…. Stupid question but what happens at the end of the enquiry, is this to put in new procedures, other people being prosecuted? Extra compensation to the parents? Never followed an enquiry before xx

I know that it’s planned for Lady Thirlwall to deliver her report next Autumn. I think she will put in recommendations but after a guest on the Mail podcast explained, they are just recommendations and the government are not obliged to put anything in place! And it seems very few recommendations are actually taken up

i think legal teams for the family / police will decide on next steps themselves, either after all evidence is heard or maybe they will wait for the final report first. But that’s outside of the inquiry remit.

Wait… Alison Kelly only told the CQC about the deaths the same day, but after, the CQC report was published? Call me sceptical but that stinks.

One thing that’s struck me when reading the evidence over the last couple of weeks is how much additional work those consultants did to bring Letby to justice. They must have been looking through notes at all hours, long past the point they were actually being paid to work whilst execs who were earning huge sums of money just didn’t bother. Without their hard-work, determination and willingness to stick at it I don’t think she would ever have been caught. Yet they’re the ones who feel the guilt.

this is exactly what I’ve been thinking this week. They’ve come in for years of flack & it’s no doubt negatively affected their careers but the inquiry has made clear that without the consultants Lucy Letby would never have been caught at that time & could have potentially killed more children.
As you’ve said this is while doing their (very demanding) day jobs.
The fact they were dogged in their pursuit is the only reason Letby was caught. I. Ant imagine how much of their time it must have taken up.

I dread to think how many more babies she would have harmed if the hadn't demanded she be removed from the unit in July 2016

What she said to RJ about how she was coming back to the unit whether he liked it or not. That is definitely gloating. I personally feel that the culture in which she worked didn't create her sense of entitlement, but it certainly allowed it to flourish.

What's struck me recently is the information contained in the letter from her half-witted parents. Looking at what they say, it's really clear to me that Lucy Letby didn't actually seem particularly troubled to be being accused of multiple counts of baby murder. Even her own parents are asking her basically 'how is it that you're coping so well'? They 'feared for her health (so her health didn't actually suffer, they were just worried it would) and 'she was suffering inside' so not outwardly that much suffering going on?

"I have often said to Lucy, 'how do you keep going', and she says quite simply 'because I haven’t done anything wrong'."

Letby's parents said they feared for her health and could see she was "suffering inside".

Then as we know she went to court and was an utter cold fish there too. They say it's 'admirable' how well she coped but I think to most normal, non-murderous people, it's enormously shocking that she didn't seem that bothered by it all.

I would have loved to have been there when Letby realised to the police had been called in.
