No, because once I finished a shift I left work behind. I don't believe her 'reflective practice' drivel. It's her ego again trying to show the jury she's studious. She was a dosser at work playing on her phone pretending to be 'the best nurse ever'.

You have to revalidate every 3 years, there are requirements you have to meet , such as practise hours. I usually have my ward manager sign mine off. A few get checked by the NMC but not all, it's more an audit thing.
My baby was only in special care last week, they are always checked. It's how they know the tube is in the right position.
Even I know that and I'm a layperson not some super qualified gifted nurse who works in the field.
You have to do them to stay registered. Not too often just 5 every 3 years but it's good practice to do them more often. One ward I worked on we would have to do them individually before a debrief if there'd been a serious incident, or if you'd made an error of some kind. My current place I don't think anyone does them regularly.

Yeah, I made a drugs error last month , I had to write a reflection explaining why I think it happened , what I would change.
It is good practise and was helpful. We were very short staffed , which is no excuse , I made an error . Luckily I underdosed , didn't overdose and I admitted it straight away as soon as I realised.

Yep couldn’t agree more. And she was so unconcerned with all the deaths at the start, I find it hard she would note the day the twins were born as reflective practice. Do midwives write in their personal diaries just the initials of babies born? It isn’t in any way normal or believable.

the initials definitely make sense in terms of jogging your memory but I still find it all a bit strange to be in your personal diary with no reflection along side. Even more so as she seems to have poor memory of things so you’d think an initial and a date probably wouldn’t be enough for her. I guess if there is evidence of personal reflection Ben will show that in due course.---

I felt awful as the patient had been with us a while , they had changed her pain relief and didn't tell me but I should have checked properly. When it's short staffed you literally don't have time to fart.
Which is why I find it so odd she says the unit is pressured but has time to be on her phone so much. Make your mind up

I very much doubt he thinks he can get her off but thinks he can make sure she gets a fair trial so I think he would have the fair trial in his mindset.
He can’t stop her from testifying but what he can do is ask her fair questions and if she balls it up and it contributes to her being found guilty then that’s on her not him. He can only do so much and work with what he’s got.
He can’t avoid asking those questions like Facebook and paperwork etc as it would be obvious. He’s just not going to dig deep like prosecution will!
I thought the same - prior to that, rooms 3-4.
And all the photos on her phone of the greetings cards that she so regularly takes pictures of after she's written them.

A few things from me:
I understand reflections in health care but to me, what we’ve seen so far, doesn’t support a “reflection”. Potentially something to look back on but I think a bit more detail would be needed to jog the memory of someone who, in their words, had treated 100s of babies to then later be able to reflect on their exact actions at an event. So unless there is evidence to show her actual reflections then I don’t believe this to be case. This is what I would need as a jury member to cause me doubt. It’s not enough for it to be claimed this is what it was for and not be backed up with anything else to support this as what I have at the minute, doesn’t make me believe she could do any reflection at all.
The handover notes I can’t comprehend. Nothing she says makes any sense regarding them. There are so many of them so I find it hard to believe she didn’t know they were there. She’s also moved house repeatedly so will have gone through her belongings and she STILL didn’t either know they were there or destroy them. The whole shredder thing is a blatant lie. So if she can lie about that then that throws everything else into question for me personally. Again, this is the type of things I would be thinking if I was on the jury. Her answers are not plausible for the amount of paperwork that was there, the fact it shouldn’t be taken home and that some were stored in places they probably would only end up if she put them there deliberately.

I think today has gone pretty much as expected. BM went easy on her, she cried for herself and not for the babies that died or were harmed and she sounds bleeping boring ( I won't repeat my Ellie Goulding comment because quite frankly I am eating tea in an hour and if I have to think about that before eating I will end up with heartburn).

Instead of raving in a field double dropping a couple of 'disco biscuits'
I think the “We” try’s to show she’s sharing the blame, it was a team that failed not “ I” / “Me”
Does sound totally odd to some of the questions she’s asked.
Very very rarely, over 3 and a half weeks saw it twice and it was when it was quite and not out on the floor but in the office. Also quite possibly when they were on a break!
