I honestly think that if she wasn't ducked before then she most certainly will be after today's evidence. The insulin cases were always going to be the hardest to dispute and the evidence here although circumstantial is so strong, I don't see how the jury will believe her

Also, happy to see NJ pressing her for answer after silence as it feels he hasn't done that enough despite it being quite telling and perhaps damning for her when she does it.

Also noting that sky refusing to name anyone now can only mean that someone was really bollocked at the start of the trial when they accidentally named one of the babies

'I don't know how the insulin got there'
In the case of Child F, Letby is accused of placing insulin into his fluid bag.

"I don't know how the insulin got there so I can't possibly answer how it might have happened or why," Letby tells the court.

Letby is asked why she was concerned to know - when being questioned later - if the police had kept the bag of fluid.

"I was being accused of placing the insulin in the bag," she says, before adding: "In other cases, we would keep the fluid bag if there were any concerns."

"You knew very well the bags hadn't been kept," Mr Johnson says.

"No, I didn't," Letby replies.

This is probably just me bit understanding, but I just don't understand why she would even ask if they kept the bag.

Medical professionals question: if there was someone having something similar happen, would the bag of fluid automatically be kept to check there wasn't something wrong with the bag.

I really am confused in if they would have kept the bag if they were concerned.

The neonatal schedule for April 9 is shown. Mr Johnson says it is to show what Lucy Letby was doing between 9am-9.30am.
The schedule shows Letby was a co-signer for medication for one baby in room 2, and giving a feed to her designated baby in room 1.
Letby was the co-signer for medication for a room 1 designated baby around 9.10am.
Mr Johnson says a series of prescriptions for three different babies at 9.25-9.29am, co-signed by a nursery nurse and Mary Griffith, gave Letby the "opportunity" to administer the insulin for Child L.
Letby says: "No, I don't know how the insulin got there."
Mr Johnson says it has already been established the insulin was administered on the unit, on the bag that was connected to Child L throughout that time.
NJ: "That's what it's a targeted attack, isn't it?"
Letby pauses.
NJ: "What do you say?"
LL: "Not by me it wasn't."
Letby says she can "only answer for herself" in relation to the accusation by Mr Johnson that the insulin poisoning for Child F and Child L "can only be you or Belinda Simcock


This is hugely damning and I hadn't picked up on this as clearly during prosecution evidence. Not sure of it was reporting or just me who missed but this is massive in my opinion, especially the pause

I really feel sorry for some of these nurses having their names dragged into these terrible events. We know it's Letby who did this and hopefully everyone else will see it but just imagine it being said for the world to see that "it was either you or Belinda who did the murder" .

Mr Johnson says a third bag is hung up at 4.30pm. The hypoglycaemia "continued". Letby agrees.

The fourth bag, hung up the following day "when you [Letby] were not working" was put up, and the hypoglycaemia "gradually resolved". Letby agrees

You've said from the very start that these would be the cases that convicted her and you were absolutely right. There is no doubt in my mind that she will be found guilty.

At least two bags were 'poisoned with insulin' - but Letby denies being responsible

Nick Johnson KC, for the prosecution, argues that not only was Child L given insulin in one bag, but blood tests showed he was also given a second bag that had been tampered with.

A dextrose fluid bag is changed every 24 hours.

"I would have to be guided by the expert evidence," Letby says in response to the prosecution's argument.

By 11pm on 11 April, Child L's issues with hypoglycemia - a low blood sugar level - had resolved.

"Somebody had poisoned at least two glucose bags with insulin," Mr Johnson says.

"Yes," Letby replies.

"That was you wasn't it?" Mr Johnson asks.

"No," says Letby.

Totally agree with you. However, whilst this is true (I have PTSD and have blanked out certain things) her amnesia only seems to occur when it is convenient. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but isn't her PTSD due to being arrested? I don't think she has PTSD due to the fact she was witnessing small babies collapse (which would explain why she couldn't remember those things).

Narcs hate being humiliated. I imagine being arrested in her PJs was more mortifying for her than what happened in that unit. She can play that card all she likes but I think the jury will see through it. (Here's hoping anyway!)

Yes I believe her PTSD is from being arrested in her pjs.
I definitely think the jury will see right through it but it's just another example of where super nurse thinks she's being really clever.

I wouldn’t say supremely intelligent myself but I’ll take it thank you!

This one is particularly poor pass rate (it’s an accounting qualification) which I can resit in September if I fail but it just drags on if that happens and I’m ready to be done with it now.


I wanted to ask your expertise with the insulin poisonings, if she had poisoned other babies and they sadly died, and there were no blood samples before they died available for testing, do you know if they can diagnose the poisonings any other way? Because I believe it doesn’t show in bloods after someone has died . Makes me wonder if there are any cases like that which may be too hard to prove without the blood tests which is why they have been unable to charge her (yet).
