I don't understand why Letby didn't want Michael Hall to give evidence at her trial yet was happy for Lorenzo the plumber to give evidence. Michael Hall appeared on the panorama programme and confirmed it was Letby herself who didn't want him to give evidence.

I just watched ITV. There was a small clip of both. Karen Rees was shown saying she had nothing to go on to remove Letby but on reflection should have gone to safeguarding. Anne Murphy said similar.

The correspondent though, said Rees claimed the consultants told her they had evidence in a drawer but they wouldn’t show her?! That’s a bizarre statement so hoping transcript goes up tonight and see what exactly she said.

More from Murphy in this. Nothing from Rees still
Anne Murphy said she was told that Letby was a good nurse. Probably EP told her this as Anne Murphy was EP's line manager. It doesn't sound like she knew Letby that well and was taking EP's word and backed Letby when the consultants wanted the police involved.

As someone else said previously, it’s probably because although Hall may have disagreed with and countered some of the prosecution’s evidence, other aspects of what he said would support the prosecution case on some charges. Letby ( advised by BM) didn’t want to risk bolstering any of the cases, thereby improving their chance of conviction on some charges.

Ha ha - I realize today I’m now classed as a well known member 😂Following this case has really catapulted me to dizzying heights. I remember being one of a big deluge of lurking wannabe Tattlers who could not join this thread as Tattle was fully subscribed- we all burst through the doors of this forum one day when Tattle opened up more places 🤪and joined in…

Rees admitted she became too close to Letby when she was tasked with supporting her following the nurse’s removal from the unit in July 2016.

Text messages shown to the inquiry show the head of nursing telling Letby “hang on in there girl … your nursing team are fully behind you. We will get through this.” and another saying: “Let’s hope we get closure this year!”

In December 2017, seven months after the police had been contacted, Rees texted Letby to say: “We’ll continue to fight for you,” the inquiry heard.

The inquiry is expected to sit until early 2025, with findings published by late autumn of that year.

I find it so baffling they use the whole “we didn’t have evidence” which ok, maybe after 1 or even 2 babies I could probably buy that they thought it was a blame game etc. but by the 3rd or at the least when they moved her from nights to days, even if it turned out to be a “blame game” by the consultants WHY for the sake of the babies would you not do something?! Even if it turned out it was all rit/rumours/a gang of 4, at least they could rest easy knowing they didn’t play with those babies lives because at no point did they actually ever stop to consider that these consultants could be right. They should hang their heads in shame, the whole “not enough evidence” isn’t an excuse at all. The seriousness of the allegations should have been enough to make them pay attention.
it’s not like they were blaming her being a bad nurse, their concerns was she was doing it on purpose…like I’m sorry, sod your reputation/hospitals reputation, call the police and let them investigate. I’m just baffled how they can use that as an excuse 😡

Exactly!! Not one of them higher up in all of this thought of those babies/parents. How can you be so removed from the day to day that you no longer think about your patients?!

I hope they all have the lives they deserve - and that the guilt eats them up inside

That's just her attempting to shift the blame from herself and her nursing colleagues and onto the consultants. "we didn't have any evidence so we couldn't call the police. the consultants did and could have stopped her sooner but didn't. it's all their fault"

Really inappropriate of her to presume her innocent. It needed a full on police investigation with letby suspended and supported to a point but no one offering an opinion of innocence.

When asked on Panorama Dr Hall said there were "elements" of the prosecution case he disagreed with - suggesting there were others he was in agreement with.

The reason the high up nurses had no proof of wrong doing is because a full medical investigation hadn't been done. The evidence was in blood test results, x rays, items found at Letby's house etc.

Please can someone remind me what “Facere Melius” is? It seems to be interviews after police involved but it’s not the police?

Oh just googled it, it’s independent nhs investigations? Just wondering why this was going on same time as police? 🤔 I’m not sure if I saw this explained at all but I’ve not read everything.
