I'm a bit confused about the number of deaths. Can anyone explain?
On the Panarama documentary it was confirmed that there were 13 deaths on the ward between June 2015 to July 2016 and Letby was present for all of them.

In Liz Hull's podcast and article she states that there were 9 deaths between January 2015 to July 2016 that Letby wasn't charged with because they were not suspicious. Letby was present for 2 of these unsuspicious deaths.

So there were 16 deaths in total between January 2015 to July 2016. If 3 of the deaths occured before June 2015 then the 13 deaths would match up but if what Liz Hull is saying is correct Letby would have been present for a max of 9 deaths not 13 (im guessing baby K is not included because she was transferred to Arrowe Park). This doesnt match up either what was said in court by Eiran Powell in court or the BBC documentary.

It also says in this article there were eight deaths in 2015 and five in 2016, so that's 13 mot 16.

Isn't some of it due to the fact that some babies did not die at COCH, eg Baby K died after transfer so would not be a death at COCH?

the article says "The Mail understands that Letby was on duty at times when at least two of these babies were being treated on the neo-natal unit, although it is not known if she was ever their designated nurse."

seems they don't really know

The problem with the statisticians is that normally noone takes much notice of them so when they see an opportunity they can't keep their mouths shut.

They completely jumped the gun with Thirlwall telling the world they were going to be giving us all a lecture on the use of statistics in medical trials - only to have to back down. "Nope - sorry that ain't happening"
They keep going on about maths. Like, wtf has maths got to do with the Letby case. Gill is an absolute creature. I don't think he actually grasps human behaviour. Im sure he's very clever in his field but I wouldn't be surprised if he cannot understand social cues etc. possibly one of the reasons why everything that Letby does is absolutely innocent In his eyes. I am male but I absolutely believe women pick up on social cues 10x better than men. It's why I love you tattlers.
I personally found her texts to be very damning.

It's a shame that there are so many harmless twerps out there that can't take in any sort of information impartially.

I didn't used to think this was really a skill. More just common sense but social media his diluted everything. Watch a 45 second tik tok that says Letby is innocent, then Google it to find literature that alligns with this.

I honestly think in this day and age, most people just believe the first thing that they read about something. It's very hard to shift their view after this. 90% of people that know nothing about the Letby case and come to it anew, will believe that Letby is innocent.

It's like living in the movie "idiocracy"

Thank you, I missed that. So it is mostly likely the same as the 13 present as confirmed in court and bbc doc.

The Mail podcast says that the additional 9 deaths were starting from JAN 15, but when panorama states there were an additional 6 deaths, I think they meant for the time period covered during the trial, which started from JUNE 15. So we’re talking about two different time periods.

As for how many she was present for, that’s still unclear, so I do think @sebanna ‘s theory makes sense, as I can’t see panorama getting that wrong. I do wish it was made more clear though as it doesn’t help with the conspiracies…even though I fail to understand why we’re even still debating anything being that she has been found guilty twice now.

during the 12 months the trial period covered if there had been deaths when Letby wasn't there the defence would have brought them up to attempt to establish doubt

Her point about Multiples should count as one death was nonsensical from a medical point of view, as she assumed all babies in a multiple birth would be exactly the same in terms of their health and outlook, which simply isn't the case AFAIK. What an idiot.
I shouted out loud at her when she said that! Moron!!

This is getting bloody ridiculous. There are multiple situations where it was impossible for it to have been anyone else. She admits several of the babies were deliberately harmed. I can only think these doubters are in it for the game rather than actually caring about the babies.

Call me cray cray but I have a feeling her family and friends friend are stirring up tit online to try to make this into a 'thing'. Don't you think? Some of the posters about this I've seen in various places are incredibly similar. I can't imagine many normal, uninvolved people wanting to spend their days online fighting because they so strongly believe a multiple baby murderer is innocent.

I really wouldn’t be surprised if Gill, Sarita and their gang of losers are funding it somehow…maybe that’s how she’s spending the money she’s made selling her ‘science on trial’ merch 🤢

They all seem to have an axe to grind and are very anti establishment. Similar to the covid deniers and anti vaxxers.

There are a couple of posters on Mumsnet who are very strongly pushing the Lucy is innocent theory. I am convinced they name change and have different accounts to make them look like more people. I think science on trial is behind them.

Or they are getting backhanders from Letby's relatives.

I completely agree with you about Gill, I was thinking the same-I'm not sure if he's possibly autistic, but he and so many others (especially men) just can't see her odd behaviour at all. I think she gives off this damsel in distress vibe that a lot of men subconsciously react positively too (and some women) whereas the rest of us just see straight through it. You only have to look at how she got Dr A wrapped round her finger and him leaving her chocolate and offering her his car. They don't see the overall picture of her subtle (and not so subtle) inappropriate behaviour so just dismiss it. I mean living opposite a baby cemetery might be a coincidence, or having owls like in the nursery painted on her walls might be, but the rest of the stuff isn't!

And the handover sheets FFS, the way people will excuse her having 250 of them because most nurses accidentally take a few home  why do they think she had them stored under her bed FFS. The lengths people will go to to argue against everything you put to them no matter how crazy and illogical, I can't get my head round it. I just feel really bad for the families seeing people question if it's an "unsafe conviction", that must be really upsetting for them-I bet some of them wish they could speak out. And the doctors, they're really taking the brunt of criticism right now, scapegoating the poor caring nurse for their supposed failures :mad::mad::mad:

And she’s seemingly missed that many of the multiples had a survivor. Probably because she knows duck all about the actual babies. The real human beings with hundreds of pages of medical records. They are not just a number in your statistical fantasy Jane.
Josh Halliday, the honest Guardian journalist, said that there were over 8,000 pages of medical notes for 1 baby alone.

The Mumsnet thread is actually giving me the heebie jeebies (the one with Rob Rinder in the title). It realllly feels like its her supporters - a few names are all over it at all hours of the day and night for days. I don't think an uninvested party would do that.
