have munchausen, I wonder if LL will be found to have similar personality disorders?

I was quite young when the Beverley Allitt case was in the news. Did we know much prior to the case or was it when it became headline National news?

I agree, I think we need to wait for the trial to start before the whole 'she did it' or 'she didn't do it' because we (the public) have zero evidence to go by and she (like everyone else in this country) deserves a fair and just trial. It's going to be a difficult and emotive case especially with the number of charges and deaths that have been mentioned and I hope we get the truth out for the families.

Yeah I don't think I'll be speculating what condition she may or may not have. This case is horrific and so secret (I'm glad for the parents and victims) that we don't know what the hell has gone on.

Exactly this. I'm dreading to see what's said during the trial. If she's innocent, imagine all the horrible things she'll see online that people have said because they don't understand 'innocent until proven guilty '

Wonder why the passed away children aren't being named? I did see someone on the group say she was seen to be abit weird (easy target some would say). I just have seen first hand how these organisations can and do single people out to be scapegoats and it tends to be the 'weird', 'quirky' ones. Like that landlord with Joanna Yaetes.

If it was a cover up wouldn’t the charges be like gross negligence or something? Attempted murder read like deliberate harm was caused. Who knows, will be interesting to hear the evidence.
Does anyone know of any news sites who will be covering it live?

We’ll the alternative is horrific tbh. I just hope the real truth comes out whatever that may be and justice is served. God help the families.
Some saying NHS conspiracy, possibly but I've seen so little info on the case that I haven't formed any opinion on her yet, gonna reserve my judgement until I see more.

Must be utterly horrendous for the families going through this years after the babies have died. No closure, unanswered questions.

The last hearing was in Manchester so my guess for live coverage would be Manchester Evening News? Purely a guess from the location though.

I'm too young to remember the Allitt case in detail but I have watched documentaries on Youtube since and it was horrific. The hospital didn't act quickly enough either in closing the childrens ward down when the death rate went up.
I will be very interested to see were there any 'warning signs' from Lucy Letby's education or previous work experience. There were a few with Allitt (putting faeces in the fridge in student nursing digs was one) although I don't think the hospital that hired her was fully aware.

I think the allitt case was the year I was born byt when this Letby case came to light, my mum said that people immediately believed allitt was guilty. I think Letby was just quiet at Uni etc and well liked which is why people don't know what to believe.

Letby looks much more smiley and more 'cute girl next door' than Allitt did. Dunno if that has influenced people's attitudes. I don't know how much info about Allitt was reported pre trial though which could also have led people to form a view (with Letby, practically nothing has been reported about her life)

I was surprised to see the charges are from 2015 - 2016 and she wasn’t arrested until 2018 or charged until 2020.
I’m assuming there are no accusations relating to 2017 - 2018 when she would have still been working there?

Probably to protect the family, it’s traumatising enough to have your baby possibly murdered by the ones who are supposed to care for them and keep them healthy, never mind have your face in the press, the details of it and a camera in your face.

I know what you mean about the "girl next door" type but I think people sometimes people get judged who are quiet like Lucy and saying things like"I always knew there was something off about her" when sometimes people are just introverts doesn't mean they're weird and have something to hide

(Obviously in this case she may be that odd person with horrific stuff to hide but as others have said we can't really decide until we hear the facts and evidence)

I don't think that would be the reason. Murdered children are named in courts/press all the time.
