I said in earlier thread, I've heard through what's essentially rumors, I've no proof or reliable source, but I've heard it said people knew what she was doing quite soon into her doing it, but they couldn't accuse her without proof and the staffs hands were tied.

Now we can pick that apart to pieces, but the reality is, it's hear say and unless somebody at trial says similar it's bollocks. But imagine if you did know, we all think, "I'd so XYZ" but what do you do really? Fuck up your career by not going through the correct channels, end up in jail yourself for hurting her?
Absolutely. I'd throw my career in the trash can if it meant protecting babies lives. If anyone knew or strongly suspected she was harming those babies and did nothing they are despicable people as far as I'm concerned. I'd physically barricade the room if I had to. I'd hope most would.

I don't think she is pleading not guilty to revel in the fact that the families will have to relive all of this.
I honestly believe that she is pleading NG because she has nothing to lose. Personally, I believe she is guilty from what I have seen so far but I am willing to hear all of the evidence that will come about sooner or later. IMO, she got 'carried away' and became complacent and she is pleading this way to see if she can fool the jury/media the same way she did within her workplace (up to a point). She is trying her luck. Like someone else has said, if she feels further down the line that the walls are closing in on her, she can still change her plea.

We have a second wiki page now, Yel kindly set one up quickly. Apparently page 1 had 27000 words! (Mostly Mark Dowling’s 😂). I’ve put sections child I to Child Q on page two with links between the two so hopefully it’s still easy to navigate.
You'll need a best published wiki author award at the end of all of this!
Thank you for your dedication!

At the end of the day it’s a very upsetting case but I don’t think we need to be getting angry or upset with each other about it. So what if someone thinks she’s innocent/guilty? None of us are on the jury so it’s not like any of our opinions matter or are going to have any impact on the outcome of this trial anyway lmao.

I think the difficulty at this point is lack of context. We've seen snippets of information, but not enough to get a clear picture. It's like putting a jigsaw together when half the pieces are missing. I'm interested to know whether the evidence that's still to come will clarify things or muddy the waters even more.

I agree. Also how can you inject air into a babies stomach, surely if that happened the baby would scream due to the sudden pain from it.

to me it’s odd the prosecution are claiming so many different causes of death. You wouldn’t keep switching methods if you were a murderer and found one that worked without trace.
Hard to scream when you have a breathing tube stuck down your throat.
I would think babies with breathing tubes would be sedated too.

View attachment 1657022This is a peculiar thing to say. She didn’t chase this up? Not even after Baby B also collapsed? It sounds like she was trying to blame the nurse who cared for the baby during the day so surely she would have went to senior staff regarding her concerns.
Her responses are really odd imo.
The comment about the bag of fluid being 'not what we thought it was' - why would she come to that conclusion? Why suspect the fluids of causing the rash rather than some other medical problem? A medical explanation would be more likely than a contaminated bag, surely?
She claims to have asked to check the bags, but there's no record of her making that request and none of the staff remember her asking questions about it. If she believed the bag's contents were making a baby seriously ill, this would be a matter of urgency, not something you'd forget about when your shift ends.

The sarcasm on this thread is really off-putting. Think I’ll stick to reading about the trial on my own.

Seems you can’t ruminate out loud on here without someone jumping down your throat about it. If I don’t like a certain poster’s stance, do you know what I do? I scroll by. You don’t need to bite and suggest they’re wild conspiracy theorists.

@avabella was a good contributor to other trial threads and I like that she thinks of all other possibilities. It’s a weird case and there’s only so much information to go by just now. I expect there’ll be much more by the end of the 6 months.

The irony is we keep getting moaned at for protesting her guilt, by the same people who protest her innocence. It works both ways. Both sides are passionate and you should be able to explain/defend your reasoning without whinging and hurt feelings. It will be pretty tedious conversation if we can't question and try to understand each others way of thinking. Does every comment have to be prefaced with something sickly sweet so people don't get their backs up? I don't care if you think she's innocent, I just won't pretend to agree that the NHS is that level of depraved to frame someone for mass baby murder. Time will tell either way.

I have a question about the insulin. I know what insulin does, but why would a neonate need it ? What would make them hyperglycaemic to possibly need it ? I guess I was just wondering why they had it and used it on a NICU. I'm genuinely curious as to the answer
Very stressed, very small (extreme prem) infants can have high blood sugars and need an insulin infusion. Sepsis can also wreak havoc in their little bodies. The pancreas is immature, methods of transferring glucose are immature. Steroid treatment is used for the lungs, rising blood sugars are a side effect. But in my experience stress is the number one cause. These babies are often tiny and the most minimal of handling causes stress, never mind everything else that has to be done to them. These are the babies that have a rocky journey ahead of them :(

A rapist is arguably different I'm not well read in his case. serial killers usually have a MO , there's an urge fantasy , an escalation, an attack, a come down , fantasise over the last one then the urge strikes again. LL there was no pattern to it just random attacks all over the place.
But they weren't random attacks. They targeted new borns and involved killing them in stealth, undetectable methods. The methods would have to differ because they had to be linked to what treatment or condition they had at the time. And linked to whatever reason she was attending to them - that's the only way it could be undetectable.

If the motive is to kill babies, and you are in a hospital setting, you will adapt your methods for each individual case so no one notices a pattern unless they're looking for it.

Rapists have an MO because they need to attack full grown adults in a public setting, and go for a method that's proven to work to avoid detection. A nurse killing new borns in a hospital already has full access to human beings who can't protect or defend themselves or communicate in any way. So the MO only needs to focus on blending in to their regular care.

Please don't forget to reach out to Bliss, Twins Trust any other organisation listed in the Wiki if you're affected by the trial and are struggling.
I think this week's information will be really hard to digest for everyone.
Sending lots of love to anyone affected by NICU or Baby Loss. ❤

One thing I think we can all agree is we hope whatever the outcome of the trial that the parents and families of those babies get the justice and answers they need.
Honestly, there won't ever be any justice, even if she gets found guilty or the NHS does. I know that's a bitter pill to swallow but these families lost their babies due to either murder or negligence - from the very people who they put their trust in and were supposed to protect the most important things in their lives. There isn't any coming back from that and I'm not sure if the answers are something many people could handle.

I often wondered that about the Sarah Everard case - how could her parents bare hearing what happened to her? Some things are better not known I think.

I just don’t know what to think. 🤯 this just threw some doubt on her guilt for me
The bag could have been injected into and left for an unsuspecting nurse to change over to. (Look at stepping hill) You could also see that as a way for Lucy to get people off her back.

It's the mom having only a week left until she could of had the babies at another hospital for me 💔. One of my kids was born early 2016 and its so sad to think these little babies should be his age.

The thing for me at the moment that’s making me think she is guilty is all these collapses and excess deaths must have been really distressing for everyone but in the questioning she talks about it like she’s hardly remembered and it’s nothing.
But then she’s sending sympathy cards and looking up the parents years later.

The being switched thing really bothers me the more I think about it. If they suspected her of murdering babies, why the fuck was she allowed anywhere near them? It stinks of "Oh well if the babies start dying on day shift aswell, least we've proved our theory!" it just makes no sense. It's not like you are testing for someone stealing from petty cash.
I think someone mentioned earlier, and I don’t if it’s fact or presumption, but someone suggested that initially it was thought she was maybe incompetent and making mistakes rather than murdering the babies. So, I think she was moved to days where there was more support and higher qualified staff to maybe teach her where she’s gone wrong.
