It really proves the impracticality of a jury of 12 peers for such a long trial. Glad to read they can continue with 9. I hope they get a good kick up the jacksie today and a few solpadeine and turn up tomorrow.

I hope its just a young and daft lad who isn't really thinking about the bigger picture rather than someone who is mentally struggling with the details of the case. Either way I hope the judge decides to give them their freedom back tomorrow because this just can't go on.

Anyway I'm off to paint some fences.

Have a lovely day.

@docmum keep you chin up and do something nice for yourself when you've got your chores done. I insist! 🩷

Ah ok so they can carry on with 11 then, seems like that’s what they’re going to discuss internally. Phew, a mistrial would be awful because of all the information now available in public domain

Does anyone know how the court can ensure that for jurors who leave a trial mid way they aren’t discussing/sharing any info publicly?

There was a couple of lads like this when I was on jury service. Turned up without their paperwork on the first day assuming they'd get excused, being loud about it being a waste of time. Would be better to excuse them if it's always the same one, just builds resentment all round

When I did jury service there was a guy who tried really hard to get out of it. Didn't fly though. Turned out he got really in to it and was good in the deliberations and ended up being the jury spokesperson that delivers the verdict at the end 😂

Hope they are able to sort it out and proceed with the trial. If it's always the same person it feels really unfair on the other jurors and also on the poor parents and families of the babies involved in the case who are just looking for some closure. I found four days of jury service challenging so I can imagine how difficult it has been for the jurors to sit for this long and it will have completely disrupted their entire lives, but when you've committed this much time to it so far it seems silly to throw it away and risk being dismissed unless it's absolutely impossible for you to be there.

The judge would probably just have to be quite firm about it being contempt of court and possible prison sentence. I think a dismissed juror discussing it publicly would definitely end up facing a custodial sentence.

I know it’s frustrating with juror absence but the trial is also not 3 months longer than originally planned because of it. Something else has gone wrong with court time too. The jurors were told six months / April and now they are told end of July, it’s already 50% longer than they were originally told.

I commented on a tiktok post that she’s guilty and the person replied with about 10 messages saying why she isn’t guilty 😂 any point I put across she voided 🤷🏻‍♀️

What makes me laugh about the judge being like we can only have so many delays etc. is that he’s the one that gave Live Laugh Lucy the rest of the afternoon off last trial day because she looked a bit ‘peaky’ right in the middle of the prosecution’s effective questioning? Like come on my dude, you are also not helping.

I’m speaking also as someone who gets handled with kid gloves when they get upset (Bambi eyes that are immediately obvious when I’ve been crying it’s the bleeping worst) but I feel like she’s getting an easier time than other women on trial (see JD, MH, even AW in the US).

On the bright side, hopefully Lucy had to drive all the way there to find out it wasn’t on and has to immediately drive all the way back.
Yes it does at least take the control away from her. Every time she has a moment on the stand it is to take the power away from BNE, to exert her narcissism. This does at least put her on the back foot because she isn’t in control of how this goes down.

Aren’t the jury are vetted to try and avoid a situation where people continually absent themselves? I wonder if one of them has had a change in circumstances such as becoming ill or pregnant, or getting divorced?

Thank duck I can watch the Philth threads in peace. Juror probably had a late night watching Eamons interview last night.

This is worded really weirdly. I wonder what’s going on. I also wonder if it’s the same juror ‘going sick’ quite often and they’re considering continuing with 11 jurors?
I said this a while ago I suspected it was the same juror constantly off sick. I just hope it can continue and those poor parents see a little justice x
