I don’t think she will take the stand as Ben KC will have advised her against it. I bet she would love to though, lots more attention and opportunity to play victim. It’s been said before but it’s really telling to note at which points she’s shown emotion during the trial- Dr NN & the photos of her bedroom. Both very personal moments for her where she probably felt exposed/cornered. She’s been confronted with things she can’t lie about or deny. That’s caused her to flip out. Prosecution questioning her on the stand would probably try and press her in this way to get her to crack… not worth the risk to her defence team xLatecomer to this thread but no way my brain can stretch to accommodate trawling back through 26 threads
What I am interested in, has there been a thread where we speak about thoughts on Letby taking the stand and it's likelihood etc. This is what's keeping me curious. I kinda don't think she will but wish she would.

I’m more hopeful than most! I know Ben Myers might advise her against it but it’s ultimately her decision and of the few cases I’ve followed previously eg Star Hobson, Arthur Labinjo-Hughes, Logan Mwangi - all the defendants took the stand and the evidence was even clearer/less complex in those cases (things like cctv).Thanks girls for your thoughts disappointing to think as would be fascinating to see how she would react in the limelight. I'm still lost about her motives. Anyway. Off to check out thread 23
I think often the narcissism and arrogance can get the better of them and they believe they can get away with it if they give their version or talk the jury round. There’s a view from some that she’s answered police questions cleverly (non-committal) and she didn’t go for no comment responses so maybe she or BM will think she’s smart enough to stay in control on the stand.
So I would not be surprised either way really, so I remain hopeful!

These were a couple of key bits I didn’t like the feel of (yes I know someone else might interpret them innocently- I don’t)
This situation could have been avoided. It shouldn’t have come to this.
No one will ever know what has happened and why.
I’ve needed to go straight back and have a sick baby.
Also her texts to JJK, doesn’t half bleeping go on. She was supposed to be looking after two babies ffs. No doubt in my mind it’s no coincidence she stops and is in nursery 1 and 6 minutes later baby C is in such a serious collapse out of nowhere.
Also if I’m being fussy, I don’t like her referring to them as “dead babies”. She even says at one point “I certainly wasn’t looking for pictures of dead babies” about the Facebook searches. I think I would at least say babies that passed away.

It had never even crossed my mind that she was searching them to see photos of the babies after they’d died. But the way she says it makes me think that actually she could have been looking for exactly that. She’s got an obsession with them

Everything’s about her. Even in police interview “it would have been good for me” to go in nursery one. Just duck off hun. She can’t even conceal it in police interview. Talking about not getting the emotional support she wanted from JJK in those texts. All of it is for attention.
I feel like it’s like she wanted to portray the image of what she thought a children’s nurse would be like, like with this diary it’s fluffy and cute and flowery. The glittery, sparkles, cartoon dog diaries are so disharmonious with what I think of when I think of a health care serial killer. I also think it could reflect a child like brain, stuck in time, never grew up, past some developmental trauma. Time will tell I guess.

Still absolutely convinced there was no relationship with Noname or they would have to be told he was an ex to give context to her ramblings about him. Very unhinged. This bit strikes me as jealousy (this is when she was told she couldn’t go in nursery one as they were trying to look after her, but she’s complaining Mel was able to go in even though she was really upset.)
Why send Mel in if she’s trying to look after us? She was in bits over it

And then this bit just expands a bit more on liverpool womens. I’m really not sure how a second dying baby helped her get over the first! Not even logical
Unfortunately I’ve seen my fair share at the women’s but you are supported differently.
I lost a baby one day and few hours later was given another dying baby just born in the same cot space.
Girls there said it was important to overcome the image. It was awful but by end of day I realised they were right.

Just finished this weeks podcast - Jesus bleeping Christ …. She’s unhinged.
When you see dead babies it’s hard to get it out of your head…
Also Letby- continuously involving herself in the aftermath of babies dying even when she is told not to. Bathing them. Taking them to the morgue. Didn’t she say of C “it was special to spend that time with him”. Taking photos of them. Making memory box before getting permission. Making memory box when it’s not her designated patient. Searching their parents constantly.
