I can wholeheartedly endorse Bodies. There were only two series. It was black humour but the second series was very, very dark.

I loved it as well, I couldn’t believe it ended so soon, it was eye opening, definitely a bit gory for me though.

"The review, which is being made public for the first time, states: “LL works full time and has the qualification in speciality. She is therefore more likely to be looking after the sickest infant on the unit. LL also avails herself to work overtime when the acuity or unit is over capacity.

“There are no performance management issues, and there are no members of staff that have complained to me or others regarding her performance. I have found LL to be diligent and have excellent standards within the clinical area.”

It goes on to state that there had been a higher death rate on the unit in the year to May 2016 but blamed other NHS services for a number of the mortalities: “The Cheshire and Mersey transport service have been involved in a few of these mortalities and they may have survived if the service was running adequately. Alder Hey children’s hospital’s failure in facilitating a cot also added to the complexities of these mortalities. If there had been a bed sooner the infant may not have died.”

I have to say, a few years ago (during covid) I was feeling really burnt out and fed up, not so much with the patients but with their relatives. It was when visiting had just been started again but limited in my hospital and I was sick of getting shouted at down the phone and I was so busy and felt like talking with relatives all the time was impacting my patient care. Then my dad was in hospital with sepsis (first time I’ve had a parent in hospital, he made a full recovery) and the staff were tit at communicating with us (and he’s deaf so had no idea what they were saying to him). It was terrifying and it made me realise how important it was to inform and reassure loved ones…it’s so so important. They are often suffering just as much (sometimes more) than the patients.
My point is now I think of every patient as being as precious to someone as my dad is to me, it’s helped me be a much better nurse! It’s not just about the medical problem that you’re treating but also the person as a whole, including their family.

I am sorry you had to go through that trauma when dealing with a loved one being ill

It’s a lesson that many people in the NHS need to be more mindful of - the sad thing is that most don’t really realise nor care that patient could easily be their child, sibling, parent, grandparent or close friend.

In fact many of wouldn’t even care if it was.

I guess for me from I first stepped into a NHS role in 1995 on placement I was already aware because of how I was brought up by my parents and the influence of grandparents aunts uncles and the wider community.
It was an awareness and value largely based on care and compassion, looking out for anyone in need or for the underdog in any situation.
And something that never lessened despite the curve balls life threw my way.

Ironically thought it’s an instilled value that at times caused great distress personally and professionally.

Random but I once chucked my daughter in boot of our car to show her how easy it would be to abduct her. She was notorious for going out and coming home late when she was a younger teen and didn't see the danger and thought I was over reacting when I said she could have been abducted so yeh I picked her up and launched her in boot of car, took about 10 seconds.

She told me I had a screw loose and still stayed put past her curfew so it didn't really achieve much.

I’m still not caught up so not sure what’s been said recently but are the jury still not allowed to discuss/tell people they were on the jury now the verdicts have been reached? I bet it’s awful if they still aren’t allowed to speak about it. A problem halfed and all that. I feel terrible for being so frustrated and impatient with them!

They can discuss the case post-conviction, but can't reveal what went on during the jury's deliberations (there's an absolute rule that what happens/is discussed in the deliberation room stays in the deliberation room)

My cousin got sent to prison.
He should have been sent to a MH facility buy he wasnt and he was murdered inside.

His murder wasn't the first in this prison and it became a Police Operation.

They can. Lots do interviews after although most stay anonymous. There was a very long-running fraud case where some jury member spoke about the process afterwards to the BBC - I can’t do jury duty so found it very interesting.

For cases that are very very much in the public interest and at courts that can afford it , there should be a room with a camera and microphone that is out of reach of the defendant who has to be placed in there. They cannot avoid the judges verdict.

I've missed many pages as I couldn't keep up. Also it all got a bit overwhelming. Like we've been in a horrified bubble for months while the rest of the world carried on, and then all of a sudden it explodes and the whole world is soaked in the horror and (naturally) all want to exclaim about it. And the panorama, the articles, the videos etc. Suddenly all of Mumsnet 'knew it' despite the thread on their being painfully riddled with 'circumstantial evidence' and 'cover up' balls.

After this long, long trial and all this waiting for deliberations, it feels very... right, to hear people talking about her deeds as established facts doesn't it? Lucy Letby DID this. She's evil. She's a murderer. I'm so glad that the jury saw what we saw. I still think some of their verdicts are a bit whacky - no idea how they arrived at NG for any of the charges, tbh, nor how they could have a majority 'murder' but a unanimous 'attempted murder' but there you go. Ultimately, the outcome is Letby getting what she deserves. I'm appalled that she doesn't have to hear the victim impact statements. How does someone in custody get to choose what they will and will not do?! bleeping joke.

I genuinely got the news as a breaking news alert while in a train toilet, and sobbed my eyes out in shock and relief. I'm so devastated that the parents really lost their tiny babies needlessly to a monster and hope her sentence reflects the unthinkable horror of her crimes.
